Ah..I take it your at work Dabbler..give me a buzz on YIM when you get home.Duskwood stalker is ok but you have to be Elven or half elven to qualify for it..and I've been through every book I have and can think of only two clases that might do you

The Extreme Explorer..From the Eberron Core Book..yes shock horror I'm actually suggesting an Eberron PrC
or
The Dragon Stalker from The Dracinomicon

you will find pretty much every Prestige class for 3.5 ever written here

Wellard,

At 3rd Level, Gashelle takes the feat "Short Haft" (from the Players Handbook II, page 82; as a swift action, she can "choke up" on her glaive and fight adjacent foes instead of foes 10' away).

She's also learned Shocking Grasp, studied "Decipher Script" a lot, and would like to take a rank in Languages and learn the language the Derro book is written in.

And as a 3rd Level Duskblade, she learns the signature "arcane channel" technique, that allows her to cast touch spells and deliver them through melee attacks, all as a standard action.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

From that list also: Cragtop Archer, Order of the Bow Initiate - the latter appears in both Ranger and Rogue class-specific PrC lists so it may just fit nicely ... and yes, it's really boring Sunday at work today ...

Chris, now that Eltarial has the resources and the skills on paper, she'll be able to make specific weapons and armour. Would a masterwork Elven Courtblade be more Gashelle's style, or are you sticking with the glaive? That said, if anyone has any requirements for specialist weapons or armour, now is the time to say so ...

The journal is written in a debased form of Dwarven so it doesnt require a seperate language proficiency..if it had been in undercommon that would have been different.

So Lyjanni looks all good to you Wellard?

Dabbler, Thanks! :) ( I think you mean Darkwoods Hunter though?) And sorry, I should have specified that a range friendly PrCs was what I was looking for. I had checked out the Order of the Bow Initiate but for some reason I missed the Darkwoods Hunter so gracias. And it Does fit in perfectly with Lyjanni's character and racial background. But unless we're going to be running into a lot of Orcs (Hmmm?? Hint Hint DM? ;-) a lot of it's abilities might be wasted...no?

Oh, and Wellard, just wanted to check. Are we not bothering with weights in this game? As Lyjanni needs to have a light load for many of her skills to work I'd put a lot of time and thought into weights. But it doesn't seem like any of the other characters are hampered by them and it's certainly easier if it's not important so if that's the case than I just won't worry about it anymore.

Hey guys a few things:
1) I assume we are 3rd level now Awsome guys!
Avinar will take the Unorthodoxed Flurry Feat (Use flurries with any 1 weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse) Of course I select Mother's Kiss.
2)Dabbler, I would love it if you could add a basket handle or somesort of Handle to Mother's kiss, so I can use it to BLUNT punch opponents who have DR piercing or slashing, I will look at Craig Shackleton's art of the duel for Hilts, also can Eltariel improve Mother's Kiss to master work (inlaies, rework the blade ect) Eltariels touch to Mother's Kiss would Honor Avinar
3) Can I have the ring of Protection, soon I will not be wearing Armor....or with an equal share of gold I can look to buy something....

I AM REALLY glad the diary we found answeed some questions and gave the adventure solid meaning, I can see future run ins with the survivours of this cult and its dark god.....It seemed a bit easy, except for the last 2 rooms

Thanks for asking, Dabbler. I'm imagining that almost all Duskblades do, indeed, use an Elven Courtblade. In her backstory, Gashelle was about to be given her "graduation courtblade" when things went horribly wrong.

So she took up the glaive, a weapon the Duskblades taught, as a training weapon, to give other students practice fighting against pole arms, but never considered that graduates would actually want to use. With the possible exception of Armsman Drolan, who liked Gashelle, if any of her teachers saw her current fighting technique, using her strength instead of finesse, with a ridiculous glaive, they would probably try to kill her on the spot out of embarrassment.

And that's her story. I want her to develop her own style, faithful to the underlying principles of the Duskblades, but indicative of a wider scope than her trainers would have allowed.

(As well, I already gave the character a higher Strength than Dexterity, and weapon focus with glaive.)

What weapon features could you put on a glaive? +1 enhancement, yes, please. Anything else requires a higher caster level, doesn't it? Even simple things like shock (8th Level) and spell-storing (12th Level).

(Sorry for the Thread Jack here but...)

OMG!!! Larcifer! I just saw in going through our game thread that you're in a GAMMA WORLD game??!!!

Gamma World is my Single Favourite RPG I've Ever played. I only got to play it a few times as a young teen but I was HOOKED. Recently I've been searching for stuff online about it but haven't found much. For some reason nothing in google turned up GM stuff on Paizo? And I guess I never thought to search Paizo specifically. But Dude! You Have to get me into that Game! Hey, I know! Maybe if there's not enough space you can PvP one of the players so there's an opening? =D

But seriously I would Love to play in that game...I still have the image of my lizard man (I think? This was like 25 or more years ago!) clutching his super valuable Conan comic he had found while his village was destroyed by evil mutants (or something like that...sigh. Memories)

And again, my apologies Wellard and All for the interruption. We now bring you back to our regularly scheduled game...

