Feats: Negotiator feat gone?

General Discussion (Prerelease)

Sovereign Court

Is there a reason why the Negotiator feat (+2 Diplomacy and Sense Motive) isn't in Beta? Other +2/+2 feats made it, and this isn't a game breaking combo IMO. What gives?

It insulted Jason's mother*. So he wiped it out.

*Either with "your momma drags tractors on sports channel" or "your momma's a fun fair boxer named Butch"

Because of other skill and feat changes, bonuses to those two skills now fall under two different feats:

Alertness gives you a +2 bonus to Perception and Sense Motive, and
Persuasive gives you a +2 bonus to Diplomacy and Intimidate.

That's it.

You know, I wished they just got rid of Alertness, Persuasive, Dilligent, and all the other +2/+2 feats, and just introduce a Skilled Feat that would grant you +2 (later +4) to two skills of your choice. Can be taken more than once, but always for different skills (no +2 sense motive/survival and then +2 survival/perception). Lots of space opened up for cool new stuff!

Good idea, I'm going to copy it to the Feat thread.

Sorry, but while I see the merits of what you describe, this would simply turn into a "Add two to the two skills you actually use" feat. One of the characteristics of these feats is usually one of the skills is rather commonly used, the other a bit less often. The exceptions seem to be the skills that ended up being merged anyways (Stealthy, Nimble Fingers).

Would obliterate the usefulness of Skill Focus.
