The scythe of Saeroth connects with the smaller dragon, cleaving it in two. But the small wyrm does not fall, instead it forms tow dragons, each only half the size of the original. A large streak appear when the shot slams into the metal dragon's hide, bouncing off to blow a big chunk out of a pillar. A fourth capsule appears, this time a metallic crab scuttles out, pincers ready to do battle with Sytt. The dragon itself whips it's tail at Sytt while using claws that looked shorter a moment ago to slash at Saeroth.

"This Way!" Orders Sunny G. "I hear the sound of battle. "Alaina, it's time for some on-the-job training. You're going to learn to harness the energies of the sun and it stellar bodies."

They approach the combatants locked in battle and Sunny G's attention turns towards the metallic dragons. His essence flares in the presence of the two intruders. His body and that of Alaina are sheathed in a fiery aura.

His attention turns to the largest metallic dragon and he flings his battle axe at the beast. Misssing by an scant inch, the blow is intended to get it attention, not injure the mysterious creature.

Knowledge Check: Arcana. Let's find out who's our adversary, shall we.

Sunny G remembers a gift given to him a while ago. And there are three metal dragons.

Looking at the battle axe and then in the direction it came from, the dragon spots SGH and moves down the pillar towards him.

I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to get the site to come back up...sheesh.

Afternoon all :)

Using his god-like abilities of mnemonic recall, Sunny G recollects a mental picture of his gift. If material, you summons it into his hands. If it is knowledge, he accesses the it in order to utilize it against this metallic creature.

Turn down the dang wattage Sunny boy! Some folks around here are tryin to rest.

Devlyn watches the noisy chaos unfolding in the vault around him as Sunny G and the others catch up down below. He had to move quickly out of the way as the ferryman attacked this thing, for fear of getting accidently swept off the ceiling.

Thinking to himself that there might have been a chance to parley with this thing, he almost calls down to the others. When he sees Sunny G and Alaina burst into flames, he decides that his energy is better spent getting clear of the soon-to-be molten hole in the ceiling. Whatever he could have contributed to this just got thrown out the proverbial window... ;)

Tell me about it :/ I've reviewed Allura's character stats like ten times since this started. I am abso-fracking-lutely useless in this particular encounter. Why are we here again :)

To answer your question, I'm not sure why we're here either - we've blown a week for not much other than a handy excuse to miss the war. Just can't win for losing this month... :)

Devlyn could take the fight to this thing on its own terms, but nobody would know he was up there. That tends to be a bad tactic when the heavy artillery (read: spellcasters) are about to unleash napalm-salsa death across your general area/zipcode ;P

Sorry, part of that is my fault. Real life (chest cold) and my real job (another company inspection) kept me away from the computer and Sunny G. is a bit paranoid after the last encounter with the Hammer of Death and he pretty sure something or someones is mounting an attack on the Sanctum. When and where I do not know. Even his god-like clairvoyance has its limits. Anyway, combat may not be over. I'll see how it goes in the following posts.

Oh, Aberzombie. The Cranky MacOld Guy is getting well old. Get with the thread or get off the thread.

Oh, its knowledge

"Ah, I know what you are now."

"Stand your ground, all of you," he says. "Hold your weapons ready, but don't strike until I give the command."

He proceeds towards the metallic dragon and says, "you were left for me as a gift were you not. Cease your attacks now." This voice echos towards the Yugoloth. "This includes you as well. This is an order."

Devlyn's voice echoes from the shadowed upper reaches of the vault, most glad that cooler heads have prevailed:

"Thank you!"

Allura was relieved to hear Devlyn's voice. With all the clashing and clanging that she had heard in the dark reaches above them, she couldn't help but worry about him.

Devlyn's not going to come out of the shadows just yet - he wants to make sure his instincts about this thing are right first. We'll see if that unfurls in the hour-long window I have when I get home. Speaking of - time to commute! Back in an hour or so :)

In answer to SGH's question, the metallic dragon bobs it's head. The smaller dragons fly back to their capsule and the cannons sink back into it's body.

