A Charatcer for Underling, I hope you like it!

I hope I did a close approach to your vision of Azim. Please post any comments on it.

Holy s*@+! This is almost exactly what i envisioned. You sir, kick huge amounts of arse.

I emailed Azim to my group today & the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The guys have never posted here, but several are considering it just to jump into this thread.

Hugo, I can't thank you enough!

No thanks required, we are all helping each other here!

PS: Glad you liked it. Check the Scraps section, there's a previous skecth of Azim with a major screwup with the bracers-torcs

I have an old character who has a collection of helms made from the heads of dragons the party had defeated... He had helms from black, blue, green and white dragons.... was always looking for a red to complete his collection. He added things like straps and metal faceplate to make himself more ominous for intimidating lizard folk (it was a campaign that the pcs were guerrilla forces fighting against an army of all reptilian adversaries)

Cool! I'll do the Red dragon head-helmet, Ok?

Hugo, are you still doing the female characters? Are you 'all booked up' already for that?

As for items, here is one I designed for a player and would love to see illustrated:

Spoiler:
Walks with the Wolves
This is a finely crafted Chain Shirt, the links in the chest are intricately knotted giving the appearance of a wolf's head which seemingly glares out at you. In addition to the finely crafted wolf on the chest the shoulders bear identical wolf visages. The armor is feather light but obviously quite strong and for anyone who dons the armor it acts as a Mithril Chain +1.

"Walks with Wolves" armor was originally created by the Druids of the Eldeen Reaches to assist their scouts in pursuing and capturing those who choose to intrude on the druid's sacred groves. These special scouts were called "Wolf Trackers" and were the most feared of the druid's allies. Wolf Trackers were notoriously good at tracking and pursuing enemies of the druids. Rumors speak of Wolf Trackers changing into wolf shapes and running with wolves. The most renowned of the Wolf trackers were said to have grown a thick coat of fur on their backs and arms. Even while not in wolf form these elite Wolf Trackers gained a reputation for savage appetites, eating meals of mostly raw meat.

Special Qualities:

* While using the survival skill to track the wearer of this armor gains a +5 scent bonus to all survival rolls.
* While wearing this armor any Charisma based checks including Wild Empathy and Handle Animal checks made to 'prey animals' have a -5 fear penalty, likewise the character receives a +5 insight bonus on Charisma based checks with any canine.
* Rangers casting the longstrider spell or related spells while wearing this armor gain the benefit of the extend spell metamagic feat with no additional spell level charge.
* Characters with 5 or more levels in the ranger class wearing 'Walks with the Wolves' armor gain the ability to shift into any canine shape ('Wolf Shape'). This power is in every way identical to the druid "Wild Shape" ability except the ranger is limited to shifting into canine forms (Animal and Dire only). Treat the character's level in the ranger class as druid levels for the purpose of advancing the 'Wolf Shape' ability. Thus the ranger gains the ability to shift twice per day at 6th level and gains the ability to shift into a dire wolf (or other large canine form) at 8th level. The character never gains the ability to shift into plant or elemental forms.

* A ranger of high enough level can partially transform into a hybrid wolf form. To activate the form the character uses a standard action and sacrifices 2 uses of the 'Wolf Shape' ability. This form acts as the spell 'Bite of the Werewolf' (Spell Compendium p. 29) with a duration of 5 rounds.

Attuning

* A character of 9th level or higher can use a feat to attune himself to the armor. By attuning himself to the armor the character more closely aligns himself with the wolf spirit in the armor.

* After attuning himself and donning the armor the character character grows a coat of thick fur on his arms, legs, chest, and back. The fur gives the character a natural armor class of 2. When the armor is removed the fur slowly recedes over a 4 hour time period.

I left all the attributes in there so you could get some idea of the flavor of the item. The description is in the first paragraph but perhaps the whole item will give you inspiration ;)

I will open the female commissions until monday 29th. There are 4 available and the first four to post their character with the "requirements" listed a few posts back will go in.

As for the item, I'll do it. I'll put it on the list for I have a few more stuff that's be on hold for a while.

Item…

if you are still looking for items...I have an item for you.

The Dwarves of the bitter peak mountains are known not only for their ability to delve beneath the rocks of the high foot hills but also in harvesting the great iron wood trees that grow along it’s craggy sides. Theses trees are “tough as the dwarves that work them” and thus it is said only a good dwarven axe will fell them. Of course this is said by the dwarves themselves for the most part, but none the less has given birth to the legend of the dwarven woodsmen ability to cut a tree in a single stroke with one of their mighty axes. There is no doubt that such an axe would make a fine weapon of war and as such the Dwarves carry the deadly weapons to war as much for the reputation as for the keen edge.

