There seems to be a handful of minis that currently only have 4e stats. Is there anyone who has been creating v.3.5 or PRPG stat blocks for them. Of particular interest would be the Earth Titan 33/60, B/W 147 and the Thunderblast Cyclone 9/60, Evil U/W 168.
Many are just new variants on old familiar 3.5 or classic friends such as any of the goblins, kobolds, orcs, drow, etc., but for some of the others it would be interesting to collect stat blocks for use in my v.3.5/PRPG game... if you've got a conversion, please post it here.

Mairkurion {tm} |

Here you may find a thread where a conversion project was started. Maybe with a little encouragement they would reactivate?

Here's my version of an Earth Titan:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ydjnnzqyww2
I'm going to be throwing this at my party in a week or two. This is my first time statting up anything with this high of a CR (previous to this the highest CR beastie I'd statted was CR 5 or so) and boy does it suck sticking to core for feats (I gave it cleave for gods' sakes!).
Still, let me know what you think. I've got a Thunderblast Cyclone in the works (I have the minis dammit and I'm gonna use 'em!); if all goes well I'll plop down a link later today.

![]() |

And here's my version of the Thunderblast Cyclone:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jyfnmvmuz3y
This one came in as an epic level (CR 24) threat. Though I think that a party with some decent preparation (ex. resistance/immunity to lightning) should be able to handle it without too much trouble; assuming they find a way to get around it's AC of course.
This was also my first 'epic' monster. :D
EDIT: Fixed its AC. It was 2 higher than it should have been.

![]() |

Gene - Just when I thought these messageboards were amazing, there you go again, making it even better. I think your work on the Earth Titan and Thunderblast Cyclone was outstanding! Thank you.
Because your work is so incredible (and fast) if you happen to do any more, would you be so kind as to link them here for me. I'm sure others would appreciate it as well.
When I consider my purchases of minis, I'm open to collections that begin and end with v.3.5 or PRPG, since I'm not moving to that other game. Strangely enough, I bought those two because it seemed I could use them one way or another (substitutes, or representatives for size, etc.), but now that you've created such magnificent stats, I eagerly await the arrival of my player's characters to a level suitable to encounter these....
Thank you, sincerely,
Pax

It gladdens me to know that you've enjoyed the stats thus far. :)
I'd be more than glad to post up any additional 4E > 3.5 monsters that I stat up. I'm actually working on the three aboleths in the 4E Monster Manual right now, so I should have them up sometime later today. I'll probably also stat up a few more of the minis from the Against the Giants set just for good measure .
If there's any particular miniature or monster that you'd like converted please don't hesitate to ask and I'll see what I can do.
Cheers,
-Gene
EDIT: Also, a quick question: do you think it'd be prudent to add a small section to the stat block that outlines the monsters' combat tactics? I'd probably throw it in between the 'statistics' and 'flavor' sections and it'd have three sections to it (before combat [how the creature preps before combat if it is able to do so], during combat [how the creature behaves in battle], and morale [basically when the creature would turn tail and run or surrender]).

![]() |

Just finished statting up the Aboleth in the 4E monster manual. Here's a link:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ztjfdy5zmyy
There are three monsters included in this document (one to a page), they are as follows: Aboleth Lasher (CR 12), Aboleth Overseer (CR 16), and Aboleth Slime Mage (CR 12). These guys are fairly easy to hit in combat but they have some fairly nasty abilities to 'em, I figure they'd be a good challenge if paired with some lower CR monsters that would make capable meat shields.
Enjoy! :)

![]() |

I'll check this out when I get home from work..., but I'm sure your quality will be perfect. IS there an aboleth mini of some kind? I didn't think there was....?
Those stats were actually for a buddy of mine, he picked up Reaper's aboleth miniature and wanted something that had a decent CR to throw at us (we're level 15 in that game so a normal aboleth is too weak but an aboleth mage would probably butcher us - we have no casters in the party). It was really just something for fun.
Here's a pic of the thing if you're interested:
http://www.miniature-giant.com/goroloth-Reaper-Dark-Heaven-Legends-DHL-sku- 3230-pr-10986.html
It's kinda funky; the thing has like a 2-inch base but is roughly four inches long.
Anyways, I'm currently working on bugbears (warrior and lancebreaker) and from there I think I'll be moving onto hobgoblins and then some of the undead (I look forward to working on the plaguechanged ghoul).

![]() |

Woah!
Most wicked!!!
What are the chances I can get you to continue posting in this thread..., maybe as an encouragement to others to continue posting as well? Of, course, only for as long as you are willing....
Much appreciated! And I think the way you're writing them up shows some superior talent. Thank you.

