Canis is looking for Arielle. He needs to talk to her about something.

I think the post monster got this one.

"That's a trick usually limited to those who practice shadow magic. You didn't feel any different than normal when Tristan pointed it out, did you?"

Time for me to commute myself. Back in an hour or so :)

"Not at all. I wouldn't have even known about it if Tristan hadn't pointed it out."

Arielle wakes up and yawns. She'd been so sure she hadn't been sleepy. And then Mommy had started singing. She was annoyed about having been lullabied again. But she did feel a little better. She didn't want to try calling a storm again anytime soon, though. She picked up her hammer from where she'd left it leaning against the bed and went to go put it back in the practice area by the playground where she usually kept it.

After Arielle puts her hammer away, she turns to see 'Canis'(the not so little LK) leaning next to the entrance.

"Hello Arielle, nice to see you again."

"Hi, LK. What's up?"

"Just the kind of perceptiveness I was counting on when I came here. You can see things for what they really are no matter how hard their true nature is hidden. But there is one thing about me I bet you haven't guessed yet..."

"This isn't about your dad being a god is it? Cause I didn't really have to guess on that one. I can see divine auras. You know, cause I'm part god myself. But if there's another big secret hanging out there, please let me know."

"Sorry, that sounded kinda snippy didn't it. I'm still pretty shaken up about the whole stormcalling thing, and before my mom lullabied me into a nap I didn't want she looked really upset about something and I'm kinda worried."

"That's okay, I was there remember? Well not me me, but you know what I mean. Actually I'm afraid my motives for coming back are not exactly what you thought."

He reaches for the straps kepping the armor on his left side and undoes them, revealing a perfectly healthy arm that matches his other one. He wiggles it around trying to get the circulation going again.

Now did you see that one coming? Bet not.

Her eyes are wide and her mouth is moving but no sound is coming out.

"Sooo, the whole thing was a scam to get you to talk to your dad again? Or are there more surprises I don't know about yet?"

"Now don't be like that. If I had not done this Dad would have been hurt horribly trying to get back into a good father-son relantionship. Yu're not going to hit me with lightning because I was trying to get my family together are you? You of all people should know how good it feels to be be with your entire family, and even with help I can't know that feeling, so I decided I would at least try to get along better with my dad."

Allura wrote:

"It never can be just one thing to worry about at a time, can it love?" he asks as he gives her a quick peck on the cheek.

"Sorry, LK. I didn't mean to come across like that. I'm definitely in favor of you and your dad having a better relationship. I tried to help as much as I could. And of course I'm not gonna hit you with lightning."

"I'm not sure I ever want to call lightning again," she said, looking discouraged.

She chuckled softly. "Of course not. Then we might actually have time to figure out whether we were coming or going."

She frowns. "This could be really bad. You know how LJ feels about him. I don't even want to think about the possible devastation if he doesn't come back. Not to mention what Arielle might do."

"Okay. We're just going to have to think positive and assume that things are going to work out. Right?"

"Well, this does explain why Starsong has locked herself in her room and forbidden anyone except her daughter from entering."

Djuhah looks very worried.

"Is the Hole in the Wall open right now, by any chance? A good meal right now would be a great idea."

Arielle wrote:

"Don't tell me you're worried about a part of yourself being out of control are you? Huh, makes sense why this was sent with me then. Can't belive I was supposed to figure out on my own...

He psearches the puoch on his belt and pulls out a strange glass-like object. He walks over and hands it to her.

"It's called fulgirite-petrified lightning. I was told it would help you* gain control if you ever needed it. I think I should leave before some one else figures out who I am. If I come back here again, it will be on a much happier note. Oh, and don't overreact, things will be fine in the end. They always are."

He shifts smoothly into a wolf-dark gray instead of the pure white Lk usually has- and walks away, fading as he does...

"Goodbye..."

*Mommy had a 'feather', so it only seems right the daughter has one too. That should be the last time he shows up.

Aidan and Oroth are in The Hole in the Wall, apparently waiting for a bit of breakfast while having a debate/argument.

"Just because you pushed youself to far does not mean I am going to heal your aches and pains. You made a choice, a good one, and no good deed goes unpunished."

"But Oroth..."

"goodbye."

She studied the piece of fulgurite in her hands. It didn't much look like lighting to her, but she was hardly going to complain if it could actually help her learn how not to blow up the people she was trying to protect.

