Ah, now Sunny G. feels alone again with the board's resident deity. Could you guys be visiting him in the future?

Well, now that I'm not tied to the Eyrie, it is possible. :)

Of course we'll probably be running from certain doom and screaming for help at the time. ;)

Now of course, if anything bad should happen to Arielle, or even threaten to do so, Lynora Jill can feel extra guilty about it, having turned down a possible offer of shelter for her somewhere possibly more secure....
<insert evil grin here>

Okay, goodnight.

I have Monday and Tuesday off, so I'll be on-line until Wednesday afternoon. Let's get some posts out shall we?

Shadow Lodge

I've posted Aidan's dreams over in the Realm of Dreams. That's pretty much what he's been dreaming for a bit, but he thought he could take care of it himself(see the blob of useless red gemstone in the room he was using before he went Dark Fire). Obviously, he couldn't.

Wow. That is one messed up dream.

Why thank you! I must say, it wasn't easy fitting everyone into the nightmare. When memories mix, dreams become interesting...

Shadow Lodge

Of course, now the problem is fixing him so he doesn't go Dark Fire Aidan again...

FYI, CH won't stay cooped up in the Eyrie indefinitely.

Fine by me. :)

Hmm. Looks like this whole thing may have died. Just a little.
It occurs to me, though, that there may be a reason for this. Namely, the way we handled plots.
See, looking back at this, it looks like one person always led each plot. I led the Servants of the Board thing (albeit poorly), Lynora ran the Goddess thing, and so on...we never really talked about the plots beforehand, or tried to organize things so that we really cooperated on where each plot went.
I stopped reading the threads after a while, so I don't know where they left off. But if anybody else is interested in giving this another try, I know that I, at least, would be interested.

CALLING ALL FREE-FORMERS!

Well, we have to share a forum with word games, but it's better than nothing. Anyone still up for this? Gimmie a shout out!

Hey! I saw that! Those aren't onyx gems, those are obsidion! Cheapskate! Now we have to start the whole spell over!

In all seriousness, I'm still up for it. I know I used to be a lousy role player, and I pushed the Servants plot a bit too hard (I kept pretty much ranting about how awesome they were), but I think I've improved. At least in the not-dying-every-few-pages kind of way. This was a great game, and I think that if we try we can drum up the money for an actual resurrection spell.

You know I'm always up for a good free-form game. :)

Have I mentioned I hate talking to myself?

Patrick Curtin wrote:

OK, Now that our little storytelling game has kinda mutated beyond all reckoning, I am creating this thread to post up any Out Of Character issues anyone has with the ongoing OTD storyline.

To Summarize:

The Steel Tsar and Candle Lighter prepare to take on the heroes currently taking council at Club Calistria. The Steel Tsar is the Champion of Flame, pledging fealty to Candle Lighter after his creation by the Anarcho-Syndicalist Peasant over at the Realm of King David and the Paizochat roundtable. The peasant was killed for his troubles.

Candle Lighter has just killed the Kitten Vikings off. Alaina has been hit by Earth energy accidentally, but has recovered, with the addition of an intersting back tat. The Tree Emperor has proclaimed her the Fire Flower.

Lynora-Jill has regrown her wings and been proclaimed Champion of the Winds. The Bard (and his son Rio) have taken the Champion of the Sea position. Jack Hammer has become the Champion of Earth. The Council of the Winds has landed at the Roleplaying Thread, but has yet to act. Lynora-Jill is attempting to find Sunny Godhead to enlist his aid in discovering the Spark of Life a possible weapon to use against the dracolich Candle Lighter and his construct lieutenant The Steel Tsar.

A new hero, the Dalesman, has just arrived at Club Calistria. The mysterious Eighth Runelord has been involved in several shady negotiations offstage. Several Jacks are among the heroes, as is Rio's pokemons and Margarinefrog and Lemmiwinks (for what they are worth)

The Thieving Wasp is the Heir to Kobold Cleaver, a Lord of the Board, who is currnetly trapped with the Goddess of Dangerous Knowledge who was cast out of Lynora-Jill earlier in the story. KCs sacrifice made it possible to imprison the Goddess, but he is imprisoned as well. His Cleaver was originally picked up by the Grey Mouser, who didn't realize its raw power until it blew the Crimson Crime Syndicate's vault to smithereens. The Grey Mouser, after attempting to stop the Steel...

