Hey gang, I saw an answer to a similar question but wanted to get further clarification.
From the Ex-Paladin portion of the SRD
Ex-Paladins
A paladin who ceases to be lawful good, who willfully commits an evil act, or who violates the code of conduct loses all paladin spells and class features (including the service of the paladin’s mount, but not weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies). She may not progress any further in levels as a paladin. She regains her abilities and advancement potential if she atones for her violations (see atonement), as appropriate.
And from the entry for Vindictive Bastard:
About Ex-Class Archetypes
This archetype can be taken by an ex-member of the indicated class immediately upon becoming an ex-member of that class, regardless of character level, replacing some or all of the lost class abilities.
So my question revolves around the lost Paladin abilities not referenced in the Archetype such as spellcasting and Aura of Courage. The way I read this- when the paladin falls they lose their class abilities, and then upon taking the archeyype, it replaces some or all of those abilities lost in the fall. My understanding being if the ability is not called out as being replaced, then the character doesn't have it because they lost it when they fell.
Is this correct? I have seen a lot of conflicting info about if a VB would still have fear immunity from AoC or Spellcasting abilities because the Archetype doesn't replace them, but if those abilities were lost in the fall I don't see how the archetype would let the VB keep those abilities.
As DM I know it's ultimately my decision (not a PFS game) but I would like to stay as close to RAW as I can.
