Short Adventure Paths

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

This was brought up in another thread - would Paizo consider releasing short Adventure Paths?

By this I mean 3 scenarios rather than 6, with a smaller level progression. So for example 1st to 8th or maybe 4th to 11th level. Whilst I love the idea of long running campaigns, it is not always practical to run one. Then we could explore more unusual AP ideas that maybe would not sustain a full 6 episodes without the commitment of year and then some of play. Maybe a few of the GM modules could be hooked together more tightly - not that I know anything about these products.

Just a thought

I'd definitely support this idea, especially at the levels you mentioned. Great idea and nice way to mix up the Pathfinder format.

My guess is that if there's enough demand for something like this they will release it under the GameMastery name instead of under Pathfinder. They have stated in other threads that Pathfinder are going to be exclusively 6 issues in 6 month cycles.

That does sound like A great idea and I think I heard sdomeone mention that they are doing that with the Lost Baron series of modules. At least I think someone mentioned that there would be three.

I still like the idea of maybe doing a small pathfinder path of three my m,ain problem with them doing this in gamesmastery modules is that they are just too short. They are only thirty two pages long and when you throw in background material and appendixs it is even less than that. I really think they could do with adding at least another ten pages to the modules.

Having said this this may be because I have been spoiled by pathfinder. I just find the adventure in pathfinder feel so much more complete. Plus the background articales are always useful. Again you just won't get this in gamesmastery moddules, so I can see why a pathfinder advenmture path would be preferred.

I would love to see some shorter adv paths. I simply don't know how many full paths I can sustain, and I imagine there is a significant amount of subscribers who might echo similar thoughts.

I do understand that this is more of a risky proposition for Paizo, as 6 volume paths most likely result in subscribers staying the full course. I also imagine you guys will be looking at the second path's numbers to see how many stick around and how many drop before you can consider things like shorter paths. But please do consider!

After getting Pathfinder #6 yesterday, I want something like this even more. I love the quality of Pathfinder but I just can't stomach high-level play anymore. And probably not coincidentally, but I felt Pathfinder 1-3 were FAR superior to 4-6. I haven't run any of them yet but now that I have the whole series, I'm already thinking of a way to run a mini-campaign with just 1-3.

I think you hit the high notes of why this could be risky for Paizo. But I would love it as well. After playing through some of the great 3-issue story arcs in Dungeon (like "The Seeds of Sehan" and "Shadows over Istivin"), I'm hungry for more.
