Lyssa is at 2hp

Since I am not too up on drawing maps using spreadsheets etc, I will endeavour to give a complete description of the area.

The trail you were traveling on runs NW and cuts through the forest. To the NE of the trail is a clearing of land that has been cultivated. The clearing is surrounded to the N, NE, E and SE by forest. A ruined farmhouse and barn stand in the Eastern edge of the clearing.

The hooded man and his two thugs stand to the N in the tree line. The skeletons that surrounded you stood in front of the farm abot 100' N of the trail. (The clearing is aprox 250' wide) War and Belflin were investigating the N/NE edge of the clearing by the trees when the attack happened. The distance from the farmhouse to the N tree line is about 50'.

Hope this is ok

sorry to be a pain about this, but I can't reconcile this with the map, and am still confused. The trail running NW and the farmhouse in the East of the clearing indicate that the left side of the image is North. But the farmhouse looks to be 5-10' from the N tree line, not 50. I'm also unclear on where we are on the map, as we were moving all around when the attack happened. Thanks.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

OK. I did the description from memory, without the aid of the map.So thats why it was a bit in-acurate The skeletons attacked and were destroyed within the fenced off area of the farm. The bodies of the farmer and his family were here also. The tree line to the right of the farm is where the half orcs and the hooded man were hidden. War and Belflin are attacking the half orcs at the edge of these trees. Everyone else is in the vacinity of the farm, either in the fenced area or just outside it in the ploughed field. The farm is reached by the trail that can be seen in the bottom left corner. This leads back to the main trail to Fairhill. Hope its a bit clearer.

Female Halfling Rogue1

If I assume the map I see is upside down from yours (I have trail in the upper right), I think I'm good.

Lyssa makes a dash for the treeline well to the west of the hooded man, where she plans to try to take him by surprise.

Will roll hide/move silently on next turn

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Ok Lyssa. As you start to move, the rain begins to fall. The sound of angry voices can be heard from the fight between the dwarf, the elf and the half orcs.

Male Half Orc Fighter

I move forward to Lyssa chanting as I go.
trades Remove Fear for Cure Light Wounds

Casts 1d8+1 roll/ 7 + 1 = 8 hp

edit: hopefully I catch her before she dashes off if not I walk calmly to the battle still chanting and will cast on the worst hurt party member regardless of attacks to myself.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Osric catches up to Lyssa. A nimbus of blue energy coaleces in the air around her, full of sparkling motes of silver light.

8hp worth of healing.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Waiting for Alajos.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

OK, we will sidestep Alajos for now and go on to Lloyd and then Lyssa.

(OOC my apologies been ill and in bed past few days.)

Lloyd chants softly and gives the most wounded member of the party
7 hp. Looks around snaps his fingers and your skins feels scrubbed clean.

"Open wounds and fighting undead, very nasty indeed."

Lloyd looks at the mess and speaks softly with a smile "Either our sense of timing is ... suspicious and we just happened to trip across a site of a moments before performed massacre or we are dealing with a mentally ill wizard who wanted us to see his ooh so shocking handywork. The first option implies Destiny and we are all doomed, I think I much prefer the wizard to be one cantrip short of a spellbook and thus merely sad, deluded and predictable. Evil my friends is better dressed and welcoming , this is merely ...wretched...

Unless of course there IS a reason as to why a not very clever amateur, possibly even retarded cack handed necromancer should be hunting us......

M H Sorcerer 1

Since I am at zero, I guess that would be me? Yippee! I leap to my feet and fire a magic missile at the evil gargoyle, the evil wizard, or a half-orc guard, in that order of preferane.

"Thankee suh" I will shout as I gleefully inflict more magnificent carnage.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

The dart of magical energy leaps away heading straight towards the nearest half orc. It zips past War and twists round Belflin before exploding with light in the chest of the nearest half orc fighter.

roll magic missile damage

Male Half Orc Fighter

Charge...........

M H Sorcerer 1

Sorry!

4 hp damage!

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

The half orc hit by the magic missile lets out a scream and drops like a stone, leaving the one remaining enemy alone and facing both War and Belflin.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Lyssa reaches the tree line and the general location of the hooded man. Apart from a noxious smell of unwashed bodies, there is no sign of either him or the imp like creature.

