If Paizo offered a 12 mini iconic set

I would snap it up in a heartbeat.

Just sayin'...

I second that motion. But it's unlikely, especially seen as they havent even released the models individually.

I have not purchased metal minis for years and if they came out in a set i think i would buy them too

I would too, but since the 12th iconic is like a year or two away as far as minis go, I don't think I'd wait that long.

Same here, but I would buy an extra Kyra, and no Seoni. As a subtle hint.

Bah! Seoni all the way. :P

Fine, more Seonis for the rest of us. Stupid, silly cheesecake has its place, right alongside the pointlessly overmuscled beefcake.

Another guaranteed preorder for the box set here.

Nah, I'd just get my father to paint my minis for me, like I did when I was a teenager =)

He is an awesome mini painter and 100x better than me. I would only be getting 2 or 3 minis from each "wave" anyway, so I would just hit him up to do it.

EDIT: But I think that if Paizo does intend to do this (which by the way is an awesome idea) that they should announce it soon, before everyone starts to buy the singular Iconics. Nothing worse than buying 2 or 3 and THEN having them announce that they are doing a set.

We'd love for prepaints to happen, but we don't imagine it's going to be economically feasible anytime soon.

Actually, the hint was that Kyra is very underused in comparison to Seoni... and that most of the pictures I've seen her in are either a) from the back or b) VERY unflattering (as in Mialee unflattering).

Three have been made and seven announced. We are getting closer the day when one will be able to buy all twelve iconics. Yay!

I must have missed the announcement. I'd certainly be keen to pick up the iconic set, individually or as a group.

I suspect we will come up with some kind of package deal when they are all available.

Vic, I want to respond to what you said about the prepainted figures. What if you set them up like you did for the T-shirts and once you get a minimum of orders, they could get made and shipped. No extra stock laying around.

Although personally I love painting minis so I want unpainted

That would have to be a heck of a lot of pre-orders - From what I've heard the original molds for plastic figures that small are like 600+ a piece for OK ones. Then the painters cost... and everyone complains if they don't get good paint jobs...

I think the price point and/or number of minimum orders would be very high

Yep. We're constantly keeping an ear to the ground for new developments in prepainted plastics, but we have yet to find anything that wouldn't require us to sell at least ten times as many minis as we think we can actually sell.

now if you could get reaper to make an iconics set of their prepainted line.... that might be more doable :)

I dunno about that... Reaper hasn't released any new preprinted plastic minis since the end of May, and there are currently none announced for the future.

In the meantime, they've been putting out a lot of unpainted metal, and have announced a new low-cost lead-based minis line.

These signs indicate to me that perhaps they didn't find prepaints as viable as we'd all hoped.

www.wowminis.com has some nice looking prepainted minis. No clue about how much they will cost though.

Sovereign Court

Pre-painted all the way I say. Don't underestimate the savings possible through the power of our Chinese brothers! (get 'em done cheap while we can, before the druids cast Awaken on the growing Chinese middle-class...)

They're working on wave three right now. They can't say when it will come yet, but it will come. That's the set with gnolls, the succubus and the marilith!

Most of the stuff is probably already produced in China. As far as I know, the problem's not labour costs, but rather huge setup costs for the molds.

I don't mind pre-painted for monsters etc....but for characters I prefer to paint my own. I may not be the world best painter, but I am better than any of the pre-painted stuff I have seen, and quite enjoy it.

When I mentioned the 12 iconics possibility, my husband jumped up and down "me too! me too". So if it happens you can put me down for two sets :)

You don't let your husband play with your dolls?

Prepainted monsters are good, as are metal heroes. But don't forget about NPTs! Plastic works quite well here.

Silver Crusade

Giants & ogres pre-painted or resin to defer costs vs metal but I'm a metal fan. Something about a metal mini vs a plastic one. Thou as long as they are produced I'll continue to get Pathfinder minis. Thou I'm not sure about a iconic set thou. I like the iconics (as I think Seoni is probably the best Pf mini so far & Valeros in 2nd), but I'd rather see minis for things you just can't easily replicate with other minis.

I agree 110% with this. While I love the iconics and think they make great minis, no one in my group is playing any of the iconics, nor are they playing anyone even similar. As a GM, having access to Golarion specific monsters/NPCs that do make appearances in the adventures would be invaluable. I've used the goblin minis a ton, and not just for Burnt Offerings and look forward to doing the same with the reimagined ogres once I can afford them.

As long as they were pre-assembled and pre-painting I would snap them up.

