I know you are swarmed at the moment, so no worries on rushing stuff, Lyn. Is there anything I should be rolling?
Give me a craft roll. Probably untrained unless you have craft siege weapons. :)
As they inspect the weapons, Xikti'irrr finds that one of the ballista has a damaged spring that would prevent it from firing. He gives the new part to Quentin and asks him to attempt the repair.

She nods to Gracie, then walks a bit around the ship with Fish, trying to find him.She eventually finds what she imagines must be him in the hold sorting through various items and muttering to himself about how arrows don't grow on trees. He looks up.
"Who are you?" he says in a hissing voice.
She smiles to him, "The captain sent me, said I was supposed to help you on my stay on the ship."

Not quite craft siege engines, but close. A weapon is a weapon, right?
Quentin is clearly ready to make a good impression.
Xikti'irrr waves Quentin aside and redoes the repair making sure to show the process as he does.
"You are eager, but you rush in. Some tasks require patience and knowledge to acquire. On a ship your life often depends on how well your equipment functions. You must learn to look closer, pay attention to the details. And ask for help when needed," the thri-kreen adds dryly. "Now come along. We will continue our work and I will teach you how these things work."

She offers a hand, "I am Sanura, and my friend here is Fish."
Is there anything I am going to need to roll for this, or do you want me to just act it out?
Just act it out. I don't think there's a skill check for counting. :)
Sssysssil tilts his head and looks at Fish quizzically.
"A dog named Fisssh," he chuckled. "You have an interesssting sssenssse of humor, Sssanura."
Sanura Agashti
Sanura grins back, "Yes, I must confess that I picked the name because it was humorous to me. Plus at the time of my druid training, I was missing the wonderful sea, which has always been my true home."
She then gets to work, careful with the items she is counting, and making sure to make notes of the numbers so she does not get mixed up.

This time you actually get a laugh out of her.
"Okay, so maybe you're alright," she grudgingly admits. "Look, I'm gonna go down for a few minutes so I can grab a bite. You stay up here and keep a lookout. No goofing off. It can mean people's lives if you don't spot an enemy early on."
With that she shifts into a small siamese cat and hops out of the crow's nest leaping and climbing down the rigging to the deck below.

"Never up close. I saw something of that size once on a voyage that skirted near the edge, but we were more concerned at the time about steering the ship so that we didn't fall off."
"I don't think the Cap'n is going to want to do that again anytime soon. Several skins of the giant manta rays could work? Should we encounter them again?"

"Yes, that could work. I haven't seen many of the big rays around, but where there's one there could be more. We'll keep an eye out."

"Well, you do seem to have a talent for this. That's good. I might even get some rest from time to time now," she adds jokingly.

Garan takes a mop and starts swabbing the deck.
As he works, he asks the kobold "What do ye mean, penance?".
"I angered the Watcher," the kobold says mournfully, "and was banned from the caves and mines for not less than five years. Longer if I do not suffer sufficiently while I am forced to toil in the harsh sun. I must not become comfortable or I will not be allowed back below."

Adrick wonders up to the gnome cook and introduces himself " Name's Adrick, always great to meet a fellow chef of your calibur. With luck I may learn a good bit from you. I would like to see the galley." Adrick follows the gnome and takes mental note of what is what all the while asking various questions on herbs, spices etc.

Yep. This is a new one. You get a new check every hour.

Oh, alright. Perception: 5
That's...impressive. Apparently you have two kinds of luck, bad and worse. ;)
You hear a shout from the rigging below you. "Kuo-toa off the starboard bow! Closing fast!"
Lynora de Trevante
"Heh, that cloud looks like a fish- wait, kua-toa! Oh, this just gets better and better."
Wait, the girl left to get something to eat, and I make another Perception check every hour. How long is she taking!?!
Yeah, let's just say that someone is in serious trouble after this battle, and it isn't you. :)

Perception to hear the yell: 1d20=19
You hear it loud and clear. Anyone not above deck only needs a 5 on Perception to hear it. The first mate is pretty dang loud when he needs to be.
Quentin Silverhome
Perception 5, hm? Well, we will just see about that. If anyone could miss it, its probably me.
Quentin's head perks up from the part he is focused on at the cry. Setting it aside he dashes towards the side of the ship, drawing his rapier as he goes, ready for battle.
You know, I really did come closer to failing that then I feel comfortable with.

Sanura suddenly stops counting inventory, standing up straight as she pauses to listen. She looks to the lizardfolk, "Did you hear that? I believe there is trouble up top."
"Yesss. I mussst help man the ballisssta. You can choossse to help with that, or however you think you can be the mossst ussse."
Adrick Balasar
As Adrick gets led around the galley he comments to the gnome "My friend, I have seen many kitchens and galleys in my days and by far this..." the cleric pauses as he catches some yelling going on above deck "Sounds like trouble up top. My companions may need my help. May we continue this tour later" Adrick then draws his bow and heads top deck to see whats going on

"While I am sure I would be able to aid you with the ballista, I believe I would do a better job if I were to able to fight and cast my spells. Good luck to you up there." With a nod to him, she motions for her wolf to follow, and she heads up to the deck, taking out her scythe as she does so.

Bah, sorry, I put up the post with my perception check and I was thinking the initiative was in there too. Init (1d20+3=15)
And I know that Sanura is temporarily out of commission on a couple other threads she posts on. You might need to roll initiative for her until her RL settles down.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll roll for her and she can jump back in whenever she's able.
