Recently, there was a convention in Ohio called Origins, and Paizo Publishing had attended. During a seminar I asked if there was any chance of a Savage Species type of book being published, and the kind representatives said that they had actually hired one of the head writers of that book to work for Paizo.
I absolutely loved the monster classes for 3.0/3.5 and enjoyed playing giants, trolls, minotaurs, driders, and all the like. So I'm kind of hoping that there are others like me on this site who enjoy much of the same...and we can drum up support for a possible future product?

It certainly doesn't belong in core, but in some campaigns, playing a troll is very, very cool. The monster class system of 3.5 sucked, hard, and I would love for Paizo to tackle it. Just not now. I want my core rules fixed first, then we can begin to fix the splats.

That would be Sean K Reynolds.

Agreed, it wouldn't belong in the core Pathfinder RPG book; however it would the be perfect inclusion for a Paizo replacement for the MM (though James already seems hell-bent on blowing the page-count of such a product beyond all proprotion!), or a subsequent Paizo monster book. It would be good if some base rules could be established for this, paving the way for future Pathfinder articles and products presenting non-standard races (Lyrakien, Ogre-kin, Llamia etal) from a player's perspective.
Savage Species may not have been the best solution to playing non-standard races, but it was better than NO solution, eg. restricting your players to the PHB races, which was the case prior to 3Ed and Savage Species.
Certainly, hiring Sean would seem a good opportunity to take a fresh look at monsters as playable races. I'm confident that Sean and the Paizo team can take a serious look at this with their combined experience.

I'd like to see this one pushed up the agenda a bit especially as a way of integrating low LA playable species into Pathfinder (eg aasimar, tieflings, centaur, lizardfolk, etc etc)
(maybe just a general idea of how Paizo wants to deal with LA and some examples in the core, with the detail left for follow ups would be best but for me this is something that was always left very 'wooly' in 3,0 / 3,5 and is crying out for some clarification - after all the MMI is OGL)

Agreed, the MM is OGL, and Paizo are probably going to have to address the void left by MM no longer appearing on bookstore shelves pretty soon. But their first priority is Pathfinder RPG which replaces the PHB and DMG - any MM replacement isn't yet on the release schedule - it probably won't be appearing before Pathfinder RPG hardcover hits the stores in Aug'09, so I think they have time to give this some consideration.
When Paizo do get around to publishing a MM replacement, I believe providing character options for low LA species WITHIN the MM, would be a preferred way to add value (and page-count) to the MM, than filling it up with more creatures (as has already been suggested by James Jacobs). New creatures can easily provide the content for a Paizo MMII. Reliable rules for playing low LA species within the MM would be invaluable!
For that matter, such rules don't have to wait until the release of a monster book. Creatures appear in the Bestiary appendix to every Pathfinder Adventure Path, and opening up some of these species as player characters would also be very welcome.

Now I thought I read somewhere that the minor tweak in the PC races were to put them on par with +1 LA creatures. Effectively lowering all LA's by 1. Maybe I'm incorrect on this. I'd have to go back and find it somewhere, but I'm feeling rather lazy at this exact moment.
