Male Tiefling Cleric 11

Where are people at for surges?

I know that Reason can't help TRK, but I have another Healing Word.

Human

By my reckoning, TRK is worst off. Arianywn is close to bloodied and everyone else should be close to full. Kia and Whiteclaw have been hit. I'm sure they can confirm.

Grand Lodge

Unfortunately, Reason cannot help TRK, as Healing Word uses one of the target's surges, and TRK has none left.

I just want to make sure that Reason's last heal doesn't get spent on someone who cannot use it.

Because that would stink.

:)

Human

Agreed. I'd hang on to it. It's likely to be needed. As far as I know, only TRK is surge free.

EDIT: Assuming everyone is up to date in their profiles, this is the picture:-

Arianwyn 1 surge left, 24 hp
Kia 5 surges left, 41 hp
Vel 3 surges left, 34 hp
Whiteclaw 3 surges left, 48 hp
Reason 2 surges left, 32 hp
TRK 0 surges left, 24 hp (might be 18)
Gobi 8 surges left, 47 hp (a thrifty dwarf we have here!)

Human

With that majestic defeat under your belts, now seems like a good moment to ask if you'd like to go on further adventures. You're a magnificent and rewarding group to run a game for, so I'm hoping you will want to.

You're not quite done here, but you're closing in on the ending. Give it a bit of thought and if you would enjoy more exploits, let me know.

Human

Also posted on the game thread.

Ah yes. I knew there was something I'd forgotten in the excitement. XP. You gain 353 each, bringing you to 5641 total. You are now level 5.[/ooc]

Please select your new powers and update your stats. Powers DO NOT come into effect until you've had an extended rest. Adjustments to stats (including HP and healing surges) start immediately. Try and live long enough to enjoy your new status.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Ah sweet, sweet Level 5. I am definitely up for more adventures. Arianwyn is my favourite PC of any I've played in any games system. I'm having a ball with the storyline too.

Dark Archive

Look at that. Level 5.

TRK needs a lot of rest. Rev don't send the killer zombies after us.

I'm definately game for more - both adventures have been fun. The last fight with Kyleth was amazing. I kinda hope she did escape, so we can have a rematch :)

That said, I'm still in the same boat that I was in after adventure one. As much as I love Whiteclaw, fighter still feels blah compared, to, well, every other class in the game. While many powers are neat, I've had 'wow, that's cool' moments reading class lists of powers for every class except fighter. I even chose her level 5 power because it was reliable - it's not bad by any means, (in fact I think it's very good), but none of them made me say 'cool', so I took one of the 2 I keep if I flub the roll, and I hate making mechanical decisions like that.

So, I'm torn between keeping Whiteclaw, or retiring her and playing on as a Warder (to keep in the guardian role, which I am enjoying very much), or a druid.

Any thoughts and advice are very welcome!

Human

Warden sounds like a very Whiteclaw change of focus, particularly with her background in the druid enclave. I'd be quite happy for you to either rebuild her with Warden powers or retrain substantially.

Similarly, I know Fabes has been toying with making Arianwyn a dark pact warlock as being more his style. I'm perfectly happy for all of you to mould your characters into whatever you'll have most fun playing as long as you don't break the game mechanics. Ideally it would be nice if you can make some sense of those changes in terms of character as well, but for both Whiteclaw and Arianwyn I don't see any real problems if you wanted to do that.

Kyleth worked well for me. She was huge fun to run - although I think with hindsight I should have made her a little tougher.

For Rev

Spoiler:
Considering that TRK has regained part of his memory and there are 2 paladins in the group, I was thinking if I can change characters and play a swordmage, a fighter (battlerager) or a deva invoker.

Human

Radavel

Spoiler:

Fine by me. Deva might be a good choice. If you want to keep running TRK, part of the memory coming back could well be some of his past lives. Just a thought.

Female Human Wizard 11 / Master of Flame

You know I'll keep playing Vel -- this is the one game I haven't stalled this month!

Though I'd like the option to do major rebuild between adventures thanks to shiny new book.

Human

Be my guest on the rebuild. You're all most welcome to do that, particularly with new material coming out all the time.

If any of you have access to the character builder, I'd be grateful if you could let me have copies of your sheets.