![]() |

Glad you're enjoying thus far and thank you for all the very kind words. :)
I'll continue posting these here as long as I keep putting them together, so no worries there. I've even got this thread bookmarked so that I remember to do so.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand! Here's a link to the bugbear warrior write-up:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hbmdybkmygw
I actually enjoy how 4E has given monsters of the same type (ex. bugbears) unique special abilities and I'm really enjoying bringing that back to 3.5. Stuff like the aforelinked warrior will spice up combat a bit with its special abilities more so than a typical bugbear with fighter levels.
Once I've gotten some sleep I'll work on the bugbear lancebreaker and hopefully get some (if not all) of the hobgoblins written up.

![]() |

Apologies for not getting anything up yesterday or today, I've been dealing with a migraine and it's keeping somewhat vegetated.
If my previous migraines are an example I should be better by Friday or so. Still, sorry for taking so long to inform you.
I would have some interest in everything... and the Shadowhunter Bat, the Gnaw Demon, and the Chain Golem come to mind;)
I've added them to the list of stuff to write up. : )

![]() |

Most cool, Gene.
I've got to tell you... my stock in these 4-whatever minis just went up! I layed out your stat blocks next to the minis on my gaming table and imagined (just for a brief moment) that 4e never existed.
*laughs*
And the funny part is... if you look around my game room, 4e really doesn't exist. So when I opened my eyes, and smiled because the minis were now truly 3.5 minis, I kept thinkin' man, that Gene guy is very cool to convert this stuff for me!
Thank you again.

I can assure you it's no problem man; I'm really glad that you're finding a use for these conversions. : )
Here is what I've used for the undead orc mini...
*stat block*
Looks great! I've added it to my homebrew monsters collection (one can never have too many zombies). ; )

Anyways, back to the task at hand. Here's a link to the bugbear strangler:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ytxtzmtjyyi
I figure he'll be quite nasty no his own as he has a good hide and move silently bonus and his strangle ability can make the garrote that he wields quite deadly.
Anyways, I'm currently working on the bugbear lancebreaker and once I'm done with him I'll be moving onto the Shadowhunter Bat, Gnaw Demon, and Chain Golem.

What are you guys doing with the Chillborn Zombie? I've seen some "cold" undead in various sources, but not a zombie...and I like the idea. Especially since I got four of them for a good price.
If you don't mind a bit of a wait I could stat it up after I finish Pax's requests. Of course, if Pax would like to tackle it he's more than welcome to do so.

Here's a link to the bugbear lancebreaker:

I figure he'll give mounted foes a good bit of trouble, not to mention his ability to halt his opponents in their footsteps should they draw an attack of opportunity from him.
Up next is the Gnaw Demon followed by the Chillborn Zombie and then the Chain Golem. I'll be throwing an update of my aboleth overseer along with the gnaw demon as well (I just noticed I'd never filled out its skillpoints). Once I finish the chain golem I'll be throwing all the monsters I've statted thus far into a single document for easy reference.

![]() |

*eep*
I am SO sorry for not updating... Holidays have been murdering my poor little free time (as well as preparing for a game on Wednesday).
Anyways, I've gotten the gnaw demon written up, here's a link:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ujlditznomk
Should prove an interesting fight for lower level characters I think.
Up next is the bat followed by the zombie then the golem. I probably won't have anything up tomorrow as I've got my bi-weekly D&D game to attend to.

![]() |

The Crawler is added to the list. Thus far it's looking like the following:
The Bat
The Zombie
The Crawler
The Golem
I'm doing the golem last 'cause I don't own the mini (and as such don't have a card to work off of) and it's not in the monster manual. I'll be trying to find a stat card for it pretty soon, however.
I should get the ball rolling on statting these babies up sometime tomorrow if all goes well.

Hey M - very funny.
.... so I went back to the store to pick up a handful of chillborn zombies - one can never have enough zombies (only have 16 as of now, various kinds)... anyhow, the guy says, "Crap. We couldn't get rid of those forever, and now there's a run on them!"
Since he's a 4e lover, I didn't have the heart to tell him about what Gene is hooking us up with;)
.... I'm out of luck on the Chillborn for right now, but I'll keep an eye out for 'em.

![]() |

Okay, here we go!
Here's a link to the bat:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mizfq4mjlmi
And here's the link to the zombie:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?omouyialqot
I enjoyed writing both of them up greatly! I'm fond of the bat already (though that's 'cause I gave it ties to the drow and I like the drow :p ) and I really had fun putting the zombie together as well.
Alrighty!
So my current goals for the weekend are the carrion crawler and the chain golem. Away I go.

