Sarastal kneels next to the door jamb (further soiling the knees of her shoddy gown) and peeks around the corner. If she sees more than three swordsmen, she begins a droning incantation of sleep. Otherwise she puts an incantation of light on a copper piece and prepares to throw it into the room.

With your elven vision you can see all of the attackers in the darkness! Need your init roll please!

Init: 1d20+2=5

init (1d20+3=21)

Sun Fei moves quickly into the dark trying to adjust her eyes. If she can maneuver to somewhere she can strike one of their shadowy ambushers, she will.

Init 1d20+3=23

Yselle will unshutter her lamp and enter holding it in her left hand. She will fight with her rapier in her right hand.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

init 1d20+3=19

Inros will ready a ranged attack on the first enemy he can discern. Once he has a clear shot and can see an enemy, he shoots his longbow at that enemy.

Squinting into the room, Inros looses an arrow at an attacker, taking all the care he can to not hit his allies.

attack This is with Precise shot to avoid shooting into melee penalty, and point blank shot (assuming targets are within 30 feet) (1d20+5=13)

damage (hopefully) 1d8=4

Male Human Ranger 2

Beren girds himself against the pain and flails wildly at his attacker.

1d20+2= 3, natural 1. could this encounter go any worse

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix groans at the wound on his arm and swings again. "Lord in Iron, bring me guidance and strength he murmurs as he swings.

Greatsword Attack (1d20+2=16)

Greatsword Damage (2d6+1=9)

where do we stand on experience by the way?

Liberty's Edge

Init Order: Yselle, Renegade guards, Sun, Inros, Thelix, Sarastal and Beren!

Stepping up to the doorway, Yselle, unshutters her light source to bring light to the battle. The guards attack again, the one attacking Beren misses as his eyes are still adjusting to the new light source. Another crossbow shot fires off and is aimmed at Yselle trying to knock out the shiny light, the bolt lodges into the doorframe missing her. Thelix is hit again from the side with a slash across his ribcage( 1 hp dam), the other guard seeing more folks coming into the room moves to attack them thinking his friend has got things handled. Sun seeing the man disengage from Thelix, she moves to attack him. Inros moves up to the door and fires off a shot but his vision is effected by the new light that popped up so his shot goes wide of the mark. Thelix now very angry at his two wounds swings his great sword at the man in front of him, his sword is very close to hitting scaring the man a bit who dodges back out of the way of the near miss. Sarastal kneeling by the door begins to chant bringing forth magiacl energies into play tossing up a few rose petals, the guards within range seem effected for a moment but only one drops to the ground, a soft faint snoring sound coming from him. The wounded dwarf catches a break as his attacker slinks to the floor of the shop and begins to make snoring sounds.

Next round! State your actions! Roll your dice! And smile because you get to play DnD! I will do XP when this chapter is over! I still need to decide how to do this with the new players, by the time this chapter is over I will have it figured out! Happing gaming!

Yselle charges the crossbowmen, her rapier slashing this way and that.

Attack : 1d20-1=10

Sarastal stares at Thelix; he looks so manly and dashing with his grave wounds, life oozing from his body, death's claws clutching at his throat.

She dismisses the thought and brings her attention back to the matter at hand and fires her crossbow at the attackers, saving her magery in case there are reinforcements coming.

1d20+2=12

Male Human Ranger 2

Beren raises his mace and brings it to bear on the prone guard at his feet. "welcome to your eternal slumber," he mutters under his breath as he swings.

attack 1d20+2= 12, damage 1d8+2= 10

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix, doubt beginning to cross his mind for the first time, takes another swing at the man in front of him.

Greatsword Attack (1d20+2=18)

Greatsword Damage (2d6+1=6)

Sun Fei swings her sword in a feeble arc that manages to miss anything closely resembling a target.

atk (1d20+3=9, 1d10+2=3)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros slides another arrow into his bow and fires at Thelix's attacker, his eyes still trying to adjust to the light changes.
(again precise shot and point blank shot used) (1d20+5=13)

damage 1d8=1

glad I rolled a 1 damage for a shot that probably missed again anyway

Liberty's Edge

Breaking from her position, Yselle charges out with her rapier heading for the crossbowman, she has no trouble getting to the man but misses as she tries to move around the large vat of water as cover. The crossbowman drops his weapon and grabs his longsword at his side out to defend himself, he does not attack her yet taking a step back to give himself more room to fight in. The guard facing Sun swings his sword at her, missing just barely which distracts her own attack so they continue to stand off. The last awake guard tries to finish Thelix so he can move on to the next intruder but finds it will take a little long than he figured as he misses the mark and gets blooded for his efforts and over confidence. As he steps back from the attack an arrow whizes by where he once stood as does a bolt both from the two still standing at the doors edge. Beren standing over the sleeping man brings up his mace and down at the man, his wounds hamper his movement and the mace slams into the floor next to the man's head. Even with the loud noise next his head the man contiues to sleep....

