"Yes, we have decided."
He looked a bit distant for a moment.
"The caves are opened and suitable for occupancy now. They are not as nicely furnished as these ones, but not entirely primitive either."
"Now, I'm afraid my time here is short. There is much I need to get back to," he added apologetically, before vanishing again.
"Yes, that is an understandable sentiment. Perhaps we should open up some caves for them near ground level? That don't connect to the upper Eyrie. Keeps them close, but out of sight for the most part. At least during this trial period. Over time wounds do heal."
Sky Cloudgather wrote: :Okay, I'll find an Eagle I think is up for this kind of debate. See you in an hour.:
He veers off as he sweeps across the Eyrie, casting his mind out for a good enough Eagle for the job. He's hard pressed to pick one though, because they are all good candidates. He finally chooses one of the older, veteran Eagles and meets with Blodwen and the Temple.
"Hello Djuhah. It seems we rarely have to meet unless something important is happening."
"Yes," he sighed. "It is too bad. I often miss making pancakes in the mornings, especially with the younglings. But this deity business takes a lot of my time."

I cannot promise he will not return. They are very sneaky creatures. But he is gone for now, my dear.

"As you wish, Starsong. Know that you are always welcome here."
Winds swirl around LJ, CH, and Arielle, transporting the three of them to the Grove of the Ancients.
"Of course, Starsong. That will be no trouble at all. But are you sure you should leave this place? It is well protected. You are safe here."
He materialised in front of them.
"Yes, Starsong? Was there something you needed?"
Just to make things clear, the wards within the Eyrie state that none with intent to harm another resident may enter. Any attempt to get in by omniportal, teleportation, or more conventional means will simply fail. If anyone attacks another resident of the Eyrie, they are instantly teleported far away to a random destination. The servants are currently banned because of the hostilities they have initiated against this place. These restrictions apply to all within the Eyrie, including LJ. The Sanctuary on top of the Eyrie does not have the restrictions about attacking, but can only be accessed by special permission.
And reboot to Eyrie 2.0 in 3...2...1..
Djuhah looked at the scene before him. Everything seemed so different. There was so much he had to do. But first he needed to take care of this place and the people in it. They were his responsibility now and he intended to keep them safe. Power surged through him and into the Eyrie, repairing the fire damage and moving things around. Instead of a spiral galaxy, the place was now designed in the shape of a concentric spiral with a little wave on the end. It looked like a gust of wind. The other symbol was Starsong's and always would be. He was careful to make sure that no one inside could feel any movement even though he was rearranging things, and the corridors for the most part led to the same places they had before. He made some changes to the kitchen in the Hole in the Wall, giving it enchantments so it would produce food on request. Heroes could not be trusted to cook for themselves and he did not wish his charges to go hungry. Or be forced to eat young Arielle's cooking, which was infinitely worse. He then turned his attention to the wards. When Starsong had first designed them he thought she was out of her mind. Allowing evil creatures into a sanctuary of peace seemed completely insane. But he had seen this tactic of giving everyone a fair chance regardless of moral differences pay off more often than it had backfired. He decided to keep the condition as it was. He strengthened the wards repairing them and making them unbreakable even by a Champion. He didn't want any more scenes of destruction like this last one. Not here. Given that they were currently trying to besiege the place he also left in the restriction keeping the servants and their allies out of the Eyrie. He could always change it later if they decided to be more reasonable. And with that it was time for him to turn his attention to other matters, secure in the knowledge that this temple was safe from attack.
Djuhah breathed in. Somehow he had expected that to be more dramatic. Instead, it had been like receiving spells, only much, much stronger.
"If you will excuse me, please, there are some things I need to see to."
He vanished much the same way that he had arrived.
Djuhah looks a bit overwhelmed. And then he bows.
"It would be my honor to serve thus, Starsong. I do not understand the reasons for your need, but I will gladly take up this burden."
"Yes, Starsong, I am here. What is so terribly urgent?" the djinn asked, politely and calmly as always, as he teleported into the room from the other side of the Eyrie where he had been supervising repairs. "Repairing the lava flows damage is proving especially problematic at present, and I would not wish to delay longer than necessary."
The Dalesman wrote: So we can move things along here :)
"Djuhah! Are you nearby?"
"Your pardon, mister Devlyn, but at the moment I am somewhat up to my eyeballs fixing structural problems caused by this little altercation. There is, I believe a starhawk near you, by the name of Hlawith. She should be able to carry Starsong back to her quarters."