You know, this synopsis on the first page really was a great idea. I think we should make another, since I have little idea what's going on.

Dang. So thus far we only have three people. My guess would be a lot of the others just didn't see the change, but it's quite a shame.

Well, E7 is still recovering, the Dalesman is a bit swamped with work thus far, and Blue Pigeon is still bogged down in real life. So yeah, not a lot of people on board at the moment.

Hmm...almost seems like somebody up there doesn't like our game. :P

It's hard to believe, but my excuse for forgetting all that is that I don't read FAWTL. Yes, apparently that thread is occasionally a good thing.

"Serafina, what happened?"
He begins to fumble with his belt pouch to get to the potion he kept for emergencies.

Sorry all. Real Life has swamped me at the moment. Just a quick question:

  • Should we continue the 'old' story arcs
  • Use the old characters to make new story arcs
  • Start totally fresh with new characters and story arcs

I've been going back and forth for the last hour debating whether or not to post anything here. Here's hoping I made the right choice...

QFT. This is my busy time of year at work, made even more so by infrastructure 'upgrades' that aren't going softly into that good night...

My two coppers:

I think it we need to avoid the first option. The old story arcs need to be put to bed - it's been too long, and there was too much animosity generated in the meltdown last year.

We all have some characters we are still fond of. Nothing says we can't keep using them, but we should either move the timelines forward a good bit from where we left things, or pull the classic 'alternate universe' bit.

Either that, or wipe the slate clean and start over completely (though that invalidates the whole idea of rebooting these threads).

Counterpoints...?

We'd been moving a bit towards shifting the focus towards the kids anyways. Might be good to shift the timeline forward and let them be the ones taking center stage or just focus on totally new characters. Basically say the old characters are busy doing epic level things. Maybe one or two might make a cameo now and then, but never in more than an advisory position. That sound good?

It may be the only way to truly start fresh, aye....

Sounds good. Frost is pretty happy guarding the Eyrie. The Servants are for the most part gone (I still regret knocking off a villain with so little ado, but I guess it couldn't be helped). The survivors were either low-rank or kept away from the controversial projects.
Advancing the timeline shouldn't hurt. That'll leave Sytt, who's not all that powerful, the survivors (among them, one, the goblin, is meant to be a main character of mine), and Jay Frogskin. Frogskin is still trapped, of course, but he alone wouldn't be affected by the passage of time, and he's not too powerful.
I'd like to get the meeting between the survivors and some representative of the Eyrie done, if that's alright. Hopefully, this won't be a repeat of my blunder with Dral. That was just embarrassing. This is just meant to introduce Garble, then the time skip can go ahead.

Shadow Lodge

It's easy for me to send most of my characters away. Aidan and Oroth have a whole new world to explore and take care of, and that was the part of the Green The Bard was going to send his Champion Power, after which he and Ellara were going to patch things up and travel again. Rio gots Serafina and his original world to keep himself occupied. Kiba is preety much going to go look for the portal that brought him, Sky, and LK here.

Barbas, Corona, Cyber Dragonborn, my Avatars, and DB Junior were mostly background characters anyway. It's safe to say that, with help, Devlyn can take out Shadow Pelt(it would be a bit harder without help, but still very possible).

Oh, right. There's also that fish who was harassing the Bard. Once the Bard is gone, he'll give up, and return to the Celestial Realms. I may bring him back if another underwater scene takes place.
EDIT: Stupid new keyboard...I just can't get used to the shift key.

I think that starting over is the best bet. I am more than willing to run a few antagonists should we need them.

Shadow Lodge

I've got some people that were barely used as it was. Corona's a Lich, so if we start over, she'll still be around to cause trouble.

EDIT: Or I could make my favorite alchemist concept(s). One's a candymaker, the other is a secret! ;)

Sounds good. I have been kicking around a crazy gnome tinker concept, to bring back our old favorite, the Steel Tsar. (Gotta love a construct that can be rebuilt!)

Shadow Lodge

Try this class out for ideas.

