Dreav Mistcaller |
Acid splash vs. Priest: 1d20+2=6 1d3=3
Know(religion): 1d20+5=6
Dreav begins to chant. "Surrender now and live."
Darkmeer |
Shadows pull themseves around Tham, and then the surprise round begins.
Surprise round!
Borden, seizing the opportunity to get directly into position, stands at the far side of the Savran priest. This puts him in the back left corner of the room. Tham goes directly in front of the priest, shadows moving along with him.
Moonpate, turns right and walks directly past the Savran priest's wife, and is in position next to her. Kysstaa is sitting at the table, and Dreav is at the door.
This ends the surprise round. Actions, rolls (and initiatives for anyone who has not rolled one.
Moonpate |
Per my previous post, Moonpate is "ready" with Daze should the woman make a threatening move or begin a spell. Following that, he will put his rod of woe to work if they resist.
If given the time to talk:
"As my hooded friend stated, your pathetic lives are forfeit if you resist in any way. Stay seated with your hands flat on the table.
Kysstaa, good to see you in one piece. I would be happy to assist you in tying up our hosts."
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
A bit woozy from his fight and injuries, Tham has been a little out of it. Shaking off his distraction, he realized the party is in danger, and tries to jump back into the fray.
Sorry about the prolonged lack of posting. I got busy, and then when I wasn't quite as busy, I was a bit lost in the plot.
For the DM:
Darkmeer |
The Savran chuckles. "Do you really have me? Really, now?"
You begin to hear shuffling coming from further down the hall, both from where you came from and further down. You all have a horrible, uneasy feeling in your stomach.
"I do say, you are the first to make it this far. Unfortunately, my master does command that folk fear death... far more than what they do under Kelemvor's rule." He stands, making no motions with his hands.
"I do believe you are surrounded, not I." He grins evilly. "Feel free to look for yourself. I'd say surrender now and live... But I'm not really feeling generous. Surrender now and I'll kill you quickly. If not, I'll kill you so slowly you'll think it is a career."
Darkmeer |
Dreav:
Tham's shadows begin dancing anew, as if they are alive again in his presence. Dreav's acid spray goes awry, causing some acid damage to the table that Kysstaa sits at.
The woman stands up next to Moonpate, just as he casts Daze. "Fools, that woman was not killed by us, but by the child!" Screams Kindra as she is swinging wildly, trying to prevent any spellcasting from Moonpate with a dagger that just wasn't there a moment ago. Borden's swing at the priest also misses, as if something turned his sword away at the last moment. Kysstaa, stands up, deciding which party to deal with first.
Even with the sounds of battle, you hear a shuffling noise coming closer.
ready for round 2!
Dreav Mistcaller |
Dreav tries to spray the priest with acid but misses terribly.
Cast Acid Spray at the priest again 1d20+2=3, 1d3=2
DM
at least i know something for once.
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
Tham spins around his opponent, hoping to keep his shadowy concealment in effect.
Acrobatics Check d20 = 5 + 7 = 12
Tham's arm is shrouded in shadows, and two versions of his arm appears, one cutting high, the other cutting low at the priest.
Tham uses shadow blade technique, d20 roll (number one) = 11 + 3 = 14; d20 roll (number two) d20 roll 15 + 3 = 18, Tham opts to take the 18 for the attack
For the DM:
Borden Alhurst |
"I knew there was something strange about these two," Borden say as he moves to attack. Playing partners with Tham, Borden spins and weaves, around the "Savran" priest, finishing in a flanking position with Tham before lashing out once more at the fake priest.
Attack and damage
1d6[sword dmg]+1d6[sneak damage]+1[Strength]=11
I want to apologize for the extended absence, things have been rather hectic on my end, but have calmed somewhat, so I should be able to poost regularly from now on, and next time this happens, I will try to remember to drop a note so that you all know. Again, sorry about that.

