Combat & Magic

Hi everybody

I'm a little worried about that subject.
There are some effect that can be pretty unbalancing.

Reading almost every power at 1st level, they sound like having integrated "Wizards Reserve Feats" in a your rules system.

On the first hand, it's a good idea, because a spellcaster is never out of all his capabilities, as they are limitless effects.
On the other hand, they have no TS, so I think that they can be abused by malicious players.

For example, the "Blinding Ray" of the Illusion School of Magic.
Is there a TS for that effect?
If the answer is "no", he can virtually hold an enemy out of combat for 1 round (and his mates can hack and slack him pretty easy.

In the case of Evocation School of Magic. They have a limitless supply of energy bolts dealing 1D6 +1 every 2 levels.
Ok that not seems pretty impressive, but thinking about your "Acid Splah" thread, an evoker of 10th deals 1D6+5 points of acid damage, and he already enters in the category of "Item Destroyer".

That's all folks

Thank you very much for your wonderful work.

Greetings from Spain

You might be under the mistaken impression that acid (and sonic) ignore hardness in 3.5E (and by extension, PFRPG). They do not, they damage objects normally, that is to say hardness applies.

acid, sonic: full, then apply hardness
fire: half, then apply hardness
electricity, cold: quarter, then apply hardness

The exception is that certain sonic psionic powers specifically state they bypass hardness. But that's not relevant to Pathfinder.

In my games I don't see anything unbalanced in these powers. The Illusionist's power can be easily handled when designing encounters and I have no problems at all with a Evoker who's using his acid to destroy items. Usually, your typical level 10 barbarian can do more damage to objects.

I am more worried about how these powers scale (or better, how many of these powers don't scale) in the high levels. It's always sad when many powers just loose most of their usefulness in later levels.
