ok, so here's my idea:

i'm thinking a party of adventurers. they just finsihed mopping up some lizardman looking dudes, and two guys are atop a statue, trying to pry these HUGE gem eyes out...

i dunno, it just came to me in a dream or something...

I think a homage to the original AD&D PHB cover would be cool. It would also send a message to the potential buyers.

that's actually what i was thinking. now, if we could only convince trampier to come out of retirement...

You mean like this?

dude, that is insanely awesome!

i want one...

Really, my opinion says that there should not be Player Characters, or bt that way, adventurers, on the cover. I don't know, it just strikes me wrong.

I can really say how I like the cover of draconomicon, of the dragon magazine compendium or even the lords of madness, but I really, really don't like the Completes Anything, and I specially don't like the cover of the 4e. Don't know what it is...it just... You actually feel something unconscious. I think that I prefer to remember PF as the "rpg with that symbol on the cover" rather than "the one with the tiefling"...

How about cover art by Larry Elmore (and some interior art by Jeff Easley to go along with it).

Elmore and Easley were my favorite artist back in the 80s-early 90s...sadly starting the 2000s I feel the artistic "quality" went down considerably.... you can see the notable difference between their works today and back then...Most sad indeed... Anyway I still like their work!

You can order it from their website (which you can figure out from the URL of the image link).

Maybe some enterprising graphic designer could come up with tome-style slip-covers to fit over the art-style printed books.

They would look the way you like and be protected from damage.

It could be sold for cheap or even free on RPGNow. Being oversized, it would require a large format printer or it could be done at a commercial printer (anyone but Kinko's, I hate Kinko's), providing its copyright allowed private use printing.

Just please lay off of WAR for once... pretty please? I know he's, like, the official artist of all Paizo products, but I'm really sick of his stuff. REALLY sick of it. Been a Paizo fan for too long, I guess.

I'll second this. Or at least persuade him to depict human feet differently -- he always shows them 4" long, 4" high, and basically triangular. I've never seen a foot that actually looks like that, and it's jarring.

Darn tootin' there was!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new art, but...
Bring the old guys back, or folks who can draw/paint like:

* Errol Otus
* Bill Willingham
* Jeff Dee (old style)
* DSL
* Roslof

I know, I know...a relic of a bygone era...