Round 2 Results:
Tham and Borden's Double-Team on the Savran seems to be working exceptionally well, for the moment. He begins to cast a spell, and attempts to touch Tham, but misses. (he did make his Combat Casting check). Again, Dreav's acid spray hits the wall, hissing on the stone, but generally causing little damage.
Kysstaa stands and draws his sword, and jumps onto the table, ready to pounce on the woman, while Moonpate steps back and casts a spell on himself.
Kindra, apparently the more successful of the two, steps to Moonpate, and touches him.
Moonpate:
Welcome back Borden and Tham! On to round 3!
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
Tham nods to Borden.
"Let's make quick work of this one. I think I can do this prognosticating thing as well . . . I'm seeing him bleeding out in the near future."
Tham stays in place, and his concealment lapses. He then uses his move action to pull out his dagger, and launches into Wolf Fang Strike.
Attack roll (dagger) d20 15 + 1 = 15*
Damage (pata) = d6 roll 2 + 2 = 4
Damage (dagger)= d4 1 + 2 = 3
*16 and 17 respectively with flanking from Borden, if he doesn't move this round
Darkmeer |
Dreav:
Awaiting a response from Dreav, Kysstaa, and Borden. I'll reply tomorrow with or without their replies.
Darkmeer |
Kysstaa swings at Kindra, causing quite a gash along her shoulder, while Moonpate's club doesn't swing true again. A spell that Kindra was casting was lost when Kysstaa swung at her.
Dolan retorts to Dreav, while being stabbed from both sides by Borden and Tham, "So what? At least I will be saved from the rain of fire that the one true trifold god of the dead will bring upon the world for shunning him!" He then swings his mace at Borden, striking him for 6 points of damage.
Ready for the next round
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
Tham shakes his head as he falls into the meditative technique needed for his next attack.
"I've worshiped a trifold god of the dead before, but mine was called ale, mead, and cheap wine. I converted from his worship shortly after I left an offering in the chamberpot the next morning."
Tham's pata is shrouded in shadows, and the blade turns an impenetrable black as he punches it towards his prey.
Tham uses clinging shadow strike as a standard action to attack the priest.
For the DM:
Attack roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15*
Damage roll: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8
*17 if Tham is still getting a flanking bonus
If Tham hits, the priest has to make a DC 13 Fortitude save, and if he fails he suffers a 20% miss chance from the clinging shadows from the attack for one round.
Also, from where I'm at, can I reach another opponent, or can I reach another opponent if I take a five foot step. If I can put myself in range to be adjacent to both opponents, I'll take a five foot step into that position after my attack.
Darkmeer |
Tham's stab goes into Dolan, he screeches in pain, and then yells something to the effect of "Come my minions, take down the living non-believers!"
At that point, you see two zombies step in front of the door you entered.
Borden:
About this time, Kindra is slashed deeply by Kysstaa, and she (successfully) casts defensively through the pain, and touches Kysstaa with the spell effect, seeming to drain the life right out of him as her own wounds close. "Take this you scaled Freak!" She screams as she touches him.
Next round!
Darkmeer |
Question for DM: With Kindra attacking Kysstaa, do I have a flank or back attack against her this round?
Moonpate yells, "That's my scaled friend, witch!", and strikes out with all his pudgy might: 1d20=13
Yes, yes you do have a flanking bonus, just like Tham and Borden have a flanking bonus on Dolan. Please roll damage (you can do attack and damage as part of one post, it makes combat go faster :) ).
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
"Your minions can show up in time to carry off your corpse, you sanctimonious lunatic."
Tham wishes he had a more impressive move to pull off, but in lieu of anything else, punches out at the priest with his pata.
Damage roll if successful 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
*9 with flanking . . . ::sigh::
Darkmeer |
A round of horrible for everyone just happened.
The round is spent as everyone jockeys for position, there seems to be only four zombies that have arrived in the door, a few look as if they were woodsmen at some point in their lives. Sadly, nobody is able to land a telling blow this round, with Kindra and Dolan having much the same luck.

