Tristan Lidu Has recently achieved enough affiliation points to become a black dagger in the Witchwardens. Unfortunately I see no description of the daggers anywhere. I'm curious to hear what role (if any) affiliations have played in your STAP campaign, and what players and DMs alike have done with them.

Please remember if you have spoilers to use the proper BBCode

Spoiler:

If your story touches on the plot of the savage tide in anyway.

All the info for the Savage Tide Affiliations is in the Dragon magazine (#348 IIRC) that came out in the same month as Dungeon 139.

Here are the details you are looking for.

Spoiler:

Black Dagger: 10% discount on experience point costs when crafting a magic item made with arcane magic. Requisition one potion or scroll containing an arcane spell valued at 1,000 gp or less per month.

Cheers!

Oops, my bad, I subscribed to both Dungeon and Dragon magazines so I already had all this information, but what I'm getting at is what are the daggers themselves like? What do they look like? Are they magical? Do people in Sasserine know them on sight?

And what about the other affiliations? Has anyone else become lord/lady of Sasserine? Joined the Scarlet Brotherhood? How have these affiliations changed the campaign?

This is the sort of thing I'm interested in. The nitty-gritty of using this information in the game. These are things that I can't find in the magazines, information from people's campaigns, and information on how these things were implemented in other people's campaigns. Thank you for your reply though Hired Sword, and you are correct it was dragon 348, but do you have any stories to share? If you do I'd love to hear them. :)

Ive been pushing my player's to join an affiliation. So far none of them seem particularly interested. Its driving me bonkers but we still have some time before the campaign begins so Im not to worried yet.

I am afraid that my players, all but one, have little interest in roleplaying more than just enough to get into the affiliations. Most didn't think that Affiliations would add anything to the game. I had only one that seemed eager to join the whirling fury. He even took his Olman Barbarian one step further and becoming a Champion of Gwynharwyf.

So, I am sorry to say that I have little to offer in the way of experiences. I am hoping that some of the good folk of Farshore will inspire them to take the Affiliations more seriously.

Cheers!

Because of the short time in Sasserine (2 adventures in 12), the affiliations have not been that significant. One exception is the Emerald Crest as they have contact throughout the known sailing world. It has helped in other areas and recruiting sailors, but not much else.

All of my players did choose an affiliation.

With spells like 'word of recall' and 'teleport' our group has spent quite a bit of time in Sasserine. While I do agree that some of the affiliations don't have much influence outside of Sasserine, I think at least two, the scarlet brotherhood and the dawn council, have contacts on or near the isle of dread.

Besides, I'd think, those with strong ties to the city would want Recognition for their adventures there.
