an evil grin crosses Rumils face as he looks at the bartender
"My dear friend, it would be wise for you not to insult my race and myself...it could be hazardous to your health. You might find us 'long lived, big eared freaks' the only thing between you and knife in a dark alley, catch my drift?"
without waiting for an answer Rumil walks over to the elven woman who has just entered. Rumil smiles and bows deeply to her
"My dear, you are a truly beautiful diamond on a hill of coal. May I buy you a drink?"
Hey, don't hate!
Anju thinks to herself (I really need to get Tikaani a leash of some sort, I hope he comes back). Rather taken aback by the bartender's comments and surprised by Rumil's offer Anju takes a minute before she can find her words. Just happy to meet another elf outside of South Shore Anju says "Fresh spring water would be lovely!"

Branahm |

Branahm makes his way back to the table he had shared with his brother and sits, suprised to see Arius wagering his hard-earned cash on the rabble's blood sports.
When his brother calls him over, he rises and walks over to the two men. "Picking up strays, Arius? Let's do something about that hand, then. "
Perversely, eliminating cure minor wounds means that the easiest way for me to heal 1 hp of damage is to burn a turn undead attempt (Alpha playtest pg 44-45). I'll try to position myself so the healing doesn't wake up the cheater, if possible. Since the minimum healing the turn effect could do will heal the damage. I got a 4, so that should heal everything (along with every bar patron in 30').

Branahm |

My previous post seems to have vanished into the ether, sorry if this is a duplicate.
Branahm makes his way back to the table where he and his brother were sitting. The commotion of the "game" draws his attention, and he is surprised to see his brother wagering his hard-earned money on the rabble's blood sports.
When his brother calls to him, he moves to his brother's side. "Gathering strays, Arius? Let's see what we can do for that hand, stranger. . . "
Since cure minor wounds is gone, Branahm will use a turn undead attempt to heal Ox (and everyone else in 30'. ) He'll try to position the heal so Ox's opponent doesn't get it if he can. I rolled a 4, so that should heal it.

Arius Pelgane |

When his brother calls to him, he moves to his brother's side. "Gathering strays, Arius? Let's see what we can do for that hand, stranger. . . "
Arius says, "Meet Trevel Cornwal, 'Ox' for short. Ox, my charming brother Branahm here is a Toragian priest by vocation."
"By the way, Ox, those guardsmen seemed surprisingly eager to lose their money betting against you. Any reason why?"
Arius will spend the evening in the bar with Ox and Branahm, but as usual, he'll drink moderately. In the morning he'll try to research the Harrow Deck in his old school's library and talk to some Varisian fortune-tellers.
Knowledge (Arcane) in library (if it's relevant) (1d20+7=14)
Gather Information to talk to fortune-tellers (1d20=17)
Assuming that Branahm agrees, he'll try to show up at the site an hour early to see who else comes.

Anju puts her arm around Rumil's and heads over to the bar
The bartender laughs at Rumil's request. "I'll give you dish water!" Still a little threatened by Rumil's words from before "I kid, I kid. It may not be fresh spring water but I can assure you it's clean" the bartender says as he puts a glass of water on the bar top.
As Rumil gets his drink Anju tells him about her trip from Mierani Forest and her experiences with the strange elixir. Anju sips her water and thinks (at least something around here is familiar).

Ox |

Ox feels no remorse about the number he put on the little thug. If the boy had of managed to cut him with the knife only he woould have held him no grudge, but rules were rules and he seemed more than eager to plunge the knife into him. He was glad to see the bout didn't escalate more.
He smiled to Arius as he ignored his plee that he need not spend money on him, he was free with it though as he just gave a gold to the woman. He would be covered for drink he suposed. " ah, It's but flesh." Ox boasted at the bleeding cut on his hand. His new friend's kin returned and seemed more than happy to heal him.He then let out a hardy laugh at being a found stray. "Thank you cleric. So, what brings a man of the clothe to the Brawler?"

Rumil smiles and listens to Anju's tale
"It seems I have forgotten to introduce myself, Lady Anju. I am Rumil a humble street urchin and protector of the unfortunate"
"Pleased to meet you Rumil! As you can probably tell, I'm a druid. I must find the old man who gave my people that elixir!"