...speaking of which, Larcifer, for Mother's Kiss what about something like Brass Knuckles attached to the hilt??

And Dabbler...will Elteriel's new magic making abilities apply to her soon to be new friends too? It'd be great to have some kinda magic cast on her bow (Shock sounds good to me too ;-)

Plus, if she or anyone else needs master work bows or arrows made for them she's your girl.

Which reminds me, Wellard, does your game allow custom made weapons and items? Like say...whistling arrows or grappling hook arrows?

And finally, Dabbler, I'm finding I really like the way Elteriel character always speaks in the first person IC. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do that in a PbP and it has a really unique flavour

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Hey, Khaladon. I just read through your PC. That's a terrific character! But just a note regarding the bolas.

The Beta rules really reduce the effectiveness of combat maneuvers. (To successfully trip someone under the Beta rules, your PC would need to roll her target's CMB + 15.)

Sovereign Court

Khal..Yes all the way to the custom arrows..Green Arrow always was one of my favourite Superheroes...but no boxing glove arrows ok. Order of the Bow initiates are deadly..I've Dm'd for one in my tabletop group so I have practical experience with them.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Right now, Eltariel can make masterwork items using her craft skill, and it will take time. I plan on her taking item creation feats starting around 7th level (sorry guys), she needs to take Practised Caster to keep the levels up as she is the party's primary caster for utility and healing magic right now. Gashelle has combat magic, and we aren't sure if Aude is playing for certain (I hope so). Also bear in mind that making items takes time. We may find it simply more efficient for me to take other metamagic feats than to make items, you never know.

Now, making changes to Mother's Kiss, a basket hilt is easy, masterworking it will take some time. It works out measured in weeks, and I'll need some masterwork tools and the magecraft spell to make sure of it ... So making masterwork gear is not fast, but it's something I can return to between adventures. Plus, as my skill increases, the time will cut down.

Female Human Cleric of Pharasma 6

Aude WILL be there :)
Do you need any information from me ?

Sovereign Court

Aude you need to advance yourself to 3rd level

Adding 6 hitpoints for being human and 6+con bonus for levels 2 and 3 you should have 32 HP

I need to know from everyone your views on allowing the traits, which are in effect, minor feats into the game.

if everyone is in favour then you can pick two..if not then Aude will have to lose hers

I'm fine with traits, but where do we find them? Actually reading the Wilderlands Player's Guide, I realise I've been treating Eltariel as having the Literate and/or Educated feats, which is perfectly normal for her background and for standard D&D but not for the Wilderlands it seems, so any traits I took would cover these angles anyway ...

I feel your pain, Aude!

By the way, you three new ones are up to introduce yourselves IC!

Most of them come from the second darkness players guide..which you would have to buy..and I'm not going to force anyone to buy anything..if you want to take literate and educated as traits its fine by me(though I usually ignore that rule..its just a feat eater for spell casters as far as I'm concerned)

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Cool ... howsabout we say 'Literate' and 'Noble Connections' as you've already thrown in that I should be formally addressed as 'Lady' and Auntie's in the priesthood?

One good reason to always copy and save your character info & posts. I learned the hard way too Aude ;-)

Well! If my handy Arms & Equipment Guide didn’t already have some waiting for me. =D
Ammunition
Item Cost Damage Crit Range Type
Arrow, alchemist’s 75 gp 1d4 next rnd ×2 As weapon -
Arrow, blunt(wooden) 5 sp 1d8 subdual ×2 As weapon Bludgeoning
Arrow, flight 8 gp as weapon ×2 +25’ Piercing
Arrow, signal 5 sp as weapon ×2 As weapon Piercing
Arrow, thundering 2 gp — — As weapon —

And then I’ve added to the possible list…

List of (more) Custom Arrows Ideas:
-Grapping hook arrow
-Blunt Arrow (iron) (effective against undead Skeletons and such! : )
-Holy Water Arrow
-Cold Iron arrow
-Adamantine Arrow
-Silver Sheen Arrow

Instead of me asking and you approving, do you just want to make up prices and any other penalties or special qualities you think appropriate Wellard for the ones you’ll allow Wellard?

And anyone else have any other ideas? All are welcome.

Boy, she’s really gonna need a Quiver of Elhonia with all these arrows. Hmmmm, Eltariel?? ;-)

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

(message vanished; we try again)

If Gashelle were going to take two traits out of Second darkness, they would likely be Reactive (+2 on initiative) and Suspicious (+2 on saves against illusions).

Don't worry about traits for me
Aude was initially created for a second darkness Pbp who stopped before we even began to play .
I'll drop them .

