There's numerous reports from people now that WotC (and thus, likely RPGA) won't be at Gencon due to the ongoing Chapter 11... If that ends up being the case, there's going to be a LOT of disgruntled RPGA'ers who've already booked hotels and planes that are looking to play in LFR.
In the past years, the primary reason my group has gone is for LG, and I'm sure we're not alone. If there's any way Paizo can convert all those players, that'd be a huge coup!

Oooh, I like the way you think, sirrah!
Seriously though- that's a sterling opportunity right there

Don't forget that the Blackmoor MMRPG by Arneson is also debuting at GenCon.

Actually, I believe this will be the 4th year that Blackmoor events have run at GenCon. I figure they will still capitalize on the possible lack of an RPGA presence at GenCon.
I'm not sure what kind of gaming space Paizo has for GenCon this year but it would be nice if all the non-rpga organized play campaigns can be moved to the amply spaced Sagamore Ballroom if WOTC pulls out.

I'm still confused as to why the financial stability of GenCon Inc has anything to do with WotC's participation. If anything, the additional income that would be generated from WotC's involvement and fees would help them with the Chapter 11. I may not have all the facts, but the whole situation seems a little fishy.

Nick Logue did not make his own Sinister Stories chat event last night. He may have been scrobbled by Hasbro who intend to replace him with a robotic My Little Pony, to prevent Pathfinder (headed by Nick Logue) from muscling in on their turf.[yellow hardhat off]
Is that a crazy enough conspiracy theory to get the ball rolling?

Are you the real Nick Logue or the evil Baby Applejack replacment version?[yellow hardhat off]
On a slightly more sensible note (if you are the genuine Nick Logue) on a scale of one to ten, how do you rank the masterplan by the OP proposed to take over the RPGA world?

Two theories:
1) WotC could be one of the debtors to whom GenCon LLC owes money.
2) GenCon LLC is also being sued by LucasFilms. WotC has a license from LucasFilms to use the Star Wars IP. WotC attending an event held by an organization that LucasFilms is suing might be considered a "conflict of interests". In other words, its more important for WotC to kiss George's butt than it is for them to hang out with the fans.

I've got a new theory...WotC is waiting to see how well 4e is received before finalizing their presence at GenCon. If 4e is selling like gangbusters, they can use it to push other products. if they feel it needs a push, they can put 4e to the front and curb the other stuff. I have no doubts that WotC will be at GenCon. I'm sure they've already rented or reserved AT LEAST the same amount of space as last year.

I know it's been a month since this was commented, on but in lieu of the update that WotC is going to be at GenCon I'm curious.
How many people shuffled events over to 4E events?
I myself didn't move a thing, but I'm curious to see if this actually hurt WotC due to people not wanting to muck up their plans.