Branahm |

"My brother and I are here to eat, and to consider our options. Our sister vanished several years ago, and we have only recently had a lead on her possible whereabouts. We are contemplating the best way to approach our new informant. "
Branahm falls silent for a few minutes, then looks at Ox. "We've asked many people in town, so one more won't hurt. Have you heard of a fortune teller named Zallara?"
Branahm agrees that he and his brother should show up an hour early.

you can finish your roleplay at the bar if you'd like, but I'm going to skip to the meeting time.
All:
Rumil you are the first to appear on the street the next day, he goes back to his perch from the day before, and watches again. The day passes slowly, about 3 hours before the meeting time, you see a dwarf peer into the glass as if expecting to see someone, shrug and walk away. about two hours later (an hour before meeting time) you see the guy who had knocked the loudmouth youth senseless the night before approach with those he had been speaking to in the bar. You watch as they attempt to blend into the crowd as much as a magic user, cleric, and former guard can in this district. You then see Anju walking down the street and follow her with your eyes, as she casually enters the shop. The Dwarf from earlier enters next, followed by a young human who appears to scurry down from the roof above you. The three men from last night finally enter at exactly the meeting time, and you decide to join them about 5 minutes later.
As you each enter the shop, your senses are assaulted by the smell of rare spices, herbs, and flowers. There is incense smouldering in wall-mounted burners that look like butterfly-winged elves. The walls are draped with brocaded tapestries, one showing a black-skulled beast juggling men’s hearts, another showing a pair of angels dancing atop a snow-blasted mountain. A third tapestry on the far wall depicts a tall hooded figure shrouded in mist, a flaming sword held in a skeletal hand. Several brightly-colored rugs cover the floor, but the room’s only furnishings are a wooden table covered by a bright red throwcloth and several elegant tall-backed chairs. A basket covered by blue cloth sits under the table. There are 7 notes on the table, each folded in half with one of your names on it.
Each note says:
[Your name],
Thank you for coming. I had to step out for a little while,to get some nessesities for our meeting. Please, have a seat while you wait. The
basket under the table contains bread and wine for you.
Inside the basket you find a large loaf of bread and a gallon jog of wine.(The bread is slightly stale)

Arius Pelgane |

For Ox and Branahm:
I'm happy to play out a bit more dialogue if you'd like; it'd probably be better to do it spoilered.
Ox, at some point in our conversation after we find out your connection to the fortune-teller and your quarrel with Lamm, Arius will tell you about his and Branahm's attempts to find their younger sister Alika. The details are in Arius' background as linked to his picture, and after you've known Arius for a few weeks, you'd probably find out about the rest of his background.

Rumil |

Anju
"I think Lady Anju these cards mean we are fated to be tied together for a time."
Rumil smiles and sets down his glass on the bar, bows to Anju
"With that my lady I must depart it was a pleasure and an honor to meet you,....if you wish to join me I will be nearby keeping an eye on Zellera house"
Rumil gets up and leaves the bar waving as he leaves
Rumil takes it all in after reading the note he takes a seat, he grabs the wine and uncorks the bottle, he takes a smell. Shrugging he grabs a glass and pours a glass.
"Would you like a glass Lady Anju, how about the rest of you folks?"

