Miasshirra |
Miasshirra steps in front of Zilroy and Cadwyn. In a quiet voice she says, "Let's see what we're dealing with before we burst in there with swords drawn, shall we?"
She then moves to check out the doors to see if the inhabitants have set up any sort of alarm system.
Not sure if Perception or Disable Device is appropriate, so I'll give you both.

It appears that no traps or alarm systems have been rigged. Miasshirra gently pushes the door an inch to get a better view of the front bedroom. She sees six goblins scattered about the room, sleeping on various bits of broken furniture. One goblin is clutching an empty bottle of wine. Others are covered with bits of food and fur.
She steps back silently to peak into the back bedroom. This room has three goblins sprawled out on a comfortable looking bed. This piece of furniture appears to still be intact.
Miasshirra |
"Goblins. Six in here, three in there," Miasshirra whispers loudly enough for the humans to hear. "Give me to the count of thirty, then you can be as loud and violent as you like."
Unless someone stops her, Miasshirra draws a handful of throwing knives and slips into the first bedroom, creeping past the sleeping goblins and hiding in the shadows on the far side of the room.
Throwing Knives = Darts
Rynia |
Rynia grows pale as she sees Miasshirra draw the knives. "Wait ... " she whispers. "They haven't hurt anyone, as far as we've heard! Why're you gonna kill 'em without at least finding out what they're doing here? Shouldn't we catch 'em, and let the watch deal with them?"
Gallows |
"Aye," whispers Gallows,"no justice in killing unarmed, sleeping goblins. There's nothing to suggest they've killed anyone. I'm sure the knives are a 'just in case' measure, right? Here's what we do: block all the exits, the rest of us start hog-tying goblins. If they fight with lethal force, we respond in kind."
Cadwyn Tallis |
Cadwyn raises his eyebrows slightly.
Hmm...acting with restraint and not just slaughtering these creatures. I think I like these folk.
"Sorry, my lady," he says aloud to Miashirra, albeit quietly, "I have to side with the rest of our companions. The goblins may be nasty little buggers, but they've not done any wrong that we can prove yet. I say we try to bring them in, which I'm sure they'll be opposed to, but save the lethal force until they show us weapons."
Rynia |
"I can be of some help in this," Rynia says. "One of my little 'tricks' is being able to fire off a burst of very-sparkly ice crystals and cold (color spray). Usually either knocks out or stuns people who get in the way. I can stand in the doorway while you tie 'em up; if they wake up, I can let the ice fly."
Rynia |
Screw it, Rynia thinks. She quickly positions herself to catch all of the goblins in the cone of effect. Holding her arm out, her eyes turn milky white as she intones a few instinctive words. A brilliant, shining burst of ice crystals flys from her outstretched hand, enveloping the small creatures.
Cast color spray DC 14.

Miasshirra dashes into the room after Rynia's spell has taken effect and begins binding the goblins with her rope.
In one large group, or tie their wrists together, or may wrists and ankles - I'm not an expert on the best way to tie people up, but Miasshirra probably is.
JollyRoger |
Gallows goes for any that haven't been caught in Rynia's color spray.
Is this where we resurrect the Use Rope skill?
A dazzling array of color shoots from Rynia's fingers. The colors seem to dance and sparkle, as if they are magic strings attached to the tips of her fingers, and she is playing a musical instrument of sight floating in the air. A small voice in the back of your head whispers "This isn't for you."
You shake your head and immediately regain focus.
The few goblins that awake from their wine induced coma are easily enamored by the colorful display. The lithe, feline woman bounds them easily and the rest of you are pleased to see all goblins in the front bedroom subdued, without shedding a drop of blood.
You hear noises from the back bedroom, sounding of some of the goblins in there are stirring. You hear soft, frightened gurgles and grunts.
Cadwyn Tallis |
"Ah, hearing voices.", thinks Gallows,"That takes me back."
Gallows advances for the rear bedroom, since the situation is in order. Hand on his sword, he calls slowly in common:
"Put your weapons down and you will live. Resist and, well, don't resist."
"Well said, my friend," Cadwyn replies with a small smile, following close by Gallows and brandishing his sword.