Its Wars turn to attack

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

How far away is the dude who took the amulet?

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

You can see no sign of either the imp or his hooded master. He appeared to step back into the tree line and vanish. The only assailent left is the half orc facing both War and Belflin.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

War swears under his breath at the disappearance of the hooded man. Stepping over the fallen half orc, he brings down his axe at the remaining foe. Attack roll 18+5= 23 Damage roll 1+3 (STR)=4

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Theres a splintering of bone and the half orcs ribs shatter. Blood wells from between his lips and he collapses in a heap with a loww groan...his last breath.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

So combat is over, correct?

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Correct

Male Half Orc Fighter

I look around to see what may have been dropped during combat and to see who needs to be healed.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

The two dead half orcs have the following:-

Studded leather armor, small shields,
long sword/battle axe, short bows, 20 arrows, 23 gp, 16
sp each.

There is no sign of the hooded man(Vortigen) or his Imp familiar. It is as if they simply vanished, along with Otto's amulet.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

Otto’s worst fear has come to pass. But now your
encounter with Vortigern and his minions is over. It
has become too dark to look for other lodging, so you
light the fire in the fireplace of the farmhouse and bar
the door. You clean the blood from your blades and
tend to your wounds as well as those of your comrades.
You set watch, and each of you says a silent prayer to
your respective gods that the spirits of your foes find
their rest and trouble you no further this night. You
eventually drift off to sleep, but your sleep is fitful—
filled with Talon’s devilish screams.
You wake to the sound of rain and gray skies. The sun, even hidden
behind the clouds, is a welcome sight.

If nyone wishes to do anything else please let me know before we continue onwards. Experience points will follow shortly.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

M H Sorcerer 1

Hey wait a minute, does this mean we go up a level?

Male 1/2 Elf (Bard 1) Arcane Linguist Scholar in the Ancient and Grand Elven Tradition1

Lloyd softly sings those to sleep who seem most restless and casts his remaining heals on those wounded.

Indeed it does!

Please alter your profiles accordingly and can you let me know when they are done. Thanks.

Male 1/2 Elf (Bard 1) Arcane Linguist Scholar in the Ancient and Grand Elven Tradition1

Updated and now smoother than a basket of oiled snakes.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

And now to continue...

"It has been two days since the encounter with Vortigen and his devilish familiar, Talon. You still bear the wounds of the battle. Many of your group still bear lingering injuries both physical and mental, not the least of which are the nightmarish images that plague Otto in his dreams. You recall vividly the bodies of the farmer and his family, the clawed hands of the skeletons as they pushed through the soil, summoned by Vortigen and the helish shrieks of Talon as it revealed its true form.
Weary from your long journey and its experiences your party makes its way along the path toward the village of Fairhill searching for a warm fire and a safe bed.
The road you travel on gradualy slopes upward as you leave the Tradeway behind and move into the foothills of the Stoneheart Mountains. The rolling hills are covered with green grass and spring flowers that lift your spirits. You believe that you should arrive in Fairhill within two hours."

Thanks Lloyd and War.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

The stumpy frame, the wild hair and beard, the erroneous odor of wet goat- War Nuraim does not seem at place here with the pretty flowers and rolling green landscape. Jagged mountains, rock filled warrens, lightning stricken trees- these seem to fit the look and feel of the groups resident dwarf. Not that he seems to care if he fits in or not. "So, Ahto- whoot doo ya thin' thaat tha maan with tha hood whans yer necklice foor? An wher en da niin hells ar we 'eaded?" With a slight shrug, he looks about at the rest of the group, not really listening (or waiting) for Otto's answer, but trying to break up the monotony of the day's journey. Grabbing a few small rocks from the ground in a large dwarven paw, he places them in his battered pewter mug and shakes it about. (To no one in particular) "Ah doon't knoo abou yoo, boot ah fancy som fresh maet or somthin'. Am goona try an catch somthin' tosty ta eat." With that said, War heads out from the group and tries to scrounge something edible (not necessarily tasty) from the nearby lands.