Tikaani |

Ox |

First night
__"By the way, Ox, those guardsmen seemed surprisingly eager to lose their money betting against you. Any reason why?"__
“Well, for one they aren’t bright, I serve…served with them for quite some time, I pulled each and everyone of their sorry asses out of trouble one time or another, but they forget easy. I recently have been wrongly suspected for a murder. One, that I of course, had no part! Some Bastard set me up and I intend to bring it to rights.”
--"My brother and I are here to eat, and to consider our options. Our sister vanished several years ago, and we have only recently had a lead on her possible whereabouts. We are contemplating the best way to approach our new informant. “Branahm falls silent for a few minutes, then looks at Ox.”We've asked many people in town, so one more won't hurt. Have you heard of a fortune teller named Zallara?" --
“Ah, odd.” Ox was taken back a bit, he wasn’t used to the gods or fate or whatever it was poking their fingers in his life this much. That wasn’t to say he minded, simply not accustomed to “I hadn’t had a bit of a lead on where to find who framed me until last night, the fortune teller sent me a card and told me to meet her tomorrow night.” He took a breath. “It’s a right odd thing too, no one in my home saw anyone tack it to the door and that’s hard to do with 13 people and a pack of hounds about the house. I’m sorry to hear of your sister, but if this Zallara can put her nose in your business and mine without us knowing perhaps we shall have a well found led at that, But no sorry to say I know not a lot more than that she has a shop on the street down the road.”
He glanced around the room and noted that the boy that was now shoved to the side on the floor got up and ran out the back entrance of the bar. At least he knew better than to try his luck when Ox had both his hands free.
Current:
Ox was glad to have others to wait with, He was never a patient man and they waited until the specified time and entered the shop.
he took stock of his potential allies; an elf, dwarf, roof walker, Arius and Branahm. it looked like Lamm had been busy enough. Make that two elves. He observed as he bitterly noted that the woman had indeed not showed up on time.
~"Would you like a glass Lady Anju, how about the rest of you folks?"
*"Looks like I forgot breakfast this morning! I'll take some thanks."
"Pleased to meet all of you."
“I think I had enough drink last night to last this one as well, thank you though and I might have had some bread but it seems the beast beat me to it.” He said with smirk. He would have cuffed the Wolf had it been his to cuff, but he assumed that it was wild as the wood he came from, elves have odd ways with making friends and assumed that he wasn’t used to the ways of Korvosa just yet.
“pleased to meet you as well, Trevel Cornwall.” He made a small wave encompassing those he hadn’t met. “Ox to friends, I suppose we are all after the same sorry excuse of a man?”

Malin "Rags" Vosja |

Rags takes in the room as he enters. He quietly takes a chair in the corner of the room. He keeps an eye on the door as he waits. "Hello, I suppose you folks got an invitation as well?" Rags questions flashing his crows card for the others to see. As everyone trickles in Rags realizes that all of these folks were at the Baller's last night except the dwarf." My name is Rags, thats what people call me anyways." Rags fidgets uncomfortably trying to watch everyone and still watch the door.Has Lamm done dirt to all these people? Wouldn't surprise me none. The old dog certainly didn't care who he crossed. If they all want Lamm as bad as I do this may be a good day. Rags smiled till he realized he was grinning and quickly drew a stern gaze over his face. Before anyone saw him grinning and thought him a mere child.

Arius Pelgane |

First Night: For Ox and Branahm
“Ah, odd.” Ox was taken back a bit, he wasn’t used to the gods or fate or whatever it was poking their fingers in his life this much. That wasn’t to say he minded, simply not accustomed to “I hadn’t had a bit of a lead on where to find who framed me until last night, the fortune teller sent me a card and told me to meet her tomorrow night.”
Arius raises his eyebrows. "Odd indeed." He reaches into his cloak and draws out a brightly colored card, placing it on the table. It bears the image of an unchancy-looking elf laden with mysterious pouches. The elf proffers a necklace in one hand and reaches for payment with the other.
"The Foreign Trader. In Varisian folk divination practice, it signifies a trade of information, as deals made under its watch normally are true. Zallara has extended an invitation to us all, it seems. Which card did she send you?"
"Given Zallara's interest in you, I suspect that you're also not on the best terms with a man named Gaedren Lamm. Was he the man who framed you?"
"Perhaps we should combine forces and go there together tomorrow. I think that Zallara is probably honest, but if we run into trouble, we can back each other up."

Arius Pelgane |

Arius nods in response to the others' greetings and the offer of wine. "Thank you, but none for me until our hostess joins us. Pleased to meet you as well. I'm Arius Pelgane of Northgate."
“...I suppose we are all after the same sorry excuse of a man?”
"Like Ox, Gaedren Lamm is the reason that I'm here. I'm delighted that dear old Gaedren has so many other 'friends.'"
Arius takes out a brightly colored card that bears the image of an unchancy-looking elf laden with mysterious pouches. The elf proffers a necklace in one hand and reaches for payment with the other. "I assume that no one else received the Foreign Trader. For curiosity's sake, what card did our hostess send to each of you?"

