A well-endowed young lady goes into the doctor, requesting a breast reduction 'cause she's tired of guys focussing on them. The doc says OK, but he'll need to numb them before he can proceed. She says that it would be painful so I hope you would.

Houston Derek is in charge of that dept if I remember correctly!

Thanks for asking though.
Thanks Emperor. I don't get that...but I guess its an independence thing...and that I can understand. I think we will drive up this Sunday and see for ourselves how they are doing. I know we will feel better seeing for ourselves.

Guess - Not so much independence as them looking back and wanting you to have less stress than they may have had growing up. As my Mom says, 'You have all your own stuff to deal with'. Good luck.

You know, I've heard the independence thing, and I've heard the bother excuse, but there is another possibility I'd be on the look out for. "If I tell you what's happening, then it will be real. If I don't tell you, maybe it's not as bad because if it was, I'd have told you." It could just be good ol' fashioned denial.
Also, if I'm not dealing well with what's happening, and I tell you and you also don't deal well with what's happening, then I have to deal with it, and my own inability to deal with it well, but I also have to deal with you not handling it well on top of those--this is the fear that sharing will make the bad worse instead of better. I don't mean to complicate your worries, Solnes and Moorluck, but having some lovable nuts in my tribe, I feel the responsibility to raise the possibilities I've seen.

Long, frustrating day number two. My husband threw his back out earlier this week. Finally went to the doctor today. I had to help him get dressed cause he can't really bend at all, and then drive him to the appt with the incompetent doctor who told him that he thought there might be a slipped disk but he wasn't going to do any tests to find out, here's your prescriptions that may or may not have any awful reactions to what you're already taking cause he doesn't care enough to find out. (Luckily we have a really good pharmacist who does his best to keep our doctor from inadvertently killing us.) So if he's still in screaming pain tomorrow, I get to take him to urgent care where the competent doctors work and there will probably be many tests which will probably necessitate much driving. It's one of those weird things about the way the hospitals are set up because they're so big. This should probably go in the things in life that suck thread, but that would necessitate first finding said thread, and I still have to somehow manage to get the house cleaned before gaming tonight.
Silly husband thinks he will still be participating in that. I've told him that I can npc his character for one session, but he's being stubborn. Luckily, he'll most likely be unconscious then so it will be a nonargument.
