Icy ray at the leader's head.

The ray hits the kuo-toa squarely in the head and he shakes his head and grimaces, but does not seem to be substantially hurt by it.

The first wave of Kuo-toa are reaching the ship and are trying to climb up the sides. Several crew members take up positions near the rails, while a couple crank back the ballista.

Fin climbs out of the crow's nest and begins to shimmy down the mast with surprising speed.

Moving down the mast until some kua-toa are in range, then using Eldritch blast if possible. Also, staying at least 10 feet above the deck. 1d20+5;2d6

Dark blood stains the water, but the creature continues swimming towards the ship.

Anyhooo, we can start this back up as soon as tomorrow if you still want to.

Glad you are feeling better then...

Still kinda "frozen in time" blasting the leader in the head/face with my icy ray.

If by leader you mean the first kuo-toa within range then sure. :)

Now roll your to hit and tell me how much damage you do. :)

Let's just jump back into the combat and we'll see who's still around by the time we get to the end of it. Those still on board can continue, those who moved on can be written out at that point. And we'll see if we need to add any players.

The kuo-toa have the ship surrounded and are closing fast. Those on board the ship can now see their dark forms moving through the water.

You found the thread! Woot! I've been looking for it for two weeks now. I even looked in the archives. I probably scrolled right past it a couple dozen times without realizing it. Definitely a critical failure on that Perception check. :)

Within the room the group finds a minotaur in the throes of a drug-induced rage rending another corpse limb from limb. Blood and body parts are scattered throughout the room. You would guess he's murdered three women so far. He looks up as you enter, eyes red with bloodlust.

Sigh. Sorry for the delay. My son's birthday ended up eating a lot more of my time this week than I had expected. And a holiday weekend, etc. I'm trying to catch up.

And I know that Sanura is temporarily out of commission on a couple other threads she posts on. You might need to roll initiative for her until her RL settles down.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll roll for her and she can jump back in whenever she's able.

I only have initiative from half of you. If I could get initiative from Sanura, Arioch, Garan, and Quentin please, then I can determine who acts before the kuo-toa. Once I know that, I'll get the first round of combat started.

As he nears the top of the stairs, Timmis sees a leg draped over the top rail of the bannister dripping blood onto the stairs. The rest of the woman(?) that it once belonged to lies strewn across the hallway. The crashing noises continue in one of the rooms on this floor.

Inside the door, there are girls running every which way. Many of them are screaming at high volume. There is crashing coming from up the stairs.

Adrick wonders up to the gnome cook and introduces himself " Name's Adrick, always great to meet a fellow chef of your calibur. With luck I may learn a good bit from you. I would like to see the galley." Adrick follows the gnome and takes mental note of what is what all the while asking various questions on herbs, spices etc.

"Pleasure to meet you, Adrick," Horace says cheerfully. He is more than happy to show off his immaculately clean galley to a fellow cook.

After a good deal of trouble, the group manages to get the thugs, the harlot, and the gnome subdued and cuffed. They commandeer a wheelbarrow, and more than half the group escorts the prisoners back. Yarden, Savrial, and Father Timmis are left to try to deal with whatever else goes wrong here. Timmis manages to help some of the residents put out the fires the gnome was trying to set before any serious structural damage occurs.

As the group stands and looks around for any more trouble they hear crashing and screaming from inside one of the buildings.

Wait, wouldn't it just be basic Pythagorean Theorem? A^2+B^2=C^2, where B=the height of the mast in feet, C=60, and A=the radius of the circle of the deck around the mast I can see? Of course, probably should take about 5 feet off of that because it would only be up to about knee height, and if there are multiple levels of deck I don't know what to do, but close enough.

This is probably the time to mention that I barely pulled off a D in Algebra. :( Dyscalcula makes maths hard. Give it your best guess. The ship is a caravel if that helps, but I haven't had any luck in my research finding the normal height of the mast.