Agree with the sentiment entirely too - there are some very Golarion specific NPCs & creatures that would make excellent miniatures, and for all those calling only for pre-painted minis - the Pathfinder miniatures are truely excellent sculpts; fantastic detail and look great unpainted [My poor Dex means my Craft: Miniatures skills is limited at best] :)

Part of me [the retro-80's roleplayer] would love to see miniature box sets make a comeback and maybe the iconics would be a start... likewise AP themed box sets/offers might also be a winner - but how commercially viable they are I don't know. Put em out as singles - people want a box set... put em out as a box set, people will want them in singles.

I just want a nicely painted Seoni to stare...uh collect.

What "Golarion-specific" NPCs or monsters would you guys like to see produced?

Erik Mona wrote:

The 12 iconics

Everything! ;)-

Seriously though.

BBEGs, Sub-Bosses and Major NPCs would be the main ones I would like to see, along with the Iconics. Similar to what you have already done.

Possibly boxed packages of things such as:
Goblins
Kobolds
Orcs
Hobgoblins

and then blisters:
Bugbears
Trolls
Minotaurs.

Financially speaking though, products like these may only be viable if they were done as pre-painted minis, because the cost of buying them all as metal unpainted minis would break most people's budgets if they are already getting the APs, Modules, Chronicles, etc...

Just off the top of my head, I'd like to see NPCs like Mokmurian, Merlokrep, Ileosa, Clegg Zincher, Blackjack, some Shoanti, Cressida Kroft, Sable Company Marines, Eando Kline or other Pathfinders, the heralds of the Gods, just about any of the drow from the covers/interior of Second Darkness, etc.

Monsters I'd like are Rune Giant, Sandpoint Devil, Gug, reefclaw, bunyip, some of the cool new monsters from the Darklands, etc.

Inevitably, though, whatever you do get made, there will always be more that I'd like. I love that you're asking though!

This is how are group does things as well. Not to mention I love modding and sculpting more than painting, it must be my own! It also helps keep confusion down to a minimum when the DM has to use normal townfolk/thug bandit type miniatures.

As for being better, I have found myself bringing a few of my plastic monsters paint jobs up to "acceptable" in the past as well. :)

It should be the same size of DDM.

Pre-painted.

Not metal, that time has passed for me.

Monsters! Monsters! Monsters!

I'd probably buy a good number of Golarion goblins, I love 'em so much more than regular goblins. So cute!

I like Golarion goblins a lot too, but would buy them only if made of plastic... if minis are going to stay metal I'll buy only monsters I can't find on DDM...

After looking at today's blog....a banshee.

I don't really have any interest in pre-painted plastic unless it's pretty cheap and I'd use it until I had time to paint my metal minis.

Metal all the way.

I'm not sure how viable it would be for your purposes, but you might look at Rackham's AT-43 game if you're looking for ideas on pre-painted minis. Their stuff is probably more mass-produced than what you'd be looking for, but it's just food for thought and they have done a very, very good job. Whatever you do, please, don't make your miniatures randomized! None of this booster pack nonsense! If I want a bucket of orcs, I expect a bucket of orcs!

Silver Crusade

Erik Mona wrote:

More or less the creatures in the Pathfinder. The goblins are nice but I can easily mixed them with a set from Reaper, other then the football head, they look about the same to me (of course I've gotta give the nod to the Reaper ones, as they are done by one of my favorite sculptor thou, ha ha.)

NPCs that are important to the adventure. Just something about putting down what the NPC actually looks like, just helps describe that person.

Rune Giants.

Wouldn't mind seeing a citizens of Sandpoint set sometime as well (like Hemlock, Ameikio, Father Zanthus, etc etc.)

Ahh, but looking at the wizards latest announcement, Plastic and Metal are going to cost just about the same (3.50 per mini, random - verses 5.99 for some reaper minis). Only one mini per pack is going to be non-random in the new WOTC packs, so you most likely be paying more than 3.50 for the prepainted plastic, and thats for the cheapest of minis. And I'm sure they have a larger order number than any paizo order (at least until this August)

Reefclaw, some Shoanti, gnomes

I'm not particular about metal or plastic. I like both just fine.

Pathfinders

Eagle Knights
Hellknights
Red Mantis Assassins
Fleshwarped creatures

Pirates!

I'll say any monster that is truly unique looking, and cannot be easily substituted. Reefclaws, Tentemort, Goblin Snake, Sandpoint Devil, Attic whisperer, Sinspawn, Slurk, Swamp barracuda, Hound of Tindalos, Leukodaemon,Red Reaver. Also I wouldn't mind a mini of someone doing a Harrow reading, with cards spread out in front of them on the table

Monsters?

Golarion ogres
The Sandpoint Devil
Denizens of Leng
Hounds of Tindalos
Wendigo
Reefclaws
Runegiants (probably too spendy)
