Rob,
A bit of housekeeping for Liet:
1) I noticed Radavel had Liet with a free Martial Weapon Proficiency (firearms?) indicated in his profile. I opted to go with Martial Weapon Proficiency (scimitar) instead. It seemed more in keeping with Iskandrian culture, unless firearms actually ARE available...in which case, I suppose a cloistered cleric of the god-kings might actually carry such a thing. But let me know your thoughts.
2) Does Liet receive a free Martial Weapon Proficiency in the favored weapon of the god-kings? And if so, what would that favored weapon be?
3) I'd like to swap out Liet's Improved Initiative feat for Scribe Scroll. I just think that's more in keeping with what a cloistered cleric would have. I don't see Liet improving his initiative through his studies. But, learning to scribe scrolls would seem right up his alley.
4) I added a bit more gear for Liet (e.g., a light wooden shield to improve his AC by 1, a sling so he'll have a ranged weapon, a dagger for a backup weapon, etc.). I couldn't tell how much treasure the party may have split and whether or not Liet received any, but I assumed these were relatively small items he could have procured before leaving the city behind. I copied the rest of his gear as-written in Liet's original profile.
5) I advanced Liet to 2nd level as we discussed. I rolled his new hit points at home and it came up a 4 on a d6. If you'd prefer I use Invisible Castle or something let me know.
6) I advanced a few of Liet's skills for leveling up. By my count, he receives 9 skill points per level as a cloistered cleric (6 base, +2 Int, +1 racial bonus). As completely new skills, he's picked up Craft (drawing), Heal, Knowledge (nature), Profession (scribe), and Sense Motive. The other points went into raising his Diplomacy, Spellcraft, and some of his current Knowledge skills. I also noticed his rank in Linguistics should have provided an additional language, so I added Ancient Iskandrian. If there are any other languages you feel would be more pertinent for a cloistered cleric to have studied, let me know.
7) Liet now has new spell-like abilities for bless, comprehend languages, and divine favor courtesy of his three domains.
8) I prepared a different spell list for the jungle excursion. Anticipating the oppressive heat, Liet is traveling in comfort with endure elements which he'll be casting on himself each day. He's also picked up sanctuary to replace the bless he can now cast with his spell-like ability. Those choices seemed more fitting for how Liet's been portrayed so far in the overall story.
9) The character stats are good to go now. I'll eventually tweak and round-out the sections in his profile for his background, personality, and physical appearance. I also want to update his tactics section in case you need to NPC him. But for now, I'm going to go ahead and jump into the game thread and try to keep the posts going.
10) Let me know if there's anything I've overlooked and thanks for the opportunity to join the game.

Rob,
A bit of housekeeping for Liet:
[spoiler omitted]
1) Fine
2) Favored weapon for the god-kings is the scepter or mace, so no free proficiency there.3) Also fine
4) I don't remember the money either, but that sounds fine. And you should get some more money soon!
5) That's fine for the hp for now, but we normally use invisible castle for in-game rolls.
6) Fine too
7) Wow! That's a lot of SLAs!
8) Perfectly fine
9) Great!
10) I don't have time to do a thorough read-through right now, but I'll do so soon and let you know here if there any questions or concerns.
Welcome to the game! :)

Welcome to the game! :)
Thanks for having me.
Also, I found one more item to correct in Liet's profile. Apparently, Radavel had given him +6 hp as a racial bonus for being human. I noticed none of the other PCs have a racial hit point bonus, so I've removed that from Liet.
Let me know if you find anything else.

Good to have you with us Neil! It will be nice to have an actual cleric again.
Clerics have always been one of my favorite classes to play. Hopefully, I'm not totally overhauling Liet in a negative way, though. I'm just injecting a bit more philosophy into him, perhaps. Let me know if his verbosity is too jarring from how's he come across in the past. I want to stay true to the character as much as I can.
Did we have to get another one who is going to get the nice "Contributor" tag on his name????? :-D
Meh. It's just bling. "RPG Superstar" and "Contributor" tags don't mean I'm any different than anyone else. Just lucky and blessed, that's all.

Not at all - by all means, make him your own! It already feels like a breath of fresh air to the game! :)

Thanks Rob! I have to admit Bedu is Classic, I love the speech about his mother's pies!
"The problem is my mother. You see."
Bedu shakes his head as he talks and pats down his pockets until he finds the amulet.
"My mother raised all her sons to be careful in business and make sure that you always get fair value for your work. Plus I am a dwarf and we value gold just below family and honour, unlike Tanish here. As to your threats they mean little to me I am a licensed magi and am free to work in the city. I am prepared to face a court and show my papers if need be."
Then the dwarf palms out the amulet and drops it on the floor. Putting one heavy heel on the amulet.
"My mother also was a very fine cook. Her pies were too good to be true. You can see I have eaten many of them. Unfortunately it means I am not very graceful and some would even say fat, though not to my face."
Bedu leans a little forwards and nods to all his companions, "Now I am owed 200 ranis, that is a lot of pies. Either pay me now, which I am sure you can, Tanish, you lying son of a motherless goat or no door will ever be opened. One more step from your goons and you can have your amulet............in pieces. Now where is my gold! "
BEST EVER!!!

Some characters are easier to come up with this stuff, that's one reason why I wanted to play in Iskandria. Truthfully I roleplay just about every game, including military wargaming. Drives my mates nuts. Sometimes.
As for this game, it seems re-energised now and I cannot wait to meet Tanish again, one day.
Good stuff everyone! High five.

Hey folks, sorry for slowing down on the updates lately. Unfortunately, I'll have to put the game on hold, since I'm leaving on Wednesday for Paizocon and the US. I'm visiting family after the con and I won't have my game stuff with me, so no new updates until I get back around the 21st.
So hang tight, figure out a way to get down or across the canyon, and I'll start 'er back up again when I get back home!

Have fun at Paizocon! I'll be leaving on vacation from the 23rd till the 7th of July. I have no idea what kind of internet I'll be having... We'll be at a camping which will have internet... or not. And I don't know yet if I'm going to bring my laptop.

I have Liet listed as having 2,595 XPs so far. We've faced a tatzlwyrm and some spiders since then. If we're doing fast advancement (recommended for PbP games) via Pathfinder Beta, we'd reach 3rd at 3,300 XPs. If we're doing medium advancement it'll take until 5,000 XPs. Regardless, I don't think we're all that close yet, unless Rob's just being extra-generous with the story XP.

Well, Rob, Larcifer, and I were having an interesting discussion about PbP games last night at the Meet-and-Eat. Specifically, about how the importance of the story is elevated over the mechanics of the game. You can't just dungeon-crawl everything in PbP or the game moves too slowly to ever see very many level-ups. So, who knows?
Goes back to his cherished fantasy...

Rob, can I start using my own dice. This is the only game I have to use IC in and I find it a pain. If not so be it but you just need to check my PC in the Age of Darkness to see that I don't fudge dice. She has been consistently bad since Christmas.
Cheers
P.S. Larry my email address is frenchwolf17@yahoo.com if you want a chat. I've been where you are at, and have the grey hairs to prove it, but we got lucky in the end.
