Exotic weapons and Weapon Training - page 18

I'm wondering about the relationship between the fighter's Weapon Training ability and exotic weapons. It feels strange for Weapon Training to grant bonuses to weapons in which the fighter is not proficient.

The main suspects are the Monk and Double weapons group. Would a fighter spend time training in weapons he can't use effectively?

Yes. His weapon training offsets his penalties for wielding a weapon that is difficult to master. And if he wants to truly master the weapon, he also takes a feat to get full proficiency.