And thus transpires the 'big reveal': Sytt was never a true yugoloth. He still worked for Charon, but as a type of daemon called a somesdaemon. When he managed to pull off a stunt which really ticked off the yugoloths (the daemons' rivals), they decided to teach him a lesson. He was bound into a yugoloth body. The spell can't be reproduced easily, though, which is why they couldn't make him a true yugoloth. That's also why he couldn't' advance in rank. The spell only lasted a certain length of time, though, and it just expired.
Note: He's actually not much more powerful than he was before. Before, his numerous items and suchwhat gave him the advantage he needed. Now, though, he's a lot more unpredictable. Not only is he free now, his superiority complex has returned and he believes himself pretty much infallible.

Ooh, look at the little puppy ripping the silly clerics to shreds! (^-^)

Okay, I am ready for the time skip when you guys are. How are we going to do it, then? 'Ten years later...'?

The time warp brings a problem to the Eyrie, or more specifically, Blodwen and myself. Five problems to be exact, seven if you count naming and who get control of the baby.

What do you mean, "control"? I take it I missed something?

How long until the eggs hatch (or however that works), then?

The eggs have already hatched, gotten names, etc. Those are the nestlings we keep talking about. The nestlings are easier to decide on. One of us gets the Twins(Nodin and Notin) and one of us gets the others(Amiri and Lark) to control as aliases.

In case you missed it, Blodwen is pregnant, which means we have another baby to think about.

Hmm. So the 'custody' issue needs to be resolved. On the baby (I didn't miss it, just misunderstood a bit), I have a perfect solution: Jay Frogskin possesses the baby through a loophole in the Mask's binding spell. He then pretends to be normal, leading to great hilarity and the inevitable drama as he kills his parents and eats them!

CD
...what? Why are you giving me that look?
Needless to say, I'm joking.

Let's see. Amiri is the first into trouble and Lark is the one with the psionic abilities as well as the sweetest disposition.

And Nodin and Notin are unrepentant troublemakers.

So which would you rather play?

I don't really have strong feelings about which of us gets to play Sky and Blodwen's baby, so if you've got a good character concept, feel free.

Hmmm..... [Scratches chin thoughtfully]

*Laughs maniacally*

Shadow Lodge

I think the better question is, who(excluding KC) would be better witht he Troublesome Twins?

The last time I played a kid, it was a little CG~CN changeling girl in an Evil campaign. Before her Evil side/personality took over she accomplished much.

1) Got a job as a waitress while posing as an adult(which the other character thought she was anyway).

Funny thing about that...:
When she got the job she was warned(obscurely) that if anyone didn't get their food, she'd be dinner. The Tavenr owner even showed that he had teeth filed to points. Her first night, she does excellent, probably would have gotten Employee of the Month had the title existed. So after he grudginly compliments her, she looks at him and says "I guess you're going hungry tonight."

2) Released an Angel from a Flesh to Stone spell and accidently released a Demon Lord, which got her and the others in the group exiled.
3)Slept in a strange tunnel that caused everyone who slept in it to sleep for a really long time.
4)Got caught in a temple during a school day while posing as a young boy, and ended up the popular kid after teaching an uppity 16 year old illegitimate son-of-a-noble he's no better than the rest of the kids in the "Advanced Class".
5) Illegally started teaching magic to the kids who stuck around her the most.

Do you see where this is going? She eventually became the Empress in a world that worshipped the very demon her good-self was supposed to kill(she was still going too, but only to attain god-hood...). It really is too bad the DM had to move for her job...

Well, I've got my own set of troublesome twins in the works, so why don't you take Nodin and Notin and have fun with that. I look forward to the destruction and devastation. ;)

Helm and Hastur are Arielle's little brothers, and Arielle was enough of a learning experience that their powers are VERY tightly bound. ;)

I'm willing to let someone else play Hastur (the good twin) but I plan on having fun with Helm.

Shadow Lodge

So after the ten year time-warp suggested by KC, we'll have: 4 11 year old dire wereeagles, and one 10(?) year old dire were-eagle/starhawk half elf(full elf) demi-godling(I know the perfect class for this one).

*shakes head in disbelief*
The families that call the Eyrie home...

And a pair of nine year old humanish troublemakers.

I've been reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians to the kidlet, and I'm starting to think we need our own Camp Half-Blood. ;)

Personally, I'm none too fond of those books, but they have their merits.

I may even try my own child character, since the plot seems to be trending towards the 'young'uns'. I have a particular concept I'm itching to try out.