Spoiler:
Survival Roll:11+5+1 (ranks+Wis mod)= 17

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War

Spoiler:
After searching for about an hour you notice a small grove of trees with a bubbling brook by it's side.. It's about 500 yards away from the meadow where you left the rest of the group. A few yards away you see a small pool of water with fish jumping at insects skipping accross the waters surface. Food! As you stop to look, you notice a large number of human bones in the water. As you look around more you notice a cave entrance in the side of a hill across the pool, about 20' up. Two men in chainmail hang upside down from a pole, braced against a tree limb, their throats cut. It is obvious to you that someone (or something) is ageing meat for dinner.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Ironhard:

Spoiler:
War will Listen (Roll: 4+1+5= 10(Wis mod+ Ranks)) for anything in the area that might be lurking about, then attempt to cut the dead men down from their spot in the tree with his war axe (if he can- I'll use Climb (Take 10) if I need to to get there). Once they are down, he'll make a quick Search (Roll: 18+1+2=21) (Wis mod+Ranks)of the bodies to see if they have any valuables. Not really looking to take any valuables at this point, just checking to see if whatever hung them is interested in something like that.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War

Spoiler:
As you approach the bodies, the smell is the first thing that hits you. As you cautiously approach the bodies the sudden roar that emenates from deep inside the cave mouth gives you pause. You can hear something large moving towards the front of the cave. From what you can see the hanging bodies have been stripped of all items save their shredded armour.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Am I in the tree or at the mouth of the cave?

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War:

Spoiler:
You are by the two corpses, next to the tree, about 30' away from the cave mouth, which is also about 20' above you up the side of the hill.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Ironhard:

Spoiler:
War looks to the corpses and says "Ah'll get yoo doon in a mun or too." Can he see a way to get to the cave mouth from his current location? I'd like to try an position myself to be able see the cave mouth but stay on the "level" below it, if you will. With that, War lets a baritone, challenging warcry that sounds like a bull elephant. "Coom ou' an see me, ya beesta!" He yanks his throwing axe from a loop across his back and hoping the group hears his shout, prepares to throw the axe at the first thing out of the cave mouth.

Male Half Orc Fighter

*scratches my head and looks around*

"So, um, yeah, where to now??"

updated to second level

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

All those back at the grassy meadow suddenly hear a bellowing war cry coming from within a copse of trees about 500 yards away. It sounds like War.

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War:

Spoiler:
You manage to get closer to the cave mouth and place yourself on the slope below it. As you stand your ground, a tall creature emerges from the darkness. This creature is about 9' tall but very thin. It has long and ungainly wart covered arms and legs, both of which end in sharp claws. Its green hair seems to writhe of it's own accord. It's long, thin nose quivers as the creature sniffs the air..."sniff-sniff-sniff...I smell ... dwarf!"

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Ironhard:

Spoiler:
Can I throw my axe at it now or do I need an initiative check?

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War:

Spoiler:
I'll let you have a suprise attack first, then roll initiative. Also, War recognises the creature as a troll.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 1

Ironhard:

Spoiler:
Seeing the troll at the cave mouth, War cries out in surly Dwarven "Ek Gid Ek!". His veins pulse and pop with rage as his face contorts with hatred for the evil giant. He throws his throwing axe at the beast hoping to draw first blood. Flying into a Barbarian Rage (Updated Stats while in a Rage: STR: 20 CON: 20 HP: 31 Will Save: +3 In effect for 8 rounds)(Also, +4 Dodge bonus to AC against the Troll AC: 22) Attack roll: 7+5 (BAB +3 DEX Mod)=12 Damage: 6+5 (STR Mod)= 11

Male Human (well i was this morning) Technical Sales Facilitator

War:

Spoiler:
The throwing axe whistles through the air and hits the troll in the chest, but bounces right off it's tougth skin.

"Hoo, hoo , hoo! Hello little man. 'ave you come to pay tribute to Karigror?"

The troll has a great axe in one claw and a human femur in the other from which he proceeds to suck the marrow from.

Male Half Orc Fighter

Weapon at the ready I approach War's position.