Prices for

-Grapping hook arrow 1 gp(-4 to hit due to poor balance)
-Blunt Arrow (iron)2 sp each (effective against undead Skeletons and such! : )
-Holy Water Arrow 5 gp each
-Cold Iron arrow 3sp each
-Adamantine Arrow not available as singles(3001Gp for 20 and VERY rare)
-Silver Sheen Arrow(not possible as silver sheens effects only last for 1 hour)either buy silver sheen which will let you coat 20 arrows for 250GP a flask..or buy alchemical silver arrows at 90GP each(which is a mugs game)

Female Human Cleric of Pharasma 6

Aude should be all right now ( I did save it)

She looks good ...I love the idea that I'm picking up from your posts that Aude arrived here from Golarion. Was it willingly, was she ordered or was it a whim of the goddess..stay tuned to this channel

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Perfect Wellard, that's great, thanks. I'm assuming though that those prices are for Purchasing the arrows as opposed to Crafting them though, yes?

And since we're just starting I'm assuming it's ok to add some of them to Lyjanni now, hmmm?

I'm also assuming from your lack of disagreement that I shouldn't worry too much about weights and will go with that unless I hear different. Okey doeky?

(I'll take no response as a yes to all questions ta save ya some typing time ;-)

BTW All, I have to HIGHLY Recommend an Amazingly useful (tiny) little program called Yankee Clipper. It's free and it stores All of your cuts&copies (until you go in and erase them). It's saved me no end of headache and frustration a gagillion times over.

ok encumberance is a PITA for everyone to calculate..so my way of looking at it is this..your character knows how much they can carry and fight efficiently..you may have to carry more stuff than that but there are ways(quick release knots etc) to ditch that weight as a free action before a fight starts..so why bother worrying about encumberance

That's one of the best explanations I've heard. Perfect, thanks. Also, (and sorry for all the questions!) would you allow a custom designed quiver that carries double the normal amount of arrows?

And Chris, was checking something out for my Duskblade in another campaign and just in case you hadn't taken a close look, Touch of Fatigue is a pretty cool spell Gashelle can do all day with no problem...

Fatigued: A fatigued character can neither run nor
charge and takes a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.
Doing anything that would normally cause fatigue
causes the fatigued character to become exhausted. After
8 hours of complete rest, fatigued characters are no
longer fatigued.

Oh, and thanks for the heads up about the Bola's earlier Chris.
Wellard, regarding that, the CMB for tripping with specialized ranged seems broken to me, as this is a Playtest of PF rules, would you have any ruling or house rules on that? I made a post in a thread about it HERE if anyone wants to take a look. This is also why I'm always suggesting new and different things, to push and play with the rules and see how they work :)

Double quiver..hmmm.let me think...well most of my ranged characters carry 50 arrows in two quivers so i see no problem with a 40 arrow capacity quiver

Oh, and thanks for the heads-up about the Bolas earlier, Chris.

Yep, Touch of Fatigue is a fine spell, and now usable through Gashelle's melee weapon. (It's a little odd, though. It has a range of touch. If you're that close to an opponent, odds are he's not going to be trying to charge you.)

Of course it doesn't work against, um, constructs, traps, undead, more constructs, fungus, more undead, ... it might have worked against the large spider we found at the entrance to the dungeon... (grin)

From some of Jason's comments, I think the change in CMB was deliberate. It sounds like he'd gotten tired of all the tripping and other maneuver-type builds, and wanted to encourage more poke-it-in-the-face fighter types. (This is why Gashelle hasn't bothered to learn Bigby's Tripping Hand; it would be almost useless in Pathfinder.)

Im inclined to agree with you about the bolas though..heres a house rule to be going on with..you add your dex bonus to the CMB as well as your strength...however you have to be able to get a clear line of sight to the target and can't use it into melee at all

That sounds very fair Wellard. What do you think about the being entangled part though. Could it be handled like a tanglefoot bag say?

and np Aude :)

Hey K ya the Gamma world game is good, post in the discussion thread that you would like to be placed on the alternate player list.....

The entangle wouldnt be as extreme as a TF bag..say a DC 12 escape artist to work it loose but it takes 1d3 +1 rounds off full round actions to unwrap from around you and whilst entangled you can move only 5 feet a round(hopping or crawling)

I believe the intention is to sell them in Tarsh

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I worked it out in the main thread; we have the +1 frost mace, and two +1 keen sickles. Eltariel has one, but will sell it in Tarsh. We will certainly sell the other, but possibly keep[ the mace as a spare weapon for Avinar or Gashelle. With the proceeds from the two sickles we can buy 3-4 +1 weapons should we desire to do so (Eltariel will go for a +1 scimitar or longsword).

"On Day three you will cross the river Werekat at Vanguard Hall..a Skandik outpost..you will then follow the banks of the Ruling River to Discam on the borders of the lands claimed by Tarsh. Discam is the base of a paladinical order serving the God Mitra(so you should be safe there)Day 5 will be spent on an actual road...the castle north of Discam is ruled by a paladin of Athena..(Gashelle may want to worship at the temple there) you should reach Tarsh late in the evening."

Might be a good idea to sell the tankards at Vanguard Hall . somehow I don't think the people of Discam or Tarsh would like them
