So first level character 32 point 3.5 point buy, no beta hp bonuses at first level, and every other level I only get half my hp? I then take feats from the MM3 or the Beta.
Okay if your take another level in monk you would gain 4+1+con mod
Since monk isn't the gnome racial fav class you don't get an extra point of hp.I wolud also like to say that monks/paladins may multiclass freely as long as the levels of the other class(or classes) does not exceed your monk/paladin levels.

Actually, I think in the beta, monks and paladins can multiclass freely with any other class, so long as their alignment remains L/LG and they follow their codes. At least, I noticed that the statements that were in the 3.5 PHB regarding no longer progressing as a monk or paladin if you multiclass are not in the beta ...

Is that a your houserule? that I have to keep my monk levels Higher? I wasn't planning on multiclassing.
Okay I got my character Gavrin Bighit Norbera
Str 15
Dex 14
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 14
Cha 11
Feats: Caught off Guard, Really Throw Anything (I'm going for a Jackie Chanish character, you know the kind who takes a ladder and turns it into a weapon, or a pot tied to a rope etc.)
When he was younger he was out for a night on the town with his bride to be, a group of drunken humans began harrasing them, they tried to ignore it, but eventually one of the humans said something aweful that led to a fight where the group brutally beat both him and his fiance. His fiance was killed and he was so badly injured that it was believed he would never be able to walk again.
A passing healer however took him under his care and through chiropracty and physical training enabled Gavrin to once again walk. That healer was a monk and trained Gavrin from there on to be able to use leverage where strength fails. and to use surprise where intimidation will not succeed.
Gavrin looks to all appearances like a gnome spelunker, this image is enhanced by his trade, he seeks exotic stone to carve miniatures to sell. This common laborer however is a guise to make those who would prey on the small and weak target him. Whereupon he turn on them with every item at his disposal as a weapon to devastating effect.
Just so you know Gavrin does not carry a single weapon, however he does have a miner's pick, ten pitons, a shovel, a 10 ft pole, an iron pot, torches, and a chain all of which at any time he will turn into a weapon at need.

Jason B has specifically stated that anyone can multiclass in any direction that they like. Alignment issues are still there but you can multiclass has desired.
I would like to say that this wasn't clear to me so I went with what I thought it meant. Thank you both for clarifying. So no your levels don't have to be lower than your monk/paladin class.

I really like the concept on this one . Interesting fear...
Thanks I wanted to go with something unique and different for a monk character. Eventually between Razor Sharp chair leg and Imp Natural Attack I'll be walloping enemies as a medium size character and always doing it with things they don't expect. He also has a particular hatred for unruly drunks, racists (at least racism of the "core" races D&D racism being what it is :) ), and mobs (the group that attacked him and killed his fiance being a combination of the three) if he sees one will try to goad them into attacking him. The fear was also an approach at trying something a bit unusual, something internal instead of external. I left my character sheet at work (i'll be posting on breaks and when things are slow) so I can't post on the weekends, but I will be posting daily when we get started.
I'll need a lot of rulings from you on whether or not I'll be taking non-proficiency penalties with some of my weapons. Most count as simple, but the chain and the pick are closest imitation of a flail with reach, and a heavy pick, neither of which the monk is proficient with. I don't take imp. weapon penalties for wielding them but it's up to you if I take non-proficient penalties.
Also as I've said before this is my first play by post so I have no idea what I'm doing when we start. I know of the ooc tags for speaking out of character, but that's about it.

Only one problem, and I don't really mind, but thought it should be mentioned: Caught off guard requires BAB +4.
Edit: Then I see that a monk doesn't need to meet prerequisites for bonus feats, so never mind from me!
BTW welcome to the game LKL, nice to see you here.
Thanx mr. I'm gonna ruin his concept with rules lawyering ;)
Yeah I wasn't sure what to do, I wasn't sure what I was going for in the monk and then I thought up that concept when I saw that I could take caught off guard at 1st level. So I used my normal feat for really throw anything, used my bonus feat for caught off guard, and there you go. :D.
At 6th level I'll make real use of it by taking improved disarm, that way I can disarm foes and wail on them while they are flat footed. That is, if we get to sixth level, if this is a one shot it seems unlikely.

Beta gives you feats at 1,3,5,7,9, and so on, plus any bonus feats.

I'm aware of that, but I don't have the int to take combat expertise so I have to wait till I get to level six and can take improved disarm as a bonus feat.

Oh heck, I didn't mean to rules lawyer you, with a decent background like that I'm more than willing to go with handwavium if need be to let you have it, it's neat, makes sense, and fits.
I just wanted to make sure we knew it was that if it comes down to it, which it doesn't.
Fortunately it's not an issue anyways becuase you can have it just like you said with your bonus feat. :D
