Turning Smite - what's the point?

Liberty's Edge

I realize being able to combine to standard actions into one is nice, but it seems like the change from area-effect to single-target makes it a poor choice more often than not, especially since there's the healing benefit for allies that typically accompanies its use against enemies.

I'd suggest that the smite also disallows the resistance save, meaning that the target will take the full force of the smite, no matter what.

I believe the turn works as normal, ie. heals the living and effects all the undead within line of effect rules, the point being you get the 2 actions as one (so's you're not just holding your wanker-like holy symbol up in the middle of combat, and giving clerics who favor battle related dieties a front line presence) I could be wrong, but as you said if so, what's the point?

Shisumo, I don't have the rules in front of me... The way I read it the first time was that if the smite attack hit, then there was no resistance roll. This would be very helpful against undead that require too high of a traditional turning roll for clerics to affect (like boss undead), AND gives clerics a handy feat to take.
