I just discovered an old British television series from the 80's called Robin of Sherwood.
I missed the boat on this one, but my wife is native born British (she moved over about 9 years ago when we got married).
She was telling me about it, and I found the DVD series on Netflix. It combines classic Robin Hood with some celtic magic and mysticism. It's really quite fun. I like how they dealt with the Robin and Marion romance quick quickly and efficiently (rather than little it drag out and eclipse eveything else). You get a good share of the other characters, like Little John, Will Scarlet, Friar Tuck, etc...
If you have Netflix, this is worth checking out.. I won't lie and say it isn't dated, but I find it rather enduring anyway..
My wife also tells me that this is where Enya got her start with Clannad, who does the music.

I remember this lovingly. Much better than the preachy incarnation on BBCA now. (Not that I don't like the scenery chewing Sherrif, I just found he was right in that Robin was responsible for what happens because he wouldn't kill the Sherrif.)
I also liked the transition from Robin of the Hood to Robert of Huntington.
And Judi Trott was easy on the eyes.
The one I remember the most though is when the Sherrif was exiled into Sherwood and our band of heroes found him.
Little John: Look who we have here! The Sherrif of Nottingham!
Robin: The former Sherrif of Nottingham.
Will Scarlett: The Dead Sherrif of Nottingham.

Oh yeah! That one brings back fond memories of the olden days... I recall watching it in german TV back in the 80ies. It brings a smile to my face - that is what they call golden memories :-)
I even got the soundtrack somewhere on a LP record - mind you, one of those big, black things with a track on it...

I loved those shows. My favorite bit was when King Richard returns.

Theme song was by Clannad if it's of interest.
Great band 8-)
Yes I have Legend (The Robin Hood soundtrack) Anam and Bambra.
Off topic, Clannad means family I guess, and Enya's the a daughter in the band. Last of the Mohican's "I will find you" is Clannad as well, and I think it's Anam that has the extended version.
