A question for you folks

General Discussion (Prerelease)

As much as I hate the phrase "Build" when describing a Character, I was wondering, what is your favorite "Build" for a Fighter?
Mind you I don't mean what are the most powerful combos but rather what is the most fun to play in your opinion?
Also what type of fighters do you prefer, Farm boy doing his family proud, a questing Knight, maybe a career military man gone mercenary?

I like ex-military. It covers knights, heavy infantry, light infantry, and archers. I study 14th century England, so I find there is a lot of great inspiration and details for everything from entusiastic idealist to bitter campaigner.

As for feats... I don't think Pathfinder has the stuff yet. For my next fighter, I think 16 of my 21 feats will be from 3.5 books...

The changes to power attack (which I usally use in 2, 5, and at high level, 10), combat expertise, and cleave have really sucked the fun IMO.

(This thing about players spending too much time calculating power attack doesn't fly for me. That is a player issue not a game issue. DM's who are having a problem can use a minute timer for offending players. Don't penalize those of us who play quickly. And if they want an offensive equivalent to fighting defensively, then create "Swing Wildly" for -4 to hit and +2 damage and have done with the whinging that everyone takes power attack.)
