-Now that site is acting really, really, screwy. Grumble, grumble, grumble!
-I went by my FLGS today to see if they just so happened to put out the 4E books. No darn it! But they did have a box of them behind the counter, and a display set up by the DnD section for tomorrow with no books in it yet. God how I wanted to jump ol' boy and take his stuff! JK! Well I figure I will be up at 0700 waiting not so patiently for those books. Thats even if I go to sleep tonight! ROFL!

What i am interested in is to know what will be the fee for their DDI.
Precisely if everyone will have to pay the monthly fee, or just the DM.
I happen to play online with some friends, using Skype (for the vocal chat) and OpenRPG (for the maps), so the dungeon design tool and game table might be useful for my group.
As my players are cheap bastards, i will probably have to pay for them to make them use the game table if a fee is needed.

Aye the most irritating thing with the DDI is how much things still seem to be up in the air. I fully intend on subscribing, at least for the first year, to see what they'll have, but so far I'm not even sure what I'll be getting for my intended subscription, other than Dragon/Dungeon/a virtual tabletop. Is there some sort of rules database? I think so but details have changed so many times I really have no clue at this point ...
Cheers! :)

Even if a little voice in my head tells me i should resist, i know that i won't be able to and that i will buy the books, subscribe the DDI fee and all.
I tend to fail my Will saves for these things.
That doesn't mean i will convert to D&D4, i will probably just get the stuff, even if i don't use it.

I looked at the site, and am wondering if I was just seeing things. Does it really say that you are going to need a Intel p4 2.6 GHz or AMD XP 2400+ processor to run the DDI experience? That's a pretty large demand for the common user. I just bought a new laptop (first new computer in 8 years), and I upgraded to a 2.4 GHz processor.
I'm on the side of the fence that is going to wait and watch all the bugs get fixed before I crash my new computer on it.

At least you have a PC. I am using a Mac... Sigh...

Alright, do we have any clue on when this thing will be functional? I at least want the Character Builder.
The lead design of the DDI posted roughly around when 4E was released and, essentially, said the whole project was FUBAR'd and had no expected release date, other than "it'll come eventually". Maybe someone still has a link to his post on Gleemax? He seemed pretty upfront and honest about the whole thing, as well as apologetic. I'd like the Character Builder too, so hopefully they get it up and running soon!
Cheers! :)

hehAnd I agree, getting these two for free is rocking me hard right now. Codex of Betrayal this month is sweet! :)
Um, those aren't magazines. I get magazines at newsstands and coffee shops. They look like pdf's to me...</snark>

I have been pretty happy with the online offerings as well. I would probably pay if the quality stays where it has been.

I understand you're just being snarky, but you're definition of magazine seems to differ from the accepted meaning of the word. Those are magazines, whether you'd like to admit so or not.
Cheers! :)

Since the goal seems to degenerate the thread into various a semantic arguments:
Paizo does not send you magazines either - those are books.

As pleasant as the free Dragon and Dungeon eZines are; I will be happy when they give me the promised ability to use the content in the Character Generator! I just want what was promised. It is an election year, I should have known better.
This is disgusting. I am complaining about not being able to spend money.

I have some 3.5 Editions books to sell you then!

Yeah, I'm thinking the online mags are more than worth the subscription price -- despite having no plans to use the other components. But time will tell.
