Precursors? Read-firsts?

Planet Stories®

I thought I saw a thread here indicating that there are some Planet Stories books that are better if you read earlier installments in the series first, but now I can't find it. Can anyone help? I started with the NW Smith collection, and want to make sure that I get my reading in order for anything after that.

Thanks!

I do not believe the PS line has a particular order reading order in mind, though there are some books in the line that are part of the story. For example, the Moorcock and Gygax books.

Hmm, maybe it was the Moorcock. I could swear someone promised enhanced enjoyment of a book if one of the others by the same author was read first. Pretty sure it wasn't Gygax.

Part of the "same" story, is what I meant to say.

Drop in where ever. I'd suggest reading them in order of publication however. It's the same hourney many of us have been on.

While there are some books that are part of a series, all of our currently published novels stand alone just fine. That said, if you're like me and enjoy reading things in order just because, the series currently available are:

KANE OF OLD MARS (Michael Moorcock)
City of the Beast
Lord of the Spiders
Masters of the Pit (forthcoming)

SETNE INHETEP (Gary Gygax)
The Anubis Murders
The Samarkand Solution
Death in Delhi (forthcoming)

ERIC JOHN STARK (Leigh Brackett)
The Secret of Sinharat/People of the Talisman
The Ginger Star
The Hounds of Skaith (forthcoming)
The Reavers of Skaith (forthcoming)

...of those, Ginger Star/Hounds/Reavers are the only ones where I'd say reading them in order actually makes a difference.

Enjoy!

Many thanks James, and everyone.