Aidan Shade wrote: Djuhah the Djinn wrote: "Of course. I am sure that Starsong would also be glad to help. Though perhaps we might be better off consulting one of the other champions to see if their magic ever did anything so strange." "I.. I don't want people to know. I know nobody in the Eyrie would say anything, but the might think it. And if our enemies somehow found out, in anyway, they may try to use it against me. But whatever you do, don't tell my brother, I don't want him worrying about something that could turn out to be nothing." "As you wish, young fire champion, but I think you are vastly underestimating the people here. But I will not interfere."
Aidan Shade wrote: Djuhah the Djinn wrote: "How may I be of service to you, young fire champion?" Djuhah asks politely once Aidan has found him. In spite of all the chaos around him the djinn seems perfectly calm. "Lately, something has seemed very wrong. With my magic, that is. Like something lurking just below the surface, waiting to get free. I... tried to move it into a single pure gem I created, but it blew up and melted into useless stone. Once, after I had a scroll to bring me back, I sent a small ray of flame at Oroth, to see if the wards would send me to another plane. I felt the magic start to affect, then felt it burn away. I wake up at night with dreams of that wretched carnival still vivid in my ming and fire streaming from my hand into macabre images. Something is wrong, Djuhah, but I think I can keep it under control until this battle(if there is one) is over. When it is safe, I'd like your help fixing whatever is wrong." "Of course. I am sure that Starsong would also be glad to help. Though perhaps we might be better off consulting one of the other champions to see if their magic ever did anything so strange."
Aidan Shade wrote: There is a small booming sound from within the room Aidan was working, and he crashes through the door(now nothing more than than charred wood and ash) to slam into he wall. He slowly and shakily stands, glaring at the red gemstones that had melted and bubbled as a result of his failure. Now nothing more than a red heap of worthless stone. He starts pulling gem shards out of his arms and torso as he goes of to find Djuhah.

Ch'ack Hammer wrote: Ragged from his trials, Ch'ack returns home to the Eyrie. He smiles at first, then notices the activity and frowns.
"What has happened?"
Djuhah pauses in his work organizing the guard patrols to answer.
"Welcome back. I am uncertain as to the exact nature of what has transpired, but some time ago Starsong declared open hostilities against the one known as the Mask as well as some others known as Dral, Tarvek, and Stina. This happened shortly after young Arielle returned early from a training session with her grandfather and began screaming for her mother. I'm afraid that's all I know, other than that the Eyrie is currently under siege after a fashion."
Lilsa The Medium wrote: "There's your message..." She says, and faints. Djuhah quickly catches her before she hits the floor and sets her down gently, casting a quick restoration as he does so.
"Yes, indeed. This is Lilsa the Medium. Well, technically PlantJack is currently speaking through her. He's been asking for you."
Very Tempermental PlantJack wrote: Lilsa is silent for a moment. She closes her brown eyes. When she reopens them, they are bright green.
"Who are you? The woman told me she would take me to Lynora."
"Ah. The most honorable PlantJack, I presume? I have heard about you. My name is Djuhah. I serve Starsong, the one you call Lynora, as a priest. I am in charge of the temple while she is busy with other things. Right now Starsong is occupied with some family matters, but if your need is truly urgent I can call her for you."

"Oh, where are my manners? Please, sit down. Would you care for something to eat?" he added with a charming smile. "Nothing, thank you." She says politely, but remains standing. "I have a message for Lynora, from one who has passed away. I am a medium, you see, and it is my job to find restless spirits and help them find their way to the afterlife. Did you know one called 'Plantjack?'?" "I did not know him personally, but I have heard of him. Arielle was talking about someone named Plantjack recently in connection with the dreamlands I think. It can sometimes be hard to follow conversations with Arielle. She jumps around from subject to subject, and she sees things differently than the rest of us. She hasn't figured out yet that the rest of us don't always see things exactly as they truly are, and wouldn't know how to explain things to us if she did know."

"Arielle, where did.....aaaand she's gone." ;P
Devlyn activates his communication crystal as Arielle runs off.
"Good news - Arielle's back, and just went to see her mother. How's the other plan coming along, Djuhah?"
"Somewhat faster now that we don't also have to worry about tracking down the goddess's daughter," he says, sounding exasperated.
Sky Cloudgather wrote: Djuhah the Djinn wrote: "She's extremely gifted psionically speaking, even for a starhawk." :Hm? What do you mean, even for a starhawk?:
There is a slightly amused tone to Sky's thought. "You of all people don't need the explanation for that comment," Djuhah said dryly.
"Okay, can we get someone with scent to track Arielle and see if she went into Starsong's room? I don't even want to think of what's going to happen to us if we've misplaced the goddess's daughter."