Ox |

for Arius and Branhm
"The Foreign Trader. In Varisian folk divination practice, it signifies a trade of information, as deals made under its watch normally are true. Zallara has extended an invitation to us all, it seems. Which card did she send you?" ~~
Ox nods to the picture looking at it for a bit.” She sent me the…one with a dwarf on the front,” He draws his pouch looking around in it and shrugs. “Must have left it at the house, hope she doesn’t need it back. Well it had a dwarf with an anvil and he was hammering away. The forge! That’s it, that’s the one she sent me.”
~~"Given Zallara's interest in you, I suspect that you're also not on the best terms with a man named Gaedren Lamm. Was he the man who framed you?"~~
“I am on no terms with the man, apparently I was in the right spot at the wrong time, I was doing rounds and the bastard paid off a man to say I did it. And before the man could testfy that it wasn’t me and him instead, the man died or disappeared or who knows what. Long story short yes,” then as if he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. “And he will pay with his teeth and more, definitely more if he has your sister. And for the Smithy he murdered in my name. He had better have a lot of payment in his flesh, cause his debts are mounting.” He slammed his fist on the bar to punctuate his sentence. As if noticing finally that he was beginging to ramble he finished off his mug and then turned down a refill, It was time to order that bread and cheese to even him out, a quick order and another tip to a wench that was well fond of him now. “I wonder if it’ll just be the three of us then.”
~~"Perhaps we should combine forces and go there together tomorrow. I think that Zallara is probably honest, but if we run into trouble, we can back each other up." ~~
“That sounds reasonable to me, I would suspect that it could be a trap of Lamm’s, but if he could work magic like this fortune teller than he wouldn’t have need to frame anyone to get away with it.” He nodded to his own logic about the safety of the meeting and then accented agreement to Arius.” Always better safe then slain as they say.”
He takes stock of those in the room, breaking down what he could figure out from their outer characteristics to get a better guess at their back ground, it came naturally to a man that had the day to day task of figure out who did what to whom. Nodding his agreement to the assumption of the youngest of the group, he tries to place the young mans face and then decides that it is the look of the young man that he recognizes all to well and not quite the young man, hopefully anyway, he wondered a moment if he had run the young man through the rights before, and if so had he at least made it not memorable enough to mark. “Well met, Rags.” Noting his intent watch of the door makes his curiosity itch, and wonder at what he is expecting to walk through it.
Ox let out a burst of air threw his nose, recognizing the sarcasm that dripped from Arius' comment but he couldn't help but disdain the mention of being his friend.
“Well you already know mine Arius, but for the sake of the others I got the forge card." He offered casually, his impatience and the now nearly maddening fact that the young man still kept the majority of his attention on the door drove him to walk to it, open it and peer both ways looking for the wayward fortune teller.

Rumil |

Arius nods in response to the others' greetings and the offer of wine. "Thank you, but I'll wait until our hostess joins us. Like Ox, I'm pleased to meet you all; I hadn't realized that we would be such a large party. I'm Arius Pelgane of Northgate."
Arius takes out a brightly colored card that bears the image of an unchancy-looking elf laden with mysterious pouches. The elf proffers a necklace in one hand and reaches for payment with the other. "I assume that no one else received the Foreign Trader. For curiosity's sake, what card did our hostess send each of you?"

** spoiler omitted **
Rumil smiles and pulls out his card, then sips his wine before putting it down and standing. He bows slightly to Arius and hands his card to Arius.

Branahm |

Rumil smiles and pulls out his card, then sips his wine before putting it down and standing. He bows slightly to Arius and hands his card to Arius."Well Met Arius. The name is Rumil. I recieved the Avalanche card from our mysterious benefactor."
Branahm lays his card down on the table in front of his brother. It depicts a blind hag with an eye in it's mouth.
"I was gifted with the mute hag at the same time my brother received the trader. A card representing secrets and pacts, he tells me. "

Arius Pelgane |

Rumil smiles and pulls out his card, then sips his wine before putting it down and standing. He bows slightly to Arius and hands his card to Arius.
"Well Met Arius. The name is Rumil. I received the Avalanche card from our mysterious benefactor."
Arius smiles wryly. "The Crows, the Foreign Trader, the Forge, and the Avalanche. Many of us seem to be born under unlucky stars."
"Have you found out what your card signifies to a Harrow user? The Foreign Trader often denotes a trade of information, perhaps with unexpected consequences. Of course, I have no knowledge whether Zallara intends it as a comment on my past, my present, or my future."
For Ox and Branahm
Last night
Arius looks thoughtfully at Ox. "A forge, you say? I'm going to have to do some research on what these cards mean to their users."
Earlier today, after meeting to go to the appointment at Three Lancet Street
"Ox, I looked into what your card represents. The Forge denotes strength from diverse sources, or a disaster that can be overcome only through a joining of strengths from many places."

