Bards with Rage Points

Classes: Bard, Monk, and Rogue

During the alpha testing, when the barbarian was revealed, I was really excited by the prospect of what the bard would look like. Surely if Pathfinder could turn the barbarian into a points-based class with lots of flexibility, then the bard could be the most versatile class in the game. Then the bard was revealed and it wasn’t much different than the PH bard. More options, but still similar mechanically. Now that the rage point system has been removed from the barbarian class, what if it was adapted to the bard?

Music points, song points, poetry points, something along those lines that conveys the idea of the magic of music. Depending on how people pick their music powers, the bard could be a jack of all trades, or have leanings towards healer, fighter, skillmoney, caster, etc. The rest of the class features would continue to focus on flexibility, but the powers could make bards built to handle certain tasks better. That way if the party doesn’t have a rogue, the bard can choose powers to better fill that gap. No cleric? The bard can go from a secondary healer to a primary healer, or a buffer.

A power points system for bards emphasises flexibility of both play and build.

Cool idea, it would have been neat.
Too bad, eh?