Next Round

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Sorry guys AFK till Sunday PM. Please DM play Thelix. I think you get the idea about his attitude. He will take a moment to cast defensivly and heal himself if he takes another wound.

OOC: I won't be posting until later tonight, so I will delay Yeselle's turn in combat.

Sun Fei fights down her reluctance to attack misguided guards and swings again. Her hesitance must be showing as her sword completely misses again.

atk (1d20+3=6, 1d10+2=12)

Yselle strikes and hits a crossbowman squarely. But her cut is so shallow it rends merely cloth.

1d20=20, 1d6=1

My strength modifier is -1, so I do 0 hp damage.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Trying to block out his frustrations, Inros once again takes a shot at Thelix's foe.

Attack 1d20+5=14

Damage 1d8=1

Invisible Castle, why have you forsaken me?

IC does that a lot. IC is a cruel and jealous god.

Sarastal begins another sleeping dweomer, slightly uneasy at her comrades' inability to deal with the guards.

Male Human Ranger 2

Missing the prone man gives Beren pause, it must have been Abadar's judgement that this one lives. He kneals on the mans chest to keep him pinned to the floor and spontaneously casts cure light wounds on himself.

grapple 1d20+2= 17, CLW= 1d8+1= 5

Liberty's Edge

The battle continues fast and furious in the smelly, half dark room. Yselle strikes out at the man with the crossbow and nicks him on the shoulder. He smiles at that and lashes out with his longsword striking a blow of his own(6 hps dam). Sun and her foe exchange blows again neither gaining an advantage. The man facing Thelix falters in his attack because of the last arrow that whizzed by so he hesitates to move in on Thelix. As he stands ready for the holy warriors attack another arrow whizzes by his head lodging itself in the wall behind him. More divine help arrives as another of the attackers falls to the gournd fast asleep.(Thelix's man) Beren stands over the sleeping man shaking his head at how he could have missed the man.

Next round! Thelix and Beren still get attacks if they want for the last round and then state your action for the new one!

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix watches his foe fall to the ground, then channels the holy power of Gorum through his holy symbol, and invigorates himself with his healing power. With a growl under his voice, he heads towards one of the enemy with the audacity to remain upright.

CLW (1d8+1=6)

Move and Attack

Greatsword Attack (1d20+2=22)

Confirm Critical (1d20+2=18)

Critical Damage (4d6+2=18)

The whole world seems to slow down as the holy might of Gorum infuses Thelix's body. He can do no wrong. He is moving twice as fast as the rest of the world, and his body has taken on the Iron of his Lords might.

"Welcome to the embrace of the Lord of Iron", he screams his voice raw with sacred fury.

Yselle screams, her voice shrill and childlike. She bats her rapier around wildly as her blood gushes down on the abattoir floor.

OOC:Attack 1d20-1=8, Damage 1d6-1=5

Current HP is 1/7

The smells in the slaughterhouse are starting to get to Sun Fei as her sword misses yet again.

atk (1d20+3=7, 1d10+2=10)

omg IC hates this character!

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros shouts "Yselle needs help, NOW!"

"Third time's the charm," Inros says to himself. So once again, he fires his bow, but this time at Yselle's attacker.

1d20+5=7, 1d8=4

Inros looks at his bow, wondering if it got damaged in all the action of the past couple days.

Sarastal bites her lip nervously. Somehow she thought being an adventurer would be more romantic and less like hogs getting butchered in a slaughterhouse.

She reloads her crossbow and tries to squeeze in a shot between the meleeing figures, but the shot bounces harmlessly off of the wall.

1d20+2=9

Male Human Ranger 2

After Beren takes the actions in my post above, he will take his manacles out and shackle the sleeping guard to whatever is handy. In response to Inros' warning about Yselle, Beren replies, "Hold on lass, help is on the way."

Yselle sobs. "It hurts!"

Liberty's Edge

Sorry Beren, some how I missed your earlier post, must have stuck in while I was typing!

From last round: While Beren calls forth his gods help to heal his wounds he bends down and easily secures the sleeping man. Thelix takes his great sword and pounds the man he was fighting, this one not so lucky as his friend, the sword takes his life...

Liberty's Edge

Yselle screams as blood roles down her body she makes a poor attempt at attacking so distracted by the blood and the pain. Sun and the man exchange blows to the sword again, each one distracted by the smells and sounds of battle. The man fighting Yselle lunges at the frightened girl, her hopping around in pain saves her as the man misses her completely. Inros tries changing targets thinking he might have better luck but to no avail his arrow streaks out and finds another wall as does a bolt fired from the doorway by the young elf. Taking a few more moments to make sure his sleeping man will not try to anything stupid, he pulls out manacles and further secures the traitor as he shouts "Hold on lass, help is on the way!"...