In this tale however the axes spoken of are not known for their edge, quite the contrary. In the fell years of the hobgoblin taking of Gurnst halls a lone dwarf fell from grace at the hands of dark dealings. He would become known as the fallen son. The Doro. Thourngrim the fallen son would not dishonour the memory of his fathers fathers by using his axes. So he did what was required by his lost honour. He blunted the blades. Turned the fine edges of his twin axes to the blunt working ends of savage weapons. No longer a fine cut would these weapons deliver. Now a brutal impact. Shattering bone and metal in equal measure.

Characters change. And in this there is story and game elements. I wanted the character to work with hammers but the back story was all axe so with some evolving story plots and the help of a good DM, The dwarven war axes Thourngrim carried were turned into warhammers.

Here is the description:

Long hafted wooden handles thick and carved in a tribal hatch pattern. Caped at the end with steel bandings, studded with a stout iron ring at the base. At the base of the axe/hammer head a similar capping as to the below. Leading to an ornate tribal design cut deep into the metal. Sharp and angular. As the weapon comes to the axe face it turns more fluid at the top of the axe as it is carved to look like a flowing image of an elder dwarven god working the edge with a wetstone or something similar… his hands fade into the working edge of the axe. In contrast to the fine edge you would normally see here, the blunting has left a pitted and cracked surface. Opposite to the axe head is a stout iron spike aligned more to the top of the axe face as opposed to the center of it. The spike is more Pike like not rounded so much as it is flattened. And it turn downward ever so slightly as would a pick axe.

The entire thing is business with no flash outside of the carving, no gems or gaudy stickings out. It’s dwarven, practical and at the same time useful and artistic. A thing meant to be used for a hundred years and then and only then called reliable.

It’s complicated I know, but the imagery is important to the back story.

My original character concept called for axes but this is the new developed replacement. And I likes it!

My gaming group canceled tonight :(
So I will have a little extra drawing time. I could still get something up by Monday at the latest if there is anyone who doesn't mind having a character drawing in color. If I don't get anything by this evening, I'll just start working on another project and wait to pick up a disappointed straggler or two after Hugo is done taking submissions. ;)

lynora wrote:

Why don't you pick several of the characters "left behind" in the thread? I'm sure anyone would love to have you do their characters! There are several!

Ardentscholar wrote:

I'll do this one as well ArdentScholar. And with this shall be the last item until I'm done with the pending stuff. I may take a few days since I'm a bit worked up so you'll have to be patient!

BTW: Thanks for the kind words.

If you're looking for something to do, I can give you a couple of choices:

- female human Andoran Monk
- Halfling rogue of the savage sneak and kill type (this would be racial concept design since halflings in my game are radically differant then regular ones.)
- male Quadiran Gnome mage specializing in earth magic.
- Male Cheliaxan elven fighter specializing in greatswords.

Take your pick if you want. I'll describe further if/when you pick one. too lazy to do them all now.

And that goes for anyone else looking to draw something.

The halfling sounds interesting, and so does the Chelaxian fighter. Get me the details on one of those and I will get started on it tonight.

Thanks. I tried going back through the thread, but I kept getting lost as to who took what and which ones were left. I should probably have made a chart so I could keep track, but hindsight and all that... And now I don't have to worry about it for a bit. :)

Ah, I must have missed that. Wisdom is definitely my dump stat, so my Perception is none too good.;)I'll take 20 next time.

Scarab Sages

Here they are. If you need more information about any of them, then just ask.

The Halflings:

Spoiler:
In my setting, Halflings are brutal and savage tree/forest dwellers descended from fey. They are distantly related to gnomes (in that they were originally fey), but while gnomes became civilized, Halflings retreated to the safety of the forest. The (average) Halfling is approximately 3’6”, with females being 6” taller. It is a matriarchical society. They are quite intelligent, however, and are perfectly suited to hunting and trapping in the woods. They fashion clothes out of pelts, vegetation and sinew, though with their naturally thick skin, they usually wear very little. They are cannibals and have been known to kill and eat (not necessarily in that order) anybody that enters their hunting range without paying proper homage first. Their level in society is determined by a set of armbands formed of animal sinew and small beads. Any community that has been around a town long enough will usually collect a small amount of tools and clothes for the sake of going into town and eavesdropping the latest information. More then once a group of Halflings have stopped a lord’s plans to demolish their forest. Their favored class, depending on role in society, is ranger (the hunters), rogue (those chosen to scout on the humans) and druid (the female society leaders). They are experts at using small arrows and sharpened sticks to deliver paralytic poinsons to targets, and usually have small amounts of jewelry and weapons made of rock, wood and flint.

For an Idea of what I’m picturing in my head, thing of Stitch from lilo and stitch, only with 2 arms, not 4 and slightly taller. Normally brown skin (not blue), and the fur on the top of the head going down the back is longer then the rest. The Halflings from Dark Sun also work here I guess, only more fey-like and vicious.

The Halfling Rogue:

Spoiler:
This particular rogue has been separated from the forest for a long time and though he has tried to maintain his sneaking skills as much as he can, he can tell that unless he returns to the forest soon, he may become…civilized. He is extremely polite when he does talk, though his accent is odd and certain words outdated. He wears a small set of clothes similar to a kilt and tunic with sandals, but this is only when in the city surrounded with people. Otherwise he prefers to go without clothing, scouting through the trees ahead of his companions, whom he has gained respect for by rite of saving his life many times.