Ox |

for the usual suspects
A shrug of his shoulders, “well to me the invitation was more important than what it was on, but I guess it would help to know what this Zallara thinks of me.” He eventually rented a room and talked the owner into giving him a reduced price for the amount he paid the man in ale and mead, that night. He spoke to the brothers and decided to make the early meeting a trio. After a long night he knew Arius well and vise versa, and Branahm as well. He was all the more furious with Lamm after hearing their grievances with Lamm. It was all the more reason to see this one through to its end.

Branahm |

Branahm lays his card down on the table in front of his brother. It depicts a blind hag with an eye in it's mouth. He speaks towards the group, since Arius already knows what he is to say:
"I was gifted with the mute hag at the same time my brother received the trader. A card representing secrets and pacts, he tells me. "

The 'Cap |

Feel free to keep discussing the meaning of the cards as well. (as you did with the bailer's discusssion)
After you finish introductions and talking about the cards, an attractive middle-aged Varisian woman with long dark hair walks into the store and sits at the head of the table. She nods for all assembled to sit in the chairs offered and wait before beginning. While waiting she takes a Harrow deck from her pocket, Shuffling the cards with more and more urgency and skill until all are sitting down. Once you are all sitting she finally speaks: "Thank you for coming, my friends, and for putting up with my unconventional method of contacting you. I have reason to remain hidden, you see—a terrible man would see great harm
done to me if he knew I was reaching out for help. This is a man you know, for he has done something terrible to each of you as well. I speak, of course, of Gaedren Lamm, a man whose cruelty and capacity to destroy the lives of those he touches are matched only by his gift for avoiding reprisal. You see, a year ago, his thieves stole this, my Harrow deck, from me. It is important to me, an heirloom passed down through a dozen generations, and also my sole means of support. When pickpockets stole it, my son, Eran, tracked them down. The thieves were in the employ of the old petty crime lord Gaedren Lamm, and in reward for finding them, Gaedren murdered my son. “I sought help from the Guard, but they turned me away. And so I asked around. I paid bribes. I consulted my Harrow deck for advice. And recently, I was rewarded—I found out where Gaedren dwells. He can be found in an old fishery north of here at Westpier 17, where he trains his abducted children to be pickpockets and counts his stolen treasures.
“And now, I need your help. I cannot hope to face this man on my own, and the Guard moves so slowly that if I were to go to them, Gaedren would certainly know of their coming well in advance. Even if they did arrest him—what guarantee would I have he would be punished? This criminal has evaded the law for decades. But you know of these frustrations as well, for word on the street has it that Gaedren has wronged each of you, too: either personally, through your families, or through your communities. So there we are. I say that it is time for him to pay. What say you?”

Speaks cautiously "I don't know why I am here 100%... I just know I received a message to come here with a card." Placing the card down, showing the Paladin card. "Its nice to meet you all though, I am a disciple of balance..." begins preaching.
Hearing a dwarf speak about balance makes Anju chuckle on the inside. Her race never cared for the dwarves and she heard stories about their ruthless destruction of nature from the members of her circle. "Although I could never bring myself to trust a dwarf, at least Guarn seems to be trying...maybe a little too hard even." Anju thinks to herself.
Anju walks over to the crowd and bows to the group of men in front of her, placing her card on the table
"I received The Tangled Briar card. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of such things but it seems fitting for my background."

"I received The Tangled Briar card. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of such things but it seems fitting for my background."
Arius responds, "Quite. You are from the Mierani Woods, then, Lady...?" He waits for her response, clearly unsure of her name and status.
For Branahm and anyone else who makes a Deception/a.k.a. Sense Motive DC 10:
Arius seems both relieved and slightly nervous for some reason. You suspect that he disagrees with the philosophy of balance that Guarn was expounding, but didn't want to be the one who changed the topic of conversation.
For the elves, plus anyone else who made the check:
Arius seems slightly nervous. It's probably just the effects of elvish inhuman beauty on a human, a phenomenon that Rumil and Anju must have seen many times.

