Fighter Skill: Warcraft

Skills & Feats

Or call it Knowledge (martial).

What I really would like to see is a skill, that turnes the fighter into a highly valuable battlefield-commander.
The most obvious application that comes to my mind would be identifying possible ambush positions and warning your allies would grant a bonus to initiative and allow a will save to prevent being flat footed.

I'm sure there are dozens of other things you could do with such a skill.

Makes sense to me. You could also have feats that allow you to use this skill like Bardic Music to buff you're party and such. I gave an NPC I made today a skill called Knowledge (tactics) which I haven't fully defined yet. It could in fact be this skill.

Liberty's Edge

This is covered by knowledge: History, which I admit never made much sense to me, and ought to be called something else.

They've got some references to it in Heroes of Battle.

Knowledge (tactics) existed in 3.0 and exists in d20 Modern. Its uses sort of got subsumed into Knowledge (history), but fighters still don't have that as a class skill. Nor do any of the core fighter type classes.

Martial Lore (from Book of Nine Swords) is essentially the Spellcraft skill for physical fighters. I like the name as Warcraft though. Catchy.