Shaking her head a bit, not sure where the voice came from, Rynia turns to face down the hallway, ready to unleash another spell if the goblins burst from the room.
JollyRoger |
A bottle crashes into the door jamb, missing Gallows' head by an inch. One goblin throws himself under the bed. The other two shove a broken and rotted armoir so that it falls in front of them. They duck behind it for cover.
All three goblins are screeching in their language, that can only be described as painful to the civilized ear.

Just a mental reminder to not get caught up in her own magic and for the others not to be distracted by her magical display. It was meant for the goblins, not you and your companions. I thought I was being poetic *grin*

No problem; I liked the touch.
Gallows |
Gallows' face darkens as shattered glass falls from the doorjamb about his shoulders. He pulls a flask of alchemist's fire from his belt pouch.
"I've had about all I can stands, I can't stands no more!!"
He throws the flask at the armoire, hoping to flush out the goblins.

Gallows hits the armoire dead center. The old, dry wood bursts into flames and the two goblins rush from behind it, screaming. The first goblin appears to have caught some of the pyrotechnic potion. The hair on his head and arms is burning. He runs frantically in a circle, waving his arms, screaming his goblins' chatter at the top of his lungs.
The second goblin makes a terrified bee-line for Zilroy. Before Zilroy can move, the goblin dives between his legs and curls up, cowering, behind him, holding onto one of Zilroy's strong legs.
The third goblin crawls out from under the bed, unable to contain his uproarious laughter. He rolls on the floor and points to his flaming companion.

After finishing up with the first room full of goblins, Miasshirra rushes back into hallway to see licks of flame coming from the bedroom and a goblin attack Zilroy. Roughly grabbing the creature by the neck, Miasshirra attempts to dislodge him.
Rynia |
Rynia's attention on the goblins is immediately shattered when the flames begin shooting up. "WHAT IS WITH YOU PEOPLE AND FIRE??!!!" she shouts, obviously both terrified and angry. She begins firing rays of ice and frost directly at the flames, hoping to put it out quickly.
Gallows |
Gallows pulls off his cloak and starts beating out the flames on the goblin.
"Someone grab the other one.", he says,"And in my defense, a fire elemental started the other fire. And they shouldn't ought to have thrown that bottle at me, coming in all peaceful-like as I was."
"As if losing one eye weren't enough.", he grumbles.
JollyRoger |
Zilroy turns to Rynia and says: "Oops."
He looks down at the goblin attached to his leg. "Do you speak human language? What are you doing in this house in the first place?"
The goblin looks up and Zilroy with his wide eyes. The goblin then jumps in fright, as if just realizing he has been seeking comfort behind one of his opponents. As he lets go of Zilroy's leg, Miasshirra grabs him by the scruff of the neck and hoists him into the air. His little legs and arms are flailing and he chatters away in goblin language.
So far, he has given no indication that he either speaks or understands the Imperial language

With only a couple of well placed frost rays, Rynia substantially subdues the fire.
Cadwyn Tallis |
Guys, if you can bear with me for a few more days, I'd love to stay in the game. With my situation last weekend, and a few other things that have come up, I'll be pretty much out of comission until Monday or so. I completely understand if you need to replace me. Otherwise if someone will post for me in my absence I'll be back very soon. Thanks!

She'll make sure it's completely out before turning back to the group. "I swear to Lothian, if I have to fight one more fire, the individual who caused it will be picking ice shards out of their underwear!" She'll let the others try and question our captives, for now, as she doesn't speak the goblin's language.

Don't worry about it. Post when you can. 'Til then, Cadwyn will be the strong, silent type

" 'The righteous man wages war with a just blade and a merciful heart', so sayeth Lothian and so we praise him with our deeds."
Gallows touches the ankh of Lothian to his eyepatch in supplication.
"Though I suppose I'll have to do some measure of penance for the one that caught on fire... Anyhow, let's take a look around at what they may have been doing up here."
Gallows will search the area as best he can.
