I'm playtesting Pathfinder Alpha against CoCT as written with my group and the larger necessary XP total to level up has kept them from reaching 3rd level before part six. I noticed that the party is a bit stronger than expected, so I may start converting characters but I was wondering if anyone supplemented the adventure with some extra missions or fights? I can throw the rest of the city encounters at them, but I'm not sure it will be enough.

Give the player's characters some love. If they're a member of the sable company, have them do some patroling outside the city, fight some pirates. If they're a wizard, they could get a call from an old school buddy doing graduate work back at the Acadamae asking for help with something or other, fight a few mages duels.
The random encounter tables might be worth a look, particularly the shingles ones. One of my players is a Tiefling barbarian who lives in a cobbled-together shack on top of another slightly bigger shack in the Shingles, so he's always having to watch out for chokers and stirges, and stopping imps from stealing his stuff.

We just finished Eel's End (without a fight) and the module suggests that the PCs should be 3rd level before the chase scene. I've got a lot of Dungeon magazines from the last few years (as well as some from the late '90s) and all the APs, all the Pathfinder modules and a couple of the standalone Paizo modules. I also have the Guide to Korvosa, so there may be info in there that I can build on.

I sincerely wish I had access to my Dungeon magazines right now. There was an adventure, a few years ago, published in the Dungeon where the PC's had to travel into the disease ridden sewers of a large city to put an end to a Suagin menace that was threatening the residents. It would probably make more sense to stick it in Seven Days to the Grave (or before that). If I recall correctly the adventure was for about 5th or 6th level heroes. I suppose it doesn't help you're current predicament, but it might be worth a look.

Look ahead to the next two modules and decide what things you want to emphasize. A descent into the sewers to fight wererats, petty crime in Old Korvosa, arthouse intrigue with Salvator Scream (say cat burglar excitement, Scream could just be flavor text), or an early encounter with the Gray Maidens could all be fun.

All good suggestions.
Foreshadowing future events can be a powerful storytelling device, providing your campaign with a greater sense of consistency and realism, and players think Wow when they connect the pieces, especially if they're side-treks you've composed yourself.
Another opportunity is to personalise any side-treks for your player characters - players always love it when they feel personally connected to events occurring in the campaign.
Other than adding more encounters, it is perfectly acceptable to level characters up to keep pace with the adventure path - that's what I've been doing.

Do a quick scan of older posts in this section of the forums, and you'll find an encounter dealing with a fire. I'm pretty sure "FIRE!" is in the title. If you can't track it down, I pasted it into a Word document and can send it to you. Wish I knew to whom credit goes for it....

In fact I wish to use this "Encounter:Fire!" but in my mind in the building there wouldn't be any people, just one creature which would be able to use "ghost sound" to make some "cry" or "callings" in order to make the PC enter into the building. The creature would be int he building and a fight would be started into the building in fire! But I don't know what creature I can use to do this, knowing that my party is composed by 5 PC who are lvl 4 (because they finish "edge of anarchy". can you suggest me any creature I can use?