And we're all for that ;D

Dinner time for me. G'Night all :)

Part 4 posted. None tomorrow though. RL intrudes. LJ - your call if you still want to remain sequestered in your room 'til the story plays out. Don't want to keep you trapped by it, and it doesn't have to connect to the natural world time.

No worries. It's good for them to have to solve their own problems once in a while. And I'm still available for Arielle if she needs, but I think she's gonna be pretty busy since Grandpa Azuri'ith has to start teaching her weather magic now.

Good Morning everyone!

Frogskin sits in his cave, staring at the crystal ball. Suddenly he freezes.
"It can't be...I'd have noticed..."
He is still for a minute. Then, suddenly, he whirls around and explodes the wall behind him. Daylight rushes in, greedily filling every nook. There is a scream that can be heard throughout the Eyrie.
The raven flies out, to find the others.

Suddenly, there is a faint voice in Lynora's mind.
"Lynora...can you hear me? This is Plantjack! Can you hear me?"

Jay Frogskin wrote:

Carefully setting the little ones down, Sky rises and looks for the source of the scream...

Lk and Kiba stop their sparring to see who is screaming...

Aidan and Oroth's discussion fall silent as the move quitely out of The Hole to defend this wonderful place if need be...

Ellara walks out of her room, wondering who dared to disrupt her reading by making someone scream...

That's 6 people ready for whatever may happen... ;) Heck the only one missing is The Bard/Balthus.

Frogskin flies to meet Sky.

"Listen, where is Lynora? I need to talk to her!"

"I'm afraid that is not possible right now, she has isolated herself from the rest of the Eyrie. She said only Arielle was allowed to see her, and I will make sure she is the only one who does. If you wish to talk to her, you will have to ask for Arielle's help. Now, do you know who screamed just now?"

Blodwen did her best to calm down the overly curious nestlings while Sky went to deal with whatever was wrong.

"A member of the Servants did. They've sent Shadowdancers. Spies, and very dangerous ones. I just killed one, and took a lot of the cave with it."

The voice fades.
I probably should've expected that. Right, Plan B.

"That should not be possible. The Eyrie is warded against any who mean harm against those who are already here. They should not be able to enter at all. And the act of fighting itself should have shunted both you and this intruder into a demiplane far from here."

"Oh, right." *Poof* ;)

"It's...different, for the shadowdancers. They have ways of confusing wards. Unfortunately for them, this confuses all the wards, thus denying them any protection. Fortunately, this magic also weakens them a great deal, making them easier to notice. And to kill."

What, did you miss the part of his name that says he's a djinn? ;)

"One of them was stalking Allura earlier today. I want to know how to spot them, how to kill them, and what if any wards can be used to block them. I will not have those things attacking any who claim sanctuary here, and especially not the children."

"They are shadow. Only force magic is certain to harm them, unless you have magical weapons of a certain type. Wards won't be easy. Spotting them is hard, and if you manage to see one, you can't let on that you have. They'll scamper. Just watch the shadows. I have to go."

And with that the raven flies away, to find a new cave.

"Shadowdancers? Those are people who can blend into the darkness itself right? Devlyn is one, if I remember correctly, and Oroth used to be."

Notices that Oroth is already down at the Eyrie's floor along with Kiba, Lk, Ellara, and Aiden.

"It would seem we were not the only ones who heard that scream."

"Yes, it is. And annoying. When dealing with the raven I often have to remind myself that Starsong considers him an ally."

"If I knew what sort of weapon it would be easy enough to enchant a few of them. Without that information, we are at a distinct disadvantage."

Hm, maybe not. We do not know what weapons hurt them, but we may have a way to stop them from spying. He said they were shadows right? And Allura had one impersonating her shadow... What if we work a spell that keeps shadows from residing in the Eyrie? Anyone in the Eyrie would not have a shadow, making any shadows easy to see, since they shouldn't be there. If you work the spell and I power it, we may be able to at least keep it going during the day. I'd need a private place though to power the spell though, I don't want anyone se- interupting the spell.

"Yes, that should be possible. I'm not sure what we'll do at night. Keep careful watch I suppose. If you need a private place, I believe that Starsong made one not too long ago for Kiba and Little Kiba to use to work out some family difficulties. Will that work?"