The Dalesman wrote: Allura wrote: :No, and LK hasn't seen her since the bazaar either. Is Arielle's room shielded in some way? Would that be able to block Blodwen's scans?: "Djuhah - are LJ's and Arielle's rooms warded from magical and psionic detection? Could that be why Blodwen (who is that, by the way?) can't detect her?" "Arielle's room is not, but Starsong's room is. If Arielle went to see her mother then we would not be able to locate her magically or psionically. And with Starsong secluded from everyone except her daughter we have no way to determine if that is where Arielle is at present. Unless you have some other ideas."
"Hm? Blodwen? Surely you've met her? Sky's wife. The shapeshifting starhawk. She's extremely gifted psionically speaking, even for a starhawk."
The Dalesman wrote: Djuhah the Djinn wrote: "Shadows. Ones that specialize in sliding through wards apparently. And with Starsong distracted this is an especially bad time for this. Sky and I are working on something that will at least tell us right away where they are. If you or Oroth have any insight to share about fighting shadows I'm all ears." "On it. I'm heading down to find...nevermind," as he runs into Allura and Tristan coming up the stairs, a look of relief on his face. "Where do you want everyone to gather that has enough room to hold them? I'm not as familiar with this place as I should be."
"As far as fighting them, three options right now:
- One, remove any shadows they can hide in by bathing the whole Eyrie in omnidirectional light spells;
- Two, go the opposite direction and plunge the Eyrie into total darkness;
- Three, take the fight to them and try to rout them. I can do that, but I don't know about Oroth. I think he's more closely tied to sun than shadow now."
"We had thought of the light idea, but not the total darkness one. That certainly answers our questions about what to do about nighttime. There is room for everyone to gather in the Hole in the Wall."
The Dalesman wrote: Crap - of all the blasted things I had to miss.... ;)
Devlyn just made it to the Hole in the Wall when the scream was heard, and saw Aidan and Oroth head out to find out what was going on. He heads off in a different direction so they can all cover more ground (and to make sure both Allura and Tristan are alright). Once he is with them, he then uses his communication crystal to find Djuhah.
"Djuhah? Talk to me....what's going on?"
"Shadows. Ones that specialize in sliding through wards apparently. And with Starsong distracted this is an especially bad time for this. One of them was stalking Allura earlier. Sky Cloudgather wrote: Hm, maybe not. We do not know what weapons hurt them, but we may have a way to stop them from spying. He said they were shadows right? And Allura had one impersonating her shadow... What if we work a spell that keeps shadows from residing in the Eyrie? Anyone in the Eyrie would not have a shadow, making any shadows easy to see, since they shouldn't be there. If you work the spell and I power it, we may be able to at least keep it going during the day. I'd need a private place though to power the spell though, I don't want anyone se- interupting the spell. "Yes, that should be possible. I'm not sure what we'll do at night. Keep careful watch I suppose. If you need a private place, I believe that Starsong made one not too long ago for Kiba and Little Kiba to use to work out some family difficulties. Will that work?"
Sky Cloudgather wrote: Djuhah the Djinn wrote: Sky Cloudgather wrote: "Shadowdancers? Those are people who can blend into the darkness itself right? " "I doubt it, what the raven said suggests these are a different type of being entirely. They may be able to fight them better than we can though, and maybe notice them easier. Strange that he did not tell us what type of weapon hurts them." "Yes, it is. And annoying. When dealing with the raven I often have to remind myself that Starsong considers him an ally."
"If I knew what sort of weapon it would be easy enough to enchant a few of them. Without that information, we are at a distinct disadvantage."
Sky Cloudgather wrote: "Shadowdancers? Those are people who can blend into the darkness itself right? Devlyn is one, if I remember correctly, and Oroth used to be." "Then we should ask both of them. They will hopefully have more useful information than the raven did. "
Jay Frogskin wrote: "Oh, right." *Poof* ;)
"It's...different, for the shadowdancers. They have ways of confusing wards. Unfortunately for them, this confuses all the wards, thus denying them any protection. Fortunately, this magic also weakens them a great deal, making them easier to notice. And to kill."
What, did you miss the part of his name that says he's a djinn? ;)
"One of them was stalking Allura earlier today. I want to know how to spot them, how to kill them, and what if any wards can be used to block them. I will not have those things attacking any who claim sanctuary here, and especially not the children."
Jay Frogskin wrote: Sky Cloudgather wrote: Jay Frogskin wrote: Frogskin flies to meet Sky.
"Listen, where is Lynora? I need to talk to her!" "I'm afraid that is not possible right now, she has isolated herself from the rest of the Eyrie. She said only Arielle was allowed to see her, and I will make sure she is the only one who does. If you wish to talk to her, you will have to asked for Arielle's help. Now, do you know who screamed just now?" "A member of the Servants did. They've sent Shadowdancers. Spies, and very dangerous ones. I just killed one, and took a lot of the cave with it." Djuhah arrives with a puff of air as Jay is talking.