Send them to me at

For Rev

Spoiler:
TRK, the human paladin, can be transformed into a deva invoker, through the process of awakened memories. Mental transformation equals physical transformation. A final strike from the Bad Guy forces TRK's latent angelic nature to reassert itself and revert to the "true" form of a deva.

Spoiler:

OK. That process could well have been started by Kyleth's engraving on your forehead. Let's roll with it and see what happens.

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Kia is carrying on most definitely. After all there are more wrongs to right and that is what she does isn't it? I might have a look at possible new lower level powers though.

Anyway, if she wasn't there to look after him, Arianwyn would get into so much trouble. Honestly, sometimes she really doesn't know why she bothers.

I'm really enjoying playing a warlord, much to my surprise (I thought it would be boring) but it is quite a challenge.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Retraining Sloth Strike to Corrosive Ruin (rubbish to hit but it's an area attack :D )

Taking Forceful Assault as Level 5 Daily.

Keeping him as feypact... why change a winning formula? :D

Assuming we make it out of fire ville ok, I'll likely join Vel in the rebuild option and turn Whiteclaw into a more thematic, for her, Warden.

Grand Lodge

I am thoroughly enjoying the game, DM and co-players.

I would be happy to continue with the book-crazy tiefling.

However, it is likely that my posting will be more erratic during the warm months, especially on the weekends and during convention times. I would not be offended if you wanted to bring in some new blood who could make a firmer commitment.

But if you are willing to take me unless/until it becomes an issue, I'm in.

I'd be more than willing, I'd be delighted.

Everyone is going to have patchy times - it goes with pbp territory, so don't worry about it.

Human

If Gobi is in, then it looks like the full crew are going on. Wonderful news. Thank you for the vote of confidence and I'll do my best to find something suitably awful for you all.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I believe you mentioned something urban to me a while ago. That would be great as an opportunity to use Diplomacy and Bluff.

Grand Lodge

How about "The Happy Friendly Bunny Librarians"?

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Nah, "Demon Whores of the Chaos Cabal in the Wicked City of Sha'rez'bagar" is more Arianwyn's style.

:D I kid!

Oh, Vel will still be a (mostly-elemental) blaster wizard, just might have a couple different tricks from the new book (like a familiar!).

Grand Lodge

oooOOOoooo!!! Consecrated Ground!

Do you two have a hotwire into my brain by any chance? Both libraries and demonic whores may well feature in your upcoming jaunt.

Assuming you get through your current adventure of course, which isn't at all a given.

One more thing. I urgently need wish lists from all of you. Magic items and such that you'd appreciate up to level 8 please.

Please note that if any of you have magic items you're attached to, I'm happy to upgrade them in lieu of handing out new stuff, but you need to let me know.

Mr. Thovir has asked that I relay his wishlist:

1. Meliorating Scale Armor +2
2. Defensive Craghammer +2
3. Throwing Heavy Shield
4. Some new alchemical formulas for his book
5. A new trailer with a 50' Plasma screen and LOST Dvds on-site.

I was briefly considering the idea of taking him down the avenger road but then I realized Gobi is too destined to be a happy, nice dwarf.

Human

I'd love to meet Gobi's dad. He must be so proud of his boy. Out there doing good with a smile on his face and a bandaid in his pocket.

Mr Thovir's wishlist is duly noted, however I would be grateful if you could point out to him that the trailer and DVDs will not be forthcoming. Such things are epic level rewards and he will just have to wait.

Female Human Wizard 11 / Master of Flame

Arcane Power has a distinct lack of magic items (unless Vel switches to a Tome wizard in the re-build), but new rituals are always good.

As far as current stuff . . .

Spoiler:

Let me look at +2 orbs:
Orb of Inescapable Consequences (AV) looks mighty fun. Of course, so is Far Seeing.

+2 leather armor:
Repulsion (AV) or Stanching (Dragon)

+2 Neck items:
Resilience Amulet (AV)
Periapt of Recovery (AV)
Brooch of Shielding (AV)
Fireflower Pendant (AV)
Current Amulet of Mental Resolve (PH)

Head:
Cynic's Goggles (AV)
Helm of Vigilant Awareness (AV)

Arms:
Bracers of Mental Might (AV)
Bracers of Escape (Dragon)
Storm Shield (AV)

Waist:
Barbed Baldric (AV)
Belt of Vim (AV)

Wondrous:
Power Jewel (AV)
Polyglot Gem (AV)
Cinnabar Solitaire (AV)
Lens of Reading (AV)
Dust of Arcane Insight (AV)

I'll keep adding until my 60 minutes are up!

