”got it” Spider comments quietly after hearing Magatha response. He continues on in an attempt to box in whatever it is if combat ensues.

Sorry. Work got really hectic.

During the long trip down the well-shaft, and the short walk to this first corner, Orelan has seemed distracted. Head down, whistling tunelessly under his breath, and moving slowly with the group.

Now, as the group first sees signs of life in the lair of the mad mage, Orelan returns to himself; finds focus. His head comes up and he flashes Artemis a grin.

Orelan unlimbers his shortbow, holding the bow and a first arrow lightly in the same hand. To Artemis, softly, "Well! Do you think they'll be friendly?"

Quick check: Magatha on point and lit up, with Spider moving to the left down the hall, Brenon in the middle, then Orelan, finally Artemis. Is that right?

"I would think not, given the difficulty in getting down and up from this place."

Artemis follows closely behind Orelan, alert for anything coming from the rear.

Yep, that's correct!

Female Human Fighter

Taking a quick glance over her shoulder to confirm the others are right with her, Magatha opens to door and prepares for a fight.

Liberty's Edge

When you get up to where you saw the movement you see no door, no door knob or anything resembling a door.

Male Human Favoured Soul 1

"Magatha please, if we stop every five seconds so you can play with rocks this will be a very long trip!"

Female Human Fighter

"I know what I saw, Jinx. Artemis? Could you take a look at this wall? I have a feeling there may be a hidden door there."

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

Hearing Magatha statement, Spider waits a moment to see if the others will take her seriously. Then he’ll see what he can find himself.

[Elvish]”Diligence usually brings its own reward”[/Elvish] Spiders says, repeating what his mentor once told him. Of course it doesn't dawn on him at the moment that he had spoken in Elvish as he was simply repeaating what his mentor had said. “Taking 20” even if the others wish to move on.

Search = 26, plus “Aid Another” bonuses (not factored in) since were working together?

Male Human Rogue/2 Paladin/2
Magatha Aegisdotir wrote:

Artemis walks up to Magatha and has a look at the wall.

"Well I definately heard something, so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. You know, criminals have been known to hide behind these things to avoid detection, so I made a point of at least getting a bit of practice in. Of course the only time I ever got to use it before was when Old Jensen Miller accidently locked himself in his secret moonshine still and fell asleep. Noone could find him 'til I spotted the secret door."
Search for the Secret Door? (1d20+2=4)
Well that was dismal wasn't it =(

Liberty's Edge

After a bit of looking the Spider notices an outline of what could be door. Its very faint and anyone looking close might miss it. You see no visible sign of a way to open it however.

"Well spotted Spider! Artemis, now that we know where to look, do you have any clue how to open this door?"

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

[Elvish]”Thanks”[/Elvish] Spider replies and gives a return nod to Orelan. Then he gives a curious look at Artemis and wonders if he is a wizard of sorts that might be capable of opening the door.

After a moment or two he says ”well, there must be a release mechanism of sorts, perhaps a jutting stone or loose rock maybe? Here, press and pull against portions of the wall and maybe we’ll get lucky” he says as he begins a search anew.

Taking 20, Search=26, plus bonuses from others Aid Another

"Young Spider is correct. There is usually a catch or button located somewhere near the door."

Artemis joins Spider in searching around the door.
Search check to Aid Spider in finding the latch for the Secret Door. (1d20+2=12)

Liberty's Edge

After a very long search you finally find a button located near the floor. Its very small, about the size of a pin. You only found it because of the well worn area around it compared to the rest of the dusty door.

Male Human Favoured Soul 1

'spose we better open it and go in huh?

Brenon approaches the door and reaches for the button with a final glance at his friends... "Ready?"

Male Human Rogue/2 Paladin/2
Brenon 'jinx' Corto wrote:
"Ready?"

Artemis grips his Quarterstaff tightly and assumes a battle pose, standing in front of Orelan to protect him, but not in the way if Orelan has to fire off a spell.

With that he nods at Brenon and says "Do it."

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

With a tense eagerness in his stance, Spider draws his shortsword and gives a simply nod as an indication of his readiness.

Female Human Fighter

Dropping into her ready stance, Magatha gives a nod to Brenon, her twin maces at the ready.

Male Elf Battle Sorcerer (4)

Orelan looks at the tight space around the door, and Artemis gallantly in front of him, shrugs, and swings his shortbow over his shoulder.

"Close enough for blade work, I think," he says, choosing rapier over bow.

"Indeed, I think I have been ready for an hour!"

Liberty's Edge

The door opens and Magatha's light source spills into the room. Eight small humanoids with flat faces, broad noses, pointed ears, wide mouths and small sharp fangs lurk within this room. They quickly drop their petty amusements and prepare for combat, screaming in anger towards you.

Roll init and attack rolls please.

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

is it at all possible we can get a grid call out of the combat, ie.. x & y, so we/I may make a map at home.

How wide is it where we are and how many of us can actually get an attack in?

