By the Emperor, just completed the mission, i.e. arrest French Guy for violation of Violence against Women and Children Act. He is languishing in jail pending bail.
But seriously, I see Burgos' role as similar to Face of the A-Team. Do you guys foresee a problem if I dampen Burgos' combat skills by taking the Great Chantries of Tarsus Background Package (Reduce WS, BS and Str by 5, increase Int and Fel by 5, gain Charm, Common Lore (Ecclesiarchy), Scrutiny, Speak Language (High Gothic), Peer (Ecclesiarchy) talent)?

Also tagging the thread.
I have never played in a DH game before (evident from my plethora of questions) and I am grateful for the help that I have gotten from Davi so far.
I am planning to build an assassin who specializes on range attacks and fellowship. Any advice (talents, skills, actions in combat) will be appreciated.

Well, I haven't played Dark Heresy before either, so we're in nearly the same boat. I also haven't DMed before, so yeah.
First off, it's simple to at least choose the talents most suited for ranged specialists. You see all those talents that require lots of Ballistic Skill? Those are good. As for how good they are, ask someone who actually played.
Also, for Fellowship. Be glad you have a high value for it, because it's all you're going to have in social situations for a long time. Until we get to the point where the class splits, you're not going to be getting very many social skills.

Just tagging the thread too.
Justine: Talents like Mighty Shot, Crack Shot, Quick Draw (if you use different ranged weapons for different situations) and Deadeye Shot are all really useful for ranged characters. Hip Shooting's also quite useful too. :)
My first DH character was actually a sniper assassin. Unfortunately, she met a really nasty end after attracting the attention of a splinter gun or two. :( (Sound Constitution is always useful for every character!)
Also, apparently sniper weapons have now been errataed to make them more on par with some of the auto weapons. A weapon with accurate used to just give a BS bonus, but in the errata, it also gives an extra d10 of damage for every 2 degrees of success (to a max of 2d10). In my experience, it was really hard to do any significant damage as a sniper before, so I think this is probably a good change. All the errata are available here

Only heard about it when I saw the post for it on the gamer connection threads. Seems interesting they'd set two games in the same setting. Hopefully they're compatible, otherwise I'll be a bit disapointed really.
I understand the different take on Rogue traders from Inquisitor adepts, but that seems more like a splat book idea than a whole new game. Guess I'll check it out when it becomes free to download on the 22nd.
Cheers

Ok, everyone seems to be ready to burn heretics.
Anyone here read the Redeemer?
Never read the redeemer book. I kind of fell out of the 40k universe for nearly 8 years there. Gave it away when they released the umteenth rules revision for the tabletop game. However, i did get back into it a bit when warhammer roleplay came out again. It was one of the first roleplays my group used when the first edition of it was realeased in the late 80's, so i picked them up and liked what they did with it.
As such, I have only just started to collect the modern books. I like Dan Abnett's work, so wil read his Gaunts Ghosts omnibuses first. Read the Ravenor book, and will try and get the next ones for that as well. After that, who knows where time and money will lead me hehe.
Always liked the idea of redemptionist crusade from Necromunda game, great background stuff.
You got yourself a flamer yet?

Hey, quick question, how is loot going to be handled? In my current Pathfinder campaign, we put all the loot in a pot and calculate how much gold we can get from selling it. Whoever wants something will pay the amount that we would normally get from a merchant and put that money in the pot. Essentially, the party sells the loot to its own members and everyone still get the same share of gold they would have gotten if they had visited a store.
In a related note, compared to their original price, how much can loot be sold for in Dark Heresy?

Eccentric DM |

Alright, I'll be honest here. Unless you have a sudden burst of kleptomania, you're probably not going to have much loot. If an enemy has something good and you take it, as long as it isn't too tainted I'm fine with it. If you eventually fine sometrhing somewhat impressive and turn it in to the Inquisition, you'll probably get a bonus, but I don't think you'll find man buyers for the dozen cheap autopistols you took off some dead gangers.
In other words, your main source of treasure is your paycheck.
EDIT: If you do sell something, just test one of the social skills when you do it. How good you roll is how good a deal you get.

Note to self: Stop posting in the middle of the night the players have something called "lives" that require them to have a "sane sleeping schedule".
Anyway, can we keep the paragraphs of advice/criticism to this thread?
(Oh, and I live in Michigan. I just lack the aforementioned life and thus have a sleeping schedule that will probably be a pain once I actually have to get up at a sane time.)

Hi all,
Just a little note to say I really enjoy reading your PbP. I was thinking about GMing this adventure for my own gaming group here in Holland, but after reading your PbP I'm sure I'll give it a go.
I don't know much about the DH setting, but I think you guys really bring it to life, keep it up!

Wow, I'm inspiring people to play Dark Heresy. That's... that's kind of frightening, actually. Still, it's good to know.

Guys, I will be out of the office for the next couple of days. There is a distinct possibility that I will not have any connection to the net. Hence, do not be alarmed if I have not posted on the IC thread.
Work requires me to travel far from Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, to the Pangasinan, a province 100 plus KM away to the North, to handle a criminal case (double murder with multiple frustrated murder) filed against my client by the Mayor of the City where I am going. One of the victims was the former Mayor of that city and who was the father of the present Mayor. There is clearly a lot of emotion in this case.
Suffice it to say I must play a little cloak and dagger as I do not want to advertise that I am the lawyer for the other side. It feels as though my life is turning into an rpg adventure.
Wish me luck.