"I am. My name is Anju. I'm a druid of Mierani Woods."

Anju gets up from her seat
"I'll do whatever it takes to bring this man to justice."
Malin "Rags" Vosja |

Rags seems a little unsure of the elven lady and her view of dwarves. He pays close attention to the words of Madame Zallara. "You have my support Madame."Rags looks to those surrounding the table."I was kidnapped by Lamm a few months after my mother died. I was punished for years beat and abused by this man. Ultimately left for dead, but I lived and I will have my vengeance on Lamm." Rags has an edge to his voice that was not there before. He takes a breath " Perhaps you could explain to me what this has to do with all this Madame?" Rags pulls out the ledger and presents it to Zallara.

Branahm |

Branahm rises from his seat. "Years ago, when my sister was stolen from our family, my brother and I swore we would find her. Now, we have a chance to either find her, or at least bring her justice. I am in. For far too long, Lamm has preyed on the defenseless, and I think it is high time for the hammer of justice to crush him. "

Arius Pelgane |

Arius Pelgane |

For All: Before Zallara's Entrance
"I am. My name is Anju. I'm a druid of Mierani Woods."
"Lamm's reach is farther than I thought if it has brought you here from the distant Mierani woods."
"By the way, I prepared for our meeting today by talking to a very helpful Varisian cartomancer. While we're waiting for our hostess, I can let you know what the accepted meaning of the cards are, if you're interested." Arius pulls a scroll tube out of his pack, and from it, he takes out a sheet of parchment covered with notes in minute handwriting.
"The Tangled Briar: A person or object from long ago who was lost or murdered, but will somehow have great influence. An ill-omened card, like most of the others, though sometimes the loss brings hope."
"The Paladin: Standing strong in the face of adversity, despite its heavy cost, sometimes necessarily and sometimes to the point of foolhardiness."
"The Mute Hag: Blood pacts and wicked secrets that turn friends or brothers against each other, but sometimes meaning great loyalty."
"The Avalanche: A disaster, whether physical or political, that sometimes may be averted."
"The Forge: Strength through diversity, often meaning danger that can only be overcome through drawing on many sources of strength."
"The Crows: A shocking, violent loss of something loved, but sometimes indicating an avoidable or justly merited loss."
"The woman that I talked to said that the individual cards can really only speak as part of a Harrowing, but wasn't willing to explain how to do a reading. I guess that her tolerance for a nosy magician only went so far, though she was much more patient than I would have expected."
"I'm not sure whether the cards are part of an incomplete reading or just commentary on our situations, but I'd be interested in your opinions."

![]() |

Arius says, "I too want to bring Lamm to justice. What exactly are you proposing, Madame Zallara?" He looks at her appraisingly.
"Well, Arius Pelgane, I was hoping that you could do what I cannot. I can not hope to defeat Lamm, and have no gifts usable in violent situations. My gifts lie in gathering information, and thats what I have have done. I have found Lamm's current hideout, and found a group of you that I believe can bring him to justice and avenge my son. That is what I hope and ask of you- to bring the crooked old man down" She stands as she says this, clenching a fist. Then she realizes that she is caught up in her narration and sits again.
"If you agree to this task, I will perform a group Harrow Reading for you as payment before you go. unfortunately I spent all I had bribing and coercing the right people to give me Lamm's hideout, so I cannot provide monetary support. That is why I chose you all - people who have your own reason to hunt him down!"

" Perhaps you could explain to me what this has to do with all this Madame?" Rags pulls out the ledger and presents it to Zallara.
"You will need to find the missing pages to answer that question.. the cards told me that the they corresponded to you're missing history"
I'm changing the avatar of this account to Zallara

Ox |

Ox stood silent for a long time finally coming away from the door and leaning on a nearby wall. He was content to see how the group meshed if they would all even work together to find this man, it seemed as if they might. When the dwarf began to preach he was glad to see they had yet another healer on their side. He had decided that if they were all together on it then they should have little trouble. He took a seat at the table once more at their hostess’s request.
Upon hearing that Zallera had already went to the guard about the man , he sighed for the first time realizing that the guard might not be the place for him, he knew that the field master did the best she could with the guard, but they were still Korvosa blood and could be paid to look away. “M’lady I apologize that the guard failed you, that it failed all of you in fact. But I swear to you that, I will bring this man to rights, whether all or none of you come, I will go. Thank you for taking the time to bring us together.” He then looked to the others. “Shall we leave tonight? After the reading of course.”

