So who will be making a reappearance on the next season?
We've already seen the Daleks (ad infinitum), the Cybermen, the Autons, the Macra, the Sontarans, and the Master in all his gleefully unholy glory. We know that the new show loves to lean heavily on the old villains, which is all well and fine. The new monsters have been both hit and miss (the Slitheen were just ick, but the Ood were nothing but awesome). So any ideas about who we will be seeing coming back?
The Silurians and/or Seas Devils? The Mara? The Zygons? The Fendahl? The Rani? The Valeyard?
Omega?

Well, now that we've seen the Sontarans, I'm hoping we see their arch enemies the Ruutans.
I'd love to see the Ruutans.
I'd also like to see an episode that explains why the Doctor can't just go -before- the time locked period of the time war and warn someone. Susan, or Romanna or even the Rani.
A Rani episode could be darkly sad. Doctor defeats the Rani and she gets away, as she's fleeing she says "We'll meet again, Doctor!" And he says with certainly, "No, we won't." Give me some technobabble explination about how he can't tell her/convince her/change her fate.

I'd like to see multiple Dr.'s meet. The 5 Doctors was the best, even if Tom Baker didn't do it. I know we are still early for the new show, but some of the older 1980's Doctors might still be able to do it.

If you like mutliple-doctor stories, you should check this out.
It's only a webcomic, but it is utterly brilliant in its completeness. I thought I was a big old DW fanboy, but my geek powers are as nothing compared to this guy.

That's really excellent - thanks for the link! It's odd that he manages to capture the appearance and the idiom of all the Doctors so well, except for the 9th. I wonder why that is?
I wondered if Russell T Davies might do a multiple Doctors story as one of this year's specials. I know he's said he doesn't like them, but that might just be a smokescreen, and it's one of the "classic" Doctor Who stories that he hasn't yet tackled. Now that they've announced Matt Smith well in advance, he could potentially have a future Doctor in it, which would add a new twist. That might be seen as stepping on Steven Moffat's toes, though.

It was a reasonably fun episode. Lee Evans was in it, too. Michelle Ryan as a Lara Croft-type companion looked damn sexy in her outfit!
One thing that bothered me:
According to the episode's Confidential programme, the next of the four specials will be shown in the Autumn, and the last two parts shown at Christmas.

A pretty fun, if silly episode though made me wish we were seeing a full season this spring. The Mars episode isn't until Nov?
I wish that they would bring back a stable roster of UNIT characters rather than the random faces that pop up. Of course bringing the Brigadier back for an episode would be great (or Benton).

SO I read it all, went to my TV and quickly went to the BBC channel and tried to find it for Saturday...no luck. :(
Sometimes it sucks being the the USA. :(
I don't think any plans have been announced for any US airings of the specials yet... and since they haven't even aired The Next Doctor (the episode from Christmas 2008), it will probably be a while before Planet of the Dead airs.
Personally, I suspect that they'll wait until all of the specials are done, and then air them over consecutive weeks sometime in 2010.

"BBC America will air the five Doctor Who specials that wrap up David Tennant’s tenure on the show, according to Variety. The Next Doctor (the Christmas special) will air on June 27th; and Planet of the Dead will air in July. The remaining three specials have not been scheduled."

~laughter~ The Doctor is a cradle robber. Picking on a poor defensless 21 year old. OTOH, she is definately a hottie!

Not to sound rude or anything, but I'm glad to see that we over here (in Australia) finally got to see the new Who stories before you guys did. We got the Christmas special in January (quickest it's ever been on before) and we got Planet of the Dead a couple of weeks ago. I'm very disappointed that Michelle Ryan didn't stick around as a Companion, although I don't think we've seen the last of her and her
Having said that, I'm pretty chuffed about this:

For sure, she is definately a hottie... I love redheads, so I think I'm gonna enjoy this new companion. :D

what Specials have come out since the end of Series 4?..
And when was the animated episode The Infinite Quest released? Just noticed it on Itunes..

what Specials have come out since the end of Series 4?..
As far as full specials go, there have been two: The Next Doctor (Christmas 2008) and Planet of the Dead (Easter 2009). Next up is The Waters of Mars (November 2009) and the two-part Christmas special, which wraps up Tennant's tenure.
For completists, there were also a couple of special scenes featuring David Tennant as the Doctor: "The Music of the Spheres" was a 7-minute segment created as part of the Doctor Who Prom in July 2008 (broadcast on the BBC in December 2008), and "Tonight's the Night", a 3-minute segment broadcast in May 2009.
And when was the animated episode The Infinite Quest released? Just noticed it on Itunes..
The Infinite Quest originally debuted in weekly serial installments during the 2007 season of Totally Doctor Who.
A second animated serial, Dreamland, is in production for broadcast later this year.
