Firearms?

Pathfinder Society

Sovereign Court 4/5

Right, this thing is siding a bit with the Campaign Setting, Pathfinder Society, and other things.

a) As I've understood, all equipment from the Campaign Setting can be used in Pathfinder Society. So I presume this includes firearms, and the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearms) feat. Am I correct?

b) Reading from the Alkenstar entry it says masterwork weapons are not produced in masses, but they exist. I believe there's no special restriction?

c) A scattergun has a capacity of 2, yet the reloading part says "1 move action per shot". Does this mean you have to use a move action between every attack or after all the bullets have been shot? The latter would make more sense.

d) With all these things in mind, I thought of making a back-up character designed to be an Alkenstar patriot, who traveled to Absalom with his father (a skillful gunsmith), and waves the flag of Taldor as they can respect arts better than others (teehee). After gathering enough gold he'd buy/get a masterwork scattergun from his father. So ... possible?

Right now, only the equipment in chapter 5 is allowed. None of the feats, spells, etc are open for Pathfinder Society play.

Note that I said right now. :-)

ok so we can use firearms when we get the gold for them because they are in ch.5 page 212 and being they are and exotic weapon we can take the feat because exotic weapon proficiency with them because the feat is out of the phb but how much dose ammo cost.

The bullets are also mentioned near the firearms section (albeit rather hidden). 10 bullets cost 1 gp. How much they weight, I don't know. I'd make a regular 1 lb per 10 bullets, easier that way.

I feel the need to bring this one issue up once more. I digged up a quote from Josh about firearms, one that clarifies the issue once and for all.

We've also decided there won't be firearms in Pathfinder Society. There might be one down the road as a find in a scenario, but they will not be available for purchase from the equipment list.

That's one character concept down the drain. Oh well. :P

Liberty's Edge

I thought the weapon exotic proficiency was in the PHB :P. Unless all those other books with exotic weapons and no Exotic weapon proficiency in them :P.

The Exchange

you wouldnt be able to get a masterwork anything to start with because to bump something up to masterwork is 300G for weapons and 150G for armor.
( page 122 PHB ) I was told that a character starts with 150G for gear

Hah, yes, I can see how my two statements are at odds. We won't be allowing firearms.

All in good time, my dear friend. Fortunately I didn't get to erroneously get to play a firearm wielding british gentleman from Alkenstar.

What do you mean FORTUNATELY? If Pathfinder Society needs more of something it's definitely characters based on not so thinly veiled real-world stereotypes!

This from the guy who pretty much plays his Qadiran gnome illusionist as Borat...