Spider will delay till one of the others can make an attack first then he'll move (Skirmish bonus if possible) in and try and get flanking position. Though my attack roll is to low to make a difference :)

Initiative=21
Attack=3
Damage=7

should we just do Initiative first so we can base our actions on what happens before our INIT count comes up?

Seeing the tightly packed creatures through the door, Orelan yells "Clear ahead!" He steps forward to the raising his left hand in a dramatic arcane gesture that all but Spider recognise and respect.

Initiative: (1d20+3=19). Assuming that init roll is high enough that no-one gets in the way, Orelan casts Burning Hands on as many enemies as possible. Should be quite a few in the confined space...

Boiling scarlet flames jet 15 feet from Orelan's outstretched palm towards the oncoming foes. Burning Hands damage: (2d4=3)

"Hah - singed!"

Female Human Fighter

Initiative: (1d20+3=17)

Looks like I was lucky enough to roll initiative just after Orelan.

Hot on the heels of the arcane fire, Magatha steps forward and swings her maces at the first opponent she can reach.

1d20+3=4, 1d20+3=23 (A Threat and a fumble!)
Threat Confirmation: (1d20 3=6) - Fail to confirm.

Damage: (1d6+3=6)

Liberty's Edge

I am working on a map but it has been slow going due to work being so busy. I should have it done sometime early Friday before I go to Paizo Con here in Seattle this weekend and it will give Artemis and Brenon a chance to post their init rolls. I am going to try and keep up with my posts this weekend hopefully.

Male Human Rogue/2 Paladin/2

Initiative (1d20+2=8)
I however was not so lucky =(

Watching the others leap to the attack, Artemis steps through the doorway and to the left around the door frame, trying to hug the wall and get into a good position to flank an enemy. Once there, he attacks.

Attack Roll (1d20+1=19) (+2 if he ends up flanking someone, not that it probably makes much difference)

Damage from a quick jab with his Quarterstaff. (1d6+1=3)

Male Human Favoured Soul 1

init (1d20=18)

5ft step closer to the others, declare total defensive (+4 dodge bonus to ac for 1 round)

Liberty's Edge

Ok, I'm back from 2 days of gaming and had a blast. Got to meet all of the Paizo staff and even got to play in a game run by Wolfgang Baur!!! If your can make it to Seattle next year for the next con you should come, its alot of fun and you get a bunch of cool Paizo prizes! Next year should be even bigger with even more Paizo support! I believe they all had fun too!

Liberty's Edge

Ok have not had time to make a map so we will use a simple grid for this battle. The room is 55 ft by 30 ft. a,b,c is the 55 ft(x) and 1,2,3 is the 30 ft(y)

Init Order:
Spider-j6
Goblin3-e5
Orelan-Doorway-is at k6
Goblin4-c5
Brenon-k6
Goblin7-b1
Magatha-k5
Goblin2-f3
Goblin5-a3
Artemis-Doorway is at k6
Goblin leader-a1
Goblin6-b2
Goblin1-g3

I'll post the first combat round tonight after work!

Liberty's Edge

First Round of Combat

Spider seeing the goblins sets himself in a defensive position waiting to see what his friends are doing. The closest goblin(e5) launches a javalin at him but Spider deflects it his sword knocking it to the floor. Orelan yells and an arcane blast of fire hits the goblin(e5) in the chest doing damage. The goblin screams in pain and drops to the floor trying to put out the flames. The goblin(c5-moves to d6) next to the burning one trys to take his revenge and throws his javalin at Spider and Orelan direction but misses completely. Brenon steps closer to his friends in support of their efforts. Magatha rushes in behind the arcane fire and was going to attack the fallen goblin but he dropped to the floor so she sights another goblin(c5) standing by the burning one who just threw his javalin which whizzed by her. She connects with one of her swings killing the goblin instantly with a crushing blow to the head. Magatha now at e6. You all hear the leader shouting orders from the back of their group and the goblins respond by standing getting ready for something. Artemis moves into the room and trys to finish off the goblin on the floor while fighting beside Magatha, he hits and finishes off the goblin. Artemis now at f5.

Spider at i6, Orelan at j6 and Brenon at k6

End of round one combat. Go ahead and make your attacks and state what you are doing.

Female Human Fighter

With a clear line of charge, (At least according to the map as I understand it) Magatha charges the goblin in B2 and takes a swing, ending up in C4.

Charge Attack: (1d20+7=24)
Damage: (1d6+3=7)

Liberty's Edge

Ok Here is a crude map for combat to help everyone out! You'll need to click on the full screen button to get a better look at it!

Magatha if you want to change your action go ahead and do so!

Thanks for that. Seeing as I do have a goblin in reach...

Twin swings at Goblin4:
1d20+3=20, 1d20+3=5

Damage from the swing that connects: 1d6+3=4

Male Human Favoured Soul 1

Brenon moves to F6 (or as close to if somebody else moves there first) and readies and action to heal somebody if necessary.