If I got the symbol of celiax wrong here, just correct the number of points. Also, AFAIK, the arrowheads are the symbol of Cheliax? Or was it Asmodeus? either one works. if it's cheliax then he's a fighter of cheliax. if it's asmodeus, then he's a budding servent of Asmodeus. wtv.

The Fighter:

Spoiler:
The warrior (Nathanial Cavarly) is a fighter in the service of the King. In my game elves are just as urban as humans, and in fact they are the more warlike and ostentatious of the two, whereas the humans are more about spying and sneaking. As such, Nathan’s armor is up-to-date and modern, and well taken care of. He wears gauntlets and greaves made of a golden steel over a normal chain shirt, approximately the length of a tunic (or midthigh, whichever is longer) with a leather belt cinching the waist. His only odd item is the black top hat with a brown band he wears on his head since he was ordered by his king to leave and explore the new world, which seems at once sinister and foolish. Yet, it never seems to get dirty, and in fact sometimes seems like it has a mind of its own. His great sword is a thing of beauty, shining silvery to contrast with the black and blue hilt, cross guard and engraved markings. Four large arrowhead shapes were punched out, to make it lighter according to him. His allegiance to Cheliax is subtle and unexplained, yet he is proud of it, so the 4 arrowheads end up decorating much of his equipment. He also happens to hate humans with a passion exceeding most hatred. This makes it hard when he’s stuck adventuring with a human. In fact, his sword happens to be human-bane (it’s not magical yet. It’s a house rule at my table that enough back-story can justify a weapon having ability and not be +1 first). No one really knows why this is, but it’s common knowledge that there are cults developing in the elfish lands devoted to raising children in the way of hating humans (and vice versa).

Ok Hugo,

Spoiler:
Teela
Human Rogue (low level currently)
STR 8
CON 14
DEX 18
INT 14
WIS 10
CHA 10

Teela is a freed slave from Qadira. She was a member of a nomadic desert tribe and was captured in a raid from a competing tribe. While a slave Teela was trained as a contortionist and performed for her master and private audiences. Teela convinced her master that she could serve him better as a thief, stealing trade secrets for her master, and pocketing a small amount of gold for herself. After a particularly profitable heist her master freed her in gratitude.

Teela left Qadira and now though she is still a free agent she is still loyal to her former owner and sends bits of information back to him on a regular basis.

In our world Teela would appear to be of middle eastern descent, her hair is dark and thick, and her complexion dark, her eyes are a deep green which is unusual for her people. A large scar marks one of Teela's cheeks. She is exceptionally thin (85 lbs) and at 5'1" she is often confused for a child. Teela is physically weak but extremely flexible and coordinated. Her attire is typically muted silks, mostly brown and green which blend in well in the dark. Her preferred weapon is the rapier, and she keeps several small daggers about her body for easy access for throwing.

To be fair Denis, you have to post this (again) on monday (as early as possible I suggest). Otherwise, I can't write it down.

There are a few people "waiting in line" for it, So I told everybody to post the character on Monday 29th and the first four would go in. Most of them already post their PC but they'll have to post it again on Monday. A bit complicated... but I believe its a fair way to assign new commissios. Otherwise I would simply have to do every character that gets posted here!.

Hope to see you early on monday! ;)

Hugo, we all love you and your work madly, but you might want to be careful here. You're in Central time, aren't you? I mean to get up at an unholy hour on a Monday to post since the effort will be worth the reward, but if you decide to play that way, there WILL be consequences.

(I'll be broken up inside. There may even be tears.)

Don't do anything that may result in a mob with torches and pitchforks . . .

Oh, wait, we're Paizonians, we have Craft Magic Arms and Armor and sorcerers.

You get the idea. Just stick with Eastern Standard Time, that way it'll be Monday soonest for those of us stateside.

C'mon, you know you want to! I'll be your best friend! Are you open to bribes?

Lathiira wrote:

So, that would be two hours less than my timezone right? If here's 7:42 there is 5:42?

(hate timezones...never been able to memorize those... we don't use those here, big "tall" country, not too wide...)

Lilith and Lynora do color portraits. Hugo, Jack, and myself do mostly black and white.

I'm working on the elf first, but the halfling sounds too cool, so I'd love to draw that next.
About the elf, when you talk about arrows, is this the five-pointed star of Asmodeus or something else? I got a little confused about that. Also, what color hair?

not in order:

yes, it was the five points of asmodeus. i kind of picture them punched out in a row so as to be inconspicuous on the sword.

i'm gonna go with a dirty blonde color. like if you've ever seen that hair that's like blonde but with a tinge of reddish brown? and the skin is a bit paler then "flesh tone" but not white.

And yes. the halflings have pointed teeth. being carnivores, that would be more usefull.