Arius Pelgane |

"Well, Arius Pelgane, I was hoping that you could do what I cannot...That is why I chose you all - people who have your own reason to hunt him down!"
Arius says, "My brother and I have been trying to pin down Lamm ever since we linked him to our sister's abduction. If you'll give us the location of Lamm's hideout, I promise that I'll do whatever I can to bring him to justice for his many crimes and to free the children that he's enslaved."
"I understand that we can't just rely on the Guard to make things right, and I know that I don't speak for us all. But I want to be clear that as far as I'm concerned, 'justice' won't be us knocking Lamm out and slitting his throat. I'm not an assassin, and even if I were, Branahm and I need the old wretch alive for his information about our sister."
"If you think that a fair bargain, I'm ready for our reading."

The 'Cap |

Zallara skillfully shuffles and deals out the harrow set. She mumbles as she does this and her eyes glaze over. She flips over the cards pertaining to the past (the vision, the crows, and the wanderer) She looks at Rags and points to the Crows
"Your past is unclear even to you.some of what you know may be wrong - find the missing pages"
She turns the cards for the present (The WaxWorks, the Hidden Truth, and The Locksmith)
"nothing strong coming through for the present. The Locksmith tells about new doors currently opening for you. I hope that is talking about finding Lamm but I'm not sure"
Lastly she turns over the 3 cards talking about the future (The theatre, the liar, and the owl)
"The Liar tells me of a doomed love, but none of yours someone one of you knows and the rest will meet relatively soon I think, The Thearte tells me that you will fulfill prophesy and bring back a local legend"
She shakes her head as if to clear it and her eyes return to normal.

Malin "Rags" Vosja |

Rags looks a little worried about seeing his card pop up in the reading. He also listens intently to Zallara as she tells him to find the pages. Great just find some missing pages, and that will explain everything! Wonderful I mean how hard could that be right. ha!"I am in of course. I cannot guarantee the safety of Lamm. I have no problem with you fellas trying to get your answers I will even do what I can to help, but I have no intention of letting Lamm go to the guards or the courts! I don't know how far his influence reaches, but I know he has greased to many palms not to ensure he won't slip through the cracks if we hand him over. No, I'm sorry we settle this thing and we see it through he must not be granted any mercy. No kindness for old man Lamm! I won't see another child harmed by his hand. I have lived through that hell and would not see it visited on anyone else. I am sure your sister would agree."He looks at the brothers and then at the rest of the people in the room. " Now I know a few things that may help us, but I need to know we are on the same page. savvy? Rags pauses waiting for reactions.

...I have no intention of letting Lamm go to the guards or the courts! ...No, I'm sorry we settle this thing and we see it through he must not be granted any mercy. No kindness for old man Lamm!...Now I know a few things that may help us, but I need to know we are on the same page. savvy? Rags pauses waiting for reactions.
Arius responds, "I haven't the slightest intention of letting Gaedren Lamm off the hook. As far as I can tell, he's the kind of person who views mercy as another opportunity to con a sucker.
"I think that his knowledge could go a long way toward identifying those he's harmed and how to help them, which to me is as important as punishing him. But we can discuss our prima facie duties some other time if you care to. Setting moral considerations aside for the sake of argument, I have no desire to be hanged for murder. Unlike Gaedren, I don't have contacts to help me slime my ways out of punishment for crimes.
"Even if we disagree about what exactly constitutes justice for Lamm's crimes, we still have to get Lamm before we can hold him accountable. We have a lot better chance of doing that working together than if you or I go off by ourselves, get killed attacking him, and alert him that someone's found his hideout.
"If you're satisfied with that--at least for now--I'd like to know the importance of the mysterious ledger that you're carrying, plus anything else that you can tell us that might help us get Lamm."

Zallara skillfully shuffles and deals out the harrow set. She mumbles as she does this and her eyes glaze over...
She shakes her head as if to clear it and her eyes return to normal.
Arius intently watches the reading, focusing on Zallara's technique for the Harrowing.