"That should not be possible. The Eyrie is warded against any who mean harm against those who are already here. They should not be able to enter at all. And the act of fighting itself should have shunted both you and this intruder into a demiplane far from here."
The Dalesman wrote: "Is the Hole in the Wall open right now, by any chance? A good meal right now would be a great idea." "Yes, of course. I always keep it open. And I've got some new recipes I'd like someone to try. I'll catch up just as soon as Tristan is finished with his bath."
"Well, this does explain why Starsong has locked herself in her room and forbidden anyone except her daughter from entering."
Djuhah looks very worried.
The Dalesman wrote: Once Devlyn realizes LJ has sequestered herself, he starts stalking the caverns and corridors for Djuhah. He finds Djuhah and Allura in the hallway outside one of the bathing chambers. Splashing can be heard from inside. They seem to be looking at Allura's shadow.
The Dalesman wrote: Devlyn, Allura, Aidan and Oroth leave the Tavern of the Ranger and the Dryad, and head back into the Bazaar.
"Well, that was a mixed bag of information. I guess we'd better let the others know before the boys get too antsy."
Devlyn activates his communication crystal and tries to contacts Lynora Jill. If she doesn't answer (since I'm no longer sure of the time now) :), he will try to contact Djuhah.
"Devlyn, did you find out much that can help our young friend?" the djinn asked politely. "Starsong is rather busy at the moment. The children went to the Bazaar to retrieve one of Tristan's possessions, and she is keeping an eye on the situation. I rather get the impression that things aren't going well at the moment, so you might want to see if you can locate them. Just look for where the trouble is."
Djuhah smiled to himself. Jay had such a bad habit of flying off half-cocked. Djuhah wasn't worried in the slightest. He knew his own handiwork well enough to recognize that the ring the stranger had been wearing was in fact the exact same ring that Arielle had. And watching humans age so many times over the years he had a pretty good idea of how the face changed from childhood to adulthood. Starsong had probably sent the boy here herself.
Kiba wrote: The little grey bird is making a lot of noise. LJ, Djuhah(and possible Jay) hear: "Will somebody please open the cage?!" Djuhah reaches out and opens the cage, releasing Kiba.
Jay Frogskin wrote: "Oh, crap. How did that ring get past the wards? How the hell was it functional? That's not supposed to happen. Kiba, are you alright?" "I would not fret too much Frogskin. I do not believe it is as much to be concerned with as you think. That ring was an exact duplicate of the one I constructed to allow Jack Hammer and Arielle to practice so that she can learn how to fight. I do not know how the stranger obtained one though."
As the others head towards the omniportal, Djuhah approaches the two boys.
"You are both welcome to make use of the facilities here. I would be happy to provide a meal if you are hungry. And there is a playground/ sparring area also. I believe young miss Arielle is there already. I'm sure she would be happy to see you. There aren't many her own age around here."
Djuhah nods. "I understand. She is on her way. Please follow me. The omniportal chamber is no place for this sort of conversation. There is a private room just over here."
He leads them to a guest chamber.
"Hello and welcome. Who is this?" the djinn asks, concerned as he sees the unconscious boy.
Sky Cloudgather wrote:
Sky beams with pride at the compliment.
"It is a great party, Djuhah. Who would have thought you had such a gifts for throwing them?"
:Blodwen, just pick one up with like this,: he shows her how, :and put in your mouth and chew. When your done chewing, just swallow it like you would if you were in you starhawk shape. It doesn't matter which one you try, or even if you like it.:
"How do you like the lightning I put up, Djuhah?" "Thanks. I do love parties. It seems to be an essential skill for a high-ranking cleric around these parts,' he added with a wink.
"The lightning is great. It's a big hit with Arielle, so you know that's an automatic win."
"And how are you two enjoying the party?" Djuhah said with a smile, offering a snack tray.
Blodwen looked at the tray, bewildered. She had yet to eat as a human and wasn't quite sure what was okay and what wasn't.
"And look at the little ones, all dressed up," Djuhah continued with a smile. "They're adorable."
Djuhah circulated through the crowd with a tray of snacks, making sure that everyone had enough to eat and drink.
As night falls, Djuhah makes sure lights are lit in each of the rooms in the cliff face so that the galaxy symbol shines brightly in the night. He checks to make sure that all of the preparations are finished, that there is plenty of food and drink for everyone, and the Hole in the Wall and The Roost are both opened up for everyone to enjoy as the celebration begins.