Mairkurion {tm} |

Hey M - very funny.
I just realized that when you squint and stick out your tongue online, you create a sacred monogram. Kinda weird.
Pax, I can't believe you let that opportunity go! You must be getting ready for Xmas! Gene, getting to look over the latest goodies now. Good move with the shadow bat, IMO.

Hey Gene, I had a great play test with your stats for the Gnaw Demon. My friend and I pit 6 Gnaw Demons against a small party involving a 10th Level Knight, a 8th level Druid with a wolf animal companion, and a 7th level cleric. The demons cornered them in the entryway of the cavern. They used teleport once blood had been drawn. Combat ran 5 1/2 rounds and I noticed the initiative modifier should be +4, not +2 because of improved initiative. Overall, I once again must say you did a marvelous job with the stats. Functionally, the demons are a very good annoyance, and I would likely try to use them in conjunction with a big-bad-evil-boss-guy because on their own, they're an annoyance (especially with the bleed damage per round) but wouldn't accrue enough actual damage with their bite to really slay a party. They are a great minion/annoyance monster!
We had a lot of fun thanks to you, Gene. Keep up the great work.
We're thinking that a 1d6 damage dice would be better as in 1d6+6.
Also, you did a great job applying a feat (ankle biter) based on the hit dice level.
Hope you're having a fantastic weekend (you too M). Good luck on the Chain Golem.

Mairkurion {tm} |

I got one, and I was thinking I might use it as a medium earth elemental.
But it's actually old.
Did it use to be a large creature?

![]() |

Good question, M. Thanks for finding the reference to the GD in the old MMII - I thought these sounded familiar.
The size was listed as L (8' - 12 ' tall)
I'm looking at it on p68. (MMII 1983)
At that time, Gary wrote:
"The galeb-duhr is a curious bolulder-like creature with appendages that act as hands and feet. These intelligent beings are very large and slow moving. They live in rocky or mountainous areas where they can feel the "earth power" and control the rocks around them. Galeb duhr can cast the following spells as 20th-level magic-users, once per round: move earth, stone shape, passwall, transmute rock to mud, and wall of stone.
They animate 1-2 boulders within 6" of them (AC0; MV3"; HD 9; DM 4d6) as a treant controls trees. Galeb duhrs take double damage from cold-based attacks and save at -4 against them. They are not harmed by lightning or normal fire, but take full damage from magical fire, saving at +4 against fire attacks."
Do you know who wrote the stats you linked to for the Galeb Duhr? (Just wondering whether I should look them over, or if you trust the source?)
Thanks again.

![]() |

@Pax: Glad to see you're getting some use out of them. Thanks for letting me know about the borked initiative modifier, they'd initially had a 7 DEX which was what dropped their initiative down to +2 but I changed their DEX score and apparently forgot about their initiative. As for the bite damage, I notice now (looking at the stat block) that I forgot to allocate their third hit die feat, if you want to crank the damage up to a d6 simply give them Improved Natural Attack (Bite) and that'll do it (I've actually done that on the fixed sheet).
They honestly weren't supposed to be anything more than annoyance monsters as is, as a rule small sized monsters aren't too nasty unless they've got some wicked special abilities to back them up. Which, alas, the gnaw demon does not. Still, glad to see they were an interesting fight for your players. :)
Also, here's a link to the fixed Gnaw Demon (Now with improved bite action!):
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xmnwym31goh
EDIT: If all goes well I should have either the crawler or the golem up sometime later tonight/this coming morning.

I think it is the monster conversion project over on ENWorld. Let me look into it some more.
One obvious issue: the new mini is medium sized, so the creature would need to be paired down to size in the mechanics as well. I think we should reinstate some of Gygax's flavor in the description text--much better than the text I found. Also, if we wanted to toughen them up a little, the cold-based attacks could do normal damage, but slow them.Edit: I guess Scott Greene did the conversion? Does not seem to have made it into any of the Tomes of Horror, however.

![]() |

One obvious issue: the new mini is medium sized, so the creature would need to be paired down to size in the mechanics as well.
One of the many things that I dislike about 4E is that they've paired down the maximum creature size to huge. Because of this, some monsters that should be quite large (like the bulette and tthunderblast Cyclone) are smaller and monsters like the poor galeb duhr got the rough end of the stick and became medium.
It bugs me. :p

Okay, got the carrion crawler written up, here's a link:

Moving onto the golem and then a break.

And here's the beauty that is the chain golem:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zywmzt4qzuy
I really enjoyed writing him up, a lot of very nifty abilities to be sure. I'm sure his true seeing ability will screw with the heads of those used to golems following illusions instead of the players and whatnot.