Kysstaa:
Next Round!
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
"If you don't mind me saying so, Grand High Delusional One, proper bantering requires witty retorts, and you, ser, are quite lacking in that regard."
Tham drives his pata in at the priest once again.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19*
Damage, just in case
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
*21 with flanking
Darkmeer |
Moonpate's club connects with Kindra, while Kysstaa's swing goes wide. Kyssta then jumps backwards off of the table, out of the reach of all the combatants. He appears to be in pretty rough shape. Borden seems distracted by the "sudden" appearance of the zombies, while Dreav, ever thinking, fires an acidic spray at them, connecting with the face of one, which sizzles and smells terrible. Tham hits Dolan, who falls to one knee and lashes out at Borden, but missing horribly before he falls to the ground unconscious. Kindra, seeing this screams at the zombies, "Kill them all!" She then attempts to stab Moonpate, not having any luck with that.
The zombies then step into the room, one standing beside Dreav, and with him blocking the way, no others are able to get into the room.
Next round!
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
Tham drives towards the woman threatening Moonpate, his shadows swirling in agitation once again and swirling around him like an umbral cocoon.
"I'd never strike a lady, but you, ma'am, are no lady."
Tham winces at his own joke, realizing the joke is older than Imaskar. He then punches out with his pata towards the woman.
Tham moves to reach his target, which activates his Child of Shadows stance, and after taking his move action, makes his standard action, an attack with his pata at his new target.
Tham has a 20% chance for attacks to miss him.
Attack roll with pata:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
In case that hits:
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Darkmeer |
Between Borden, Tham, and Moonpate's final blows, the pair goes down. The zombies, however are barely harmed by the turning that Dreav begets upon them.
The zombie trying to enter the door has similar luck attacking Dreav, making a wide swing. Apparently the zombies are following the last order they were given, or their vile nature just lets them attack the nearest foe.
Sorry for the delays again.
Thammarazs Hovaraszk |
Tham moves into a position where he can hit two zombies at the same time. If he needs to take an AoO he will, but not if he has to do something too difficult, like tumbling through their own spaces.
Once in place, Tham will use Steel Wind as a standard action and make an attack on both of them.
If Tham can move next to two zombies with a five foot step, he will, although he won't have his concealment this round. If not, Tham will move, and have concealment from his stance.
"Death things. Sad that they didn't stay that way, especially now that their breathing friends are gone."
Tham holds out his weapons, dives towards the zombies, gathers his shadows, and stabs out with both of his weapons.
For the GM:
Pata attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Pata damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Dagger attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Dagger damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Well . . . that doesn't look too promising . . . ;)
Darkmeer |
Tham, standing at the ready, watches as Moonpate's club swings in on one of the zombies, and Dreav calls up the mists, turning the zombie to dust, and frightening two other zombies into turning tail and running (shambling, really) away. The final zombie steps forward, and misses Dreav by a large margin.
You all make very quick work of the final zombie, and are free to move about (seriously, the zombie doesn't have a chance, so why make you go through more combat).

Moonpate |
"By the earth mother, that felt good!" Shaking a bit from the adrenaline, fear, and repulsion Moonpate kicks both humans to make sure they are indeed dead.
"Dreav, I'll drink to your mists too if we ever get out of here, and I'm buying. Blast these vile necromancers. T'aint even close to natural what they've done here and I'm a mind to burn this whole place down."
"Kysstaa, how are you doin'? What did that witch do to ya?"
After checking the health of his companions, Moonpate will use his Insightful feat to detect any magic and help search Kindra and Dolan.
Darkmeer |
Kysstaa replies "I'm fine Moonpate. She just took the wind out of me." He is obviously lying, he looks to be favoring the arm that she touched, and he looks as if he's takena severe beating.
The room is very quiet. Too quiet, really, when Dreav speaks up. "By the mists, we should be hurrying out of here, those zombies won't be gone long. By the mists."
