Did you get my article? I hope so.
I mentioned this in the e-mail, but I wanted to say it here: Thanks to everyone for undertaking this project. You definitely are showing the love by working for free on what will be a sizable publication.
I'll second that. This is a great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.
To be honest, I was hooked the moment Lil used the word "concision," rather than "conciseness" in her initial post. I've been trying hard to get my co-workers to adopt the term. After all, we don't say "preciseness"... =/ I tend to like it when I'm sharing some kind of wavelength with an editor.

Good luck to all the professionals and superstars out there who are taking on this mountain though... :D
And now I shall endeavour to stop cluttering up this thread with my inane meanderings.
Seriously Charles, I'm no professional. I think that will be obvious. ^_^ But I was aghast at a lack of dervish type prestige class for Dawnflower clerics so I modified mine and sent it in. I hope people like it and a few people will enjoy it I'm pretty sure, but it's my first real such thing. At the very least, noone gets better by not practicing and submitting and trying, etc.

Gawd, I'm as far from a professional as you can get!
I've written my own stuff for myself and friends, but have never had anything published.Just because you see the RPG Superstar Tag doesn't mean I'm automatically "more acomplished" than you at something. One nifty idea does not a genius make unfortunately.
Criticism and Feedback (as long as they're constructive and not just "Joo suXXors!!!") are very much welcome in my opinion. It's the way we grow and better ourselves. You can choose to disregard it or take it on board, it's up to you (and hell, I've done both before), but ultimately it is well worth having that Feedback.

Definitely. One way to better yourself as an author is to accept and consider constructive criticism from someone viewing your work with an objective eye. Since the fanzine's editors will be blind jurying the works (hence the numbers, no names) they're reviewing them on the weight of the writing itself; who the author is has no bearing.
Likewise, I'm not a professional, though I've had my share of rejection letters. The best ones come with critique; if an editor takes the time to give you feedback, it means they were interested enough to take the time to give it.

![]() |

Absolutely. Another great way to improve your writing is to critique the work of others. I don't have as much time as I'd like to do that, but I am a member of a writing group and we frequently read and comment on each other's creations.
The incentive to provide someone in the group with a critique is that they will, in turn, provide you with help and feedback in the future. And reading with a critical eye definitely helps keep you focused on the technical aspects of writing well when it comes time to sit down and go to work on your own masterpiece.

Oh, lemme join Lilith's effort to gather advertisers to cover the print cost.
*casts Suggestion*
WRTITE LILITH ABOUT ADS
It can be to promote whatever RPG-related stuff you want, you can also put up THANKS PAIZO, YOU ROCK ads or an I WENT TO PAIZOCON AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY FANZINE ad, and so on.
We design your add if you don't/can't do it yourself, no extra cost.
Please help out!

Lilith |

Alright, all art orders written and sent out to their respective artists, edits continue to roll in (which I will send out to the authors when I get a moment to breathe this week).
Now for the fun part.
Trying to get this monstrosity printed will be an interesting venture, and one that involves that little thing called cash. We can't sell for profit, but I would like to cover printing costs. Here's the deal:
1.) If you're attending the convention and have a badge, you'll get one for free.
2.) If you contributed to the fanzine, you'll get a free print copy.
3.) If you donate to the Print the Fanzine Cause, you'll get a free print copy.
4.) If you advertised in the fanzine, you'll get a free print copy. If you're interested in advertising, please contact me - my email is in my profile.
Since this is a limited print run, I have to limit print copies to one per person. A PDF copy will be available to download for free after the convention and may/may not contain additional information that had to be cut.
Again, if you want to donate or advertise in the fanzine, please contact me! Every little bit helps. :D

*Fanzine Bump*
The fanzine is ints its deepn into the production stage already and we wnated to "report" to you guys.
The Writters
Launch an open call for paizonian submissions and build up a 30ish page black and white fanzine with it. This was vastly exceeded!

The Fanzine Description
So far we have exceeded our expectations and outgrew the original 30ish size into a 80-100 pages fanzine. The size will be a tad smaller than Letter size (around 7.5x10”) printed black and white inside and with a full color cover. The design and layout will be made by pro’s, so you can expect a nice professional-looking fanzine.
The Fanzine will be available for free in PDF after the Con and may contain more info that had to be cut in case we don’t cover the costs.
Our Current Challenge
The fanzine has grew too large for our pockets. This project was going to be funded with personal monies from its Producers and a donation from friendly sources and the cost was pretty much covered, but since it grew pretty much three times, we find ourselves in a dire lack of funding. This brings us to offer commercial space to fund the printing and to ask for kind donations and sponsors.
Advertising: You can get ¼, ½ or a full page to advertise whatever you want (no pr0n or such :P ) We provide the design for your ad. Prices are quite reasonable, please contact Lilith for this <–her email is in her profile. Advertisers get a printed copy of the fanzine. You can also put up your avatar or something and thank the Paizo folks for their awesomeness, that’s a valid use of advertising space :D
Patronage I will give away the original art I make for the Fanzine for those people that might be interested in it. I will send one along with a printed fanzine signed by as many participating Paizonians I can get to sign it. This is limited to 7 finished pieces and 7 sketches (all art I’m making, partial cover art included!). I hope we can get healthy donations from patrons to cover the print costs. Contact me if interested!
Donations: If you donate to the Fanzine, you get a printed copy as well. Any amount is appreciated!
Printed Fanzine Distribution
We will limit the distribution to one copy per person will be distributed ONLY for these persons:
All donator, patrons and advertisers get one copy.
All contributors –writers, editors and artists- get one copy.
All PaizoCon attendants with a Badge get their copy.
The PDF will be distrubuted freely after the Con. In case we manage to cover all costs, we may print a few extra copies and try to make it available to more people.
Current Fanzine Goals
Submissions 100% (more like 300%!) -Thanks a lot!!!
Editing 50% -Keep it up!
Art 10% -Just starting
Costs 30% -will stop eating for 2 months!
The Fanzine is coming to life but we need some extra jolt. Thank you all for your cooperation!

I scored one of my favorites and I can't wait to see what he does with the illustration!

Who is doing the illustration for my article? Or, will I be surprised when I see the fanzine?
(Oh, and for whomever edited my article, I hope it wasn't too much work)

I don't know who is illustrating your article. I only know who's doing mine because I've worked with him before and he shot me a message asking for a clarification.

Daigle wrote:I just realized that I responded to you through Hugo's response.
I feel like a doofus.Since I quoted the whole message, it looked like I was responding to you. Sorry for the confusion.
Edit: Hopefully Hugo can tell me. But I can wait. (I think)
You'll have to wait and see ;)

Does no good to pester Hugo, he doesn't have the master list...
Heh heh... *hides the list behind her back*
Generally, what I did for art is read the pieces submitted, came up with an idea of what would suit the article, picked an artist that I felt would best be able to interpret that, and sent them the art order for it.

::tries to grab for the list, but misses because his arms aren't thousands of miles long::
You know, Lilith, your method is far too logical and runs a serious risk of producing a well-made and artistically valid publication. I suggest you go back and start over using the "secret notes in balloons with dart-throwing" method.

Wow, this is going to be well and truly Full of Awesome!!!
I can't wait to see the finished product. This will be my little slice of Paizocon, since it's just a tad expensive for me to fly over there from Australia just at this juncture.
*will save* to resist counting down the days 'til I can see the Fanzine in all it's Glory!
Dammit, failed again. Stupid low wisdom...

Ditto. This will also be the first time I've had actual fiction published! I'm so psyched.
