Vhillish is so attentive to the trail he follows that he nearly bumps right into the cocooned and desiccated corpses of what appears to be a robed wizard sort of fellow and two friends, a female in chainmail and a wiry, sharp-featured man in leather.

If he was a little bit taller...

"Keep an eye out for spiders too." The muffled rogue adds busy strip searching the wizard. He piles everything he finds up for the rest to examine in detail. Spellbooks and the like he leaves slightly nearer himself.

The deputy scowls at Lannet afore he resumes his duties and brings keen eyes and a veteran's savvy to bear;

DMG, the heal check is to check that they were killed by spiders or if they were stabbed, cut or beaten first.

Damien scoffs, "Aye, just some other dead mage then? Right."

Retrieving his dagger, Damien sets to cutting down the other two bodies. Once down he slits the cocoons and gives both of them a proper search, looking for anything personal that might serve to identify them as well as equipment.

Damien spits, "Whatever it was, all they found were spiders..."


Jerrid finds a scroll tube on the wizard, with scrolls of shield and mirror image (caster level 6th). He determines that these people died of spider venom from dozens of bites.

Dropped on the ground Samduc finds a set of masterwork thieve's tools, and in the rogue's belt pouch, 4 onyx gems worth 20 gp each, and 22sp. He wields a short-sword of masterwork quality.

In the wizard's belt pouch Damien finds 22gp, a 100 gp pearl and a broken glass vial that looks familiar from Shandril's temple, probably contained holy water.

The female fighter is bereft of equipment, only wearing chainmail armor and clutching a dagger.

Damien frowns at the collected items, "No crystal to be seen. Lannet, you say this is a different bunch from the ones you tracked out here? They do seem to be missing a dwarf. Though by that vial they did come from Fairhill."

He turns to Vhillish, "Does the trail end here or does it continue on further?"

He smirks at Astor and Leovan in turn, gesturing to the fighter, "Luck for you chain's not form fitting. I bet that armor would fit one of you."

Seeing as it's medium size, I'd actually like to grab that short sword if no one else wants it. Would make a way better backup weapon than my dagger.

Sam barely remembered dropping his thieves tools on the ground. He absentmindedly picked them back up. When he added them to his pack, he noticed he barely remembered picking up a spare set.

Seeing how property questions had gotten Jerrid in trouble, he decided it was best to keep his confusion to himself.

Well, the point of the priest class is to trade martial prowess for more spellcasting, perhaps recovering the AC using a loophole coudl be seen as cheating

I've been thinking, why would he swallow it? this is just getting weirder. something just does not feel right.