Human

There already is a barbed baldric in the group's possession. You picked it up in the tomb.

"A Barbed Baldric. (level 5 magic item, waist slot). Hooked metal barbs spring from he belt on command, making it dangerous for anyone to grab you. Enemies who grab you take 1d8 damage at the start of your turn." - see page 11 of the game thread for details of your other loot.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Magic items:

Level up pactsword to +2

Elven Battle Armour +2 (leather) seems nice

Parry Gauntlets

Surefoot Boots

Belt of Recovery

Ruby Scabbard

That should be enough to be going on with!

All very odd, I know!

Oh, right. Is anyone using it?

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I thought it was Whiteclaw. I could be wrong.

Human

Kia took it as there was complete absence of interest in the object when it was discovered.

Right. Looking back, we agreed a front-line person should wear it, which is why I promptly forgot about it.

It still would be handy for Vel, but it's not a high-priority item.

Human

Very well. A plan is forming. Libraries will be involved. The demonic whores haven't made it in yet, but give me time.

Grand Lodge

What is the best way to send a character sheet from the chargen program? Is there a way to export the sheet for attachment?

If you're sending it to somebody else with the software, the easiest way is to send the .dnd4e file.

If not, and you don't have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, there are a number of free programs for printing to .pdf files.

Grand Lodge

Thanks, Pat!

I know, I need to do my wishlist still. Waiting, kinda, until I figure out what to do with Whiteclaw :) Been playing with the character generator, and debating between full Warden or Multi-ing with Avenger or Druid, though I do have a good sense of what her Warden powers would be.

Also trying to figure out how to work the shift of classes into continuity in a way that it would make sense.

So, eventually, I'll get a wishlist up :)

No rush. How you shift classes as a character is up to you entirely - I'm certain you'll come up with something that makes sense. Warden sounds very Whiteclaw like anyway, Avenger makes sense in light of what she's just said about the whole group being fanatics and Druid is a tribute to Hroaldr and her upbringing. Or that's how it seems to me.

Human

One more thing. The ritual casters and alchemists among you need more recipes. Gobi should have up to level 4 but needs to take a new one for level 5. Vel and Reason need another two each. Pick something up to your level.

It's down to Warden, or warden mixing druid. I've played with avenger mix, but power wise it just doesn't work. I'd be burning feats to do the mix (which would be flavor cool), but I'd lose effectiveness.

The druid mix, though, I could play with nicely. If I do that, I'm stacking cold powers, to play into her affinity with the white dragon, and the idea of Whiteclaw shifting into a massive hyena is just cool! The downside to that is there is a gap from level 6 to 11 where neither class gets a single cold power, so the concept slips a little.

In either event, I'll have something in the next day or so, cause if I don't make myself decide, I'll be debating for days, so I need to just do it!

Ok, sending the next adventure version your way Rev. She's pretty gearless, just basic first level stuff, will adjust that down the road.

On a side note, WotC's powered up PC gnolls. Ferocious Charge has been given a buff, where if the gnoll is bloodied, the bonus damage it does is doubled and that many temp hp are gained. In addition, we now get Pack Attack, which gives me +2 damage to any foe I hit that has 2 or more of my allies adjacent to it. My eyes boggled when I looked at the sheet and saw that!

Once we're done with this adventure, and you approve, I'll change the profile :)

Human

Pack attack at last! Whiteclaw finally gets her dream come true. Now if they'd just hand out a secondary bite attack, you'd really be rumbling.

Mind you, I find her utterly terrifying already. I'm so glad I'm not my monsters sometimes.

Grand Lodge

I had a wish list for Reason all typed out, then accidently hit the 'back' button...

Stuff that I remember:

Rituals, Rituals, Rituals

Exalted Scale armour

Upgrade on Holy Symbol (even a combination of the 2 he already has)
or if Santa is really good to him, an Eye of Ioun

Belt of Sacrifice

Some sort of magic container for his reading material (satchel of holding?)

Just pipe dreams, really.

Human

I'm pretty sure the Symbol of Life enchantment can be transferred over to the +2 symbol, but I'll check.

Rituals - yes, I have some in mind for Reason, Vel and Gobi.

A little music I like to share with you.