Male Human Rogue/2 Paladin/2

Assign my Dodge Bonus to the Goblin in G3.
Artemis leaves the body of the downed Goblin and doubles back around to attack one of the pair of Goblins in the middle of the room. Attack the goblin in G3 from H3. Once there, he swing's his Quarterstaff at the Goblin's head, (1d20+1=8) going wide.

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

Spider springs into action, and though he’s not entirely comfortable with leaving an open path for the goblins to rush Orelan, he moves around and against the nearest goblin at G3, placing him at H2. He knows his position will provide a flanking position for the others, which would cut off the goblins in the process. ”box’em in” he calls out just before attacking the goblin at G3.

Whether from the excitement of the battle or the concern of leaving an open path of attack against Orelan, Spiders lack of focus causes him to Fumble his attack.

Attack roll = 1

note: Spider Delayed last round so his Init count is after Orelan (first to attack in Init count). Any thoughts from anyone on posting actions in the Initiative order?

Male Elf Battle Sorcerer (4)

Orelan moves left along the wall, towards where Magatha faces a snarling goblin. Lunging past her left shoulder, he attempts to introduce his rapier to the goblin's throat.

"Pardon me Magatha!"

Move to d7. Attack with rapier vs goblin 4: (1d20+1=2, 1d6+1=6) - Fumble!

Seeing his strike go well wide he says to Magatha and Artemis- "Ah well, over to you then."

Just got home from a very long stint at work and I am barely ale to think at the moment, I am about to go to sleep so I can go back in tomorrow. This is just a post to let you know that I will most likely be unable to post for the next 24-36 hours or so. If I need to be NPC'd, no problem.

Liberty's Edge

Combat Round 2

Orelan moves into battle with his rapier and attacks the nasty beast but misses the mark as the goblin dances away as it attacks Magatha hitting her with its morning star(1 pt damage). She lets out a small grunt but only smiles to herself as she loves to be in battle. She returns the favor and smacks the goblin with her mace up side the head hurting it but not killing it yet. Another goblin jumps into the fray but stumbles and messes up its own attack(gob5 at d5).

The Spider attacks but misses wide of the mark and almost hits Artemis but messes up Artemis's attack who also misses. The beasts attack Artemis(Gob1) and Spider(gob2-now at g2) but they miss wide too as Artemis and Spider fumble around with each other. The rest of the goblins are staying where they are to protect their leader.

I will update the map later today. Go ahead and make your attacks or actions for round 3!

male lvl 5 know it all

due to my computers failing power supply i am being forced to step out of this game... at the moment its turning itself off 9/10 times when i switch it on and i dont know how long before i can buy a knew powersupply. incredibly sorry to do this and i wish you guys all the best of luck :) maybe in the next week or 2 i'll be up and running again :)

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

Spider darts in with his short sword at goblin #2 hoping to Stab it. If the attack manages to kill the goblin, he will move to G3 so Artemis may move into a flanking position.

Attack=AC14; Damage=4

Female Human Fighter

With a slight spin, Magatha misses badly with her first swing, only to connect with a resounding blow on her second.

1d20+3=4, 1d20+3=20
1d6+3=8

She then takes a step to the north so that she is next to Atremis and ready for her next opponent.

Male Elf Battle Sorcerer (4)

Orelan briefly wonders whether he should move towards the grouped goblins by their leader; another [i]Burning Hands[i] might speed things up if he got all four of them.

Deciding that would leave him too exposed, he moves up behind Artemis and Magatha, then flips a dagger from his belt at the closest goblin. Move to G6 then throw dagger at goblin-1. Throw dagger: (1d20+3=7, 1d6+1=2)

No worries, I'll NPC your character until you get back! Good luck!

Sorry, big Weekend. My son's Naming Day on Sunday.

Artemis tries again to swing at Goblin 1 in G3. (1d20+1=5) Once again he misses horribly.

Liberty's Edge

Combat Round 3

Spider attacks the goblin in front of him and just misses to connect. The elf attacks throwing his dagger at the ugly goblin and throws wide of the mark. Brenon stays in his position ready to help out his friends if they need it. Magatha misses her first blow but is successful with her next killing the goblin. Artimis swings his staff again but misses again high of the mark. The goblins miss their attacks except for gob1 who hits Artemis (4 hps dam). Goblins 6 and 7 plus the leader are still holding.

Goblins 2,5,6 and 7 plus the leader are still alive. This end the round go ahead and make you next attacks.

Female Human Fighter

With a slightly insane cackle, Magatha charges to B4 and gives her next target a solid belting

Attack roll at Goblin5: (1d20+5=22, 1d6+3=5)

Male Human (Chelaxian), Born in Korvosa, raised in Elven lands Scout 1

Spider takes a deep breath as he steadies himself. He recalls his training and that one must have patients so they may focus their attack properly. Then he see an opening in the goblins stance and he Strikes out at the goblin at G2

Spider's Attack = AC16, Damage = 3

Male Elf Battle Sorcerer (4)

Orelan supports Spider, attacking the goblin at G2.

Attack: (1d20 1=6, 1d6 1=4)