And I'm back for an hour ;)

Devlyn, satisfied that this was all a misunderstanding (at least for the moment), quietly makes his way to a pillar near Allura and the others, then comes back down on the side facing away from the dragon. He then steps out from behind the column.

"Well, that could have certainly been awkard," he says good-naturedly.

Saeroth glares but pulls back his scythe from hacking the dragon in half. He goes moodily to examine his ferry.
"Damn it! The jerk damaged my rudder! This takes ages to repair, I have to pray to Charon and stuff and he gets really cranky about his best stuff getting damaged!"

Hey Kobold Cleaver, I noticed you're having conversations with yourself again. I've had problems like that, but my doctor gave me some great meds...

The smaller dragons are released again, this time to attack the poodle.

Silly poodle, role-playing requires thumbs!

Her lance flares and the flames glint off her chainmail bikini

Sorry, I can't leave. It's a compulsion - a deep-seated need to post in threads at the top of the section, in the lunatic belief that I can attach myself to their popularity and prove that my life has some form of meaning. Besides, my therapist says it will help me build my self-esteem.

I just found out I'm going to be away from my workstation for a little while this morning (new merchandise configuration issues - yay).

If you can get them someplace where they can get caught up (off-camera) on everything that happened, I say go ahead and get them out of here. I'll hopefully be able to check back in by lunchtime (fingers crossed)...

Don't stress about it. I've got a sick kid at home today, so not as much time as usual either. Those who were in the battle have already had a couple of days of dealing with the aftermath. Give me a bit to figure out how to deal with the time compression problems.

Alright, looks like I'm back. I hope your young one gets to feeling better soon :)

We may need to cook some other sidebar event up to occupy them and get the timelines straight again. Or some place where the flow of time is just slightly faster (though still within the speed of plot, of course...)

"Hey Boss, that was a close one," replies the Lord of All Insects graciously. "Does this mean I have to clean up after it."

"Hey, we want,

"...to know,"

"...where Earl,"

"...disappeared." speaks the twin Dromites, each completeing a part of the dialouge.

Ignoring the antics of the Yugoloth's, Sunny G turns his attention towards the metalic dragon. "Where is the thrid dromite?"

Sunny G? Is that anything like Sunny D? I luv that stuff. What a great drink, especially on a hot summer day, after you've been wokring with shrooms for hours....

Commuting home - I'll check back in about an hour :P

And back for a wee bit... ;)

Signing off - good night all :)

At first the dragon does not respond. Then it looks at the other dromites and realizes why everyone is staring at it. Rearing up on it's hind legs, a compartment on it's stomach area opens, revealing a paralyzed dromite. A hyperdermic emerges from the compartment and jabs the dromite, who stops being paralyzed and slumps to the ground, asleep and unharmed(except for recent two needle marks).

Good Morning All... :)

Just because you say it's a good morning, doesn't make it true.

AND STAY OFF MY LAWN!

I forgot to ask you this yesterday, Lynora:

Spoiler:
I don't know if you've had any chance to think about our little timeline problem due to the flu stuff yesterday, but did you want to do something about tweaking Allura's abilities with this? (You were concerned about her ability to be effective against the cyberdragon, so I thought I would float the idea). Maybe something comes up to take them 'out of time' for just long enough to catch up to everybody else, but they are really gone for a bit longer. Nothing as far reaching as Angel's future-jaunt, but maybe they get trapped in one of the artifacts that are stored in Sunny G's Vault...

I'm just thinking off the cuff now. Don't mind me ;P

The Dalesman wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Spoiler:

I think there was something we were told about the doors to the vault having some sort of dimensional weirdness about them. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to get shunted to a pocket dimension for a couple of days. Basically it would be a month or two to them, but two days to everyone else. This work okay? As far as power level, there are some seriously screwy things about Allura's levels. She's always gonna be darn near useless vs. constructs. Her favored soul levels are good. But psion was a screwy choice for someone with a 13 intelligence. Wilder would be better. And she could really use a couple more levels in that too, so she can access some of the more fun mind-affecting powers. :)