Next round!!!

Yselle turns away from her enemy and tries to flee towards Beren ...

Male Human Ranger 2

Beren charges around the other side ofthe vat so that he comes at Yselle and the guard from the other direction. He wades in heavily with his mace.

attack(flanking) 1d20+4= 16, damage= 1d8+2= 6

As he strikes he yells, "Face me you traitor."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros knows he must hurt the attackers now, or risk losing friends.

Once more, he shoots at Yselle's attacker:

1d20+5=14, 1d8=5

anyone having problems with the copy/click link for bbcode on IC? used to work, but not anymore. I am using firefox 3.06

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix moves towards the next foe, blood dripping from his sword, and holy frevor in his eyes.

Greatsword Attack (1d20+2=11)

Forgetting his training in his exuberence he overswings, and misses the enemy.

"Focus, Focus" he repeats to himself. "The Lord in Iron, does not panic".

I have the same linking problem, and use Firefox as well. Used to work, but now I have to copy and paste.

Sarastal waits until the last attacker has fallen; her last spell would not be suitable for firing into a chaotic mob of attackers.

"Why don't we just stop this. Obviously we are equally well matched." says Sun Fei to her equally useless opponent as she sends her sword past his left flank again.

atk again... (1d20+3=6, 1d10+2=11)

yeah IC has been doing that to me for a while, using FF3.0.6 too.

Liberty's Edge

The newly hired warriors by the city of Korvosa are fighting an unexpected battle against former city guardsmen, renegades, using the cities current troubles for their own gain. So far the battle as been an even one except for the renegades falling asleep on the job so to speak. Having trouble against her foe Yselle retreats to catch her breath and maybe get a second to patch her wounds closed. The man tries to swipe at the retreating girl but she is to far away, his sword hitting only air. His friend finally fairs better against his opponent. He lunges in drawing blood along Sun's side just below the rib cage. As his lunge is a success the warrioress says "Why don't we just stop this, obviously we are evenly matched!" as she takes in a quick breath from the sudden opening of her skin. He snorts, "I think not!" She lashes out in anger but he is quick to step back out of range of her sword. Shaking his head at all of the missed shot he tries one more time firing at the man Yselle is retreating from but again his luck fails him again, his arrow streaks past the renegade and thuds into the far wall not to far from the others. Thelix and Beren both move in trying to block the man from getting more attacks at Yselle. Both make valiant attempts at bringing down the man but fall short, Beren is so close the man's eyes show fear for the first time in the battle. Sarastal kneeling by the doorway still watches hoping her new comrades will finish off these guys quickly....

Next Round!! ;-)

Yselle stumbles out of the chaos, back into the shed.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros considered putting away his (usually) trusty bow and move in with his sword instead, but decided against it since so many of his friends were beginning to surround the villain.

So he reaches into his emptying quiver once again:

1d20+5=16, 1d8=4

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

With a feral Growl Thelix swings his might weapon again.

Greatsword Attack (1d20+2=11)

"Darn this darkness". "Hold Still and face Gorum's wrath".

"Can't you finish that guard off?" Sarastal pipes up in a loud whisper. "These two won't stay asleep forever, you know."

Male Human Ranger 2

Beren raises his shield, and starts incanting in celstial.

casting defensively, command spell, concentration check (1d20+3= 17)

As his gaze falls on the guard, Beren imposes the will of Abadar on him. Beren utters a single word, 'Drop'.

Liberty's Edge

Still bleeding, Yselle stumbles back into the shed to catch her breath and attend her wounds. The renegade guard attacks Sun again with a smug look on his face thinking he has the advantage but his sword only finds Sun's with a loud clang as she block his effort. The other man still standing meets a similar ending but his strike finds Thelix's greatsword both men at a stand still. Inros's arrows are running out fast each finding the wall instead of his intended target and once again the same result happens but he is soooo close that the man jerks back at the nearness of the shot. Sarastal shouts out for everyone to hurry up and take these guys down because her magic will not last forever on those two sleep thugs. Raising his shield for added protection, Beren launches some of his divine energies at the renegade guard facing off against Thelix. The man stops his square off and suddenly drops his weapon to the floor, a look of surprise on his face as he stands there defenceless with a greatsword right in his face.....

Next Round!

Sarastal waits with breathless anticipation...

Helpless to stop her own bleeding, Yselle watches in horror. She still has strength enough to aim and shoot her crossbow. But she is likely to hit her one of her own. There is nothing she could do.
