Idea for adding anthropomorphic characters

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

As someone who really prefers races like the lupin I have been wracking my brains trying to think of ways of making races like those I favor in Pathfinder. Then when rereading Pathfinder #1 I found it: the Runelords themselves. The one dungeon could have been a laboratory in certain ways in imitation of Dr. Moreau(not that they would have been aping Wells mind you, but some of the procedures might have been similar). The Runelord of Wrath fusing humans and wolves together to create his/her version of a "perfect" race of servants to hunt down those that opposed his/her will. And after that the "secret" either leaked out and would have been shared with other Runelords. But among other things I plan on running this on a furry MUCK so most of the players will want this sort of thing.

No, I guess they were just monkeying around...<chuckle>

On a serious note, have you tried the Moreaus from D20 Modern?
A slight adjustment may be required (lose references to anachronistic skills and equipment, ignore Defense Bonus, etc), but the recommended stat adjustments, and heightened senses should still be in the same range as standard D&D.
I can't remember if any of them had racial HD or a level adjustment (some of the larger ones might). Would that put you off?

One of my players is a furry, so I'm currently trying to think of a way to sort something like this out for him.

Currently toying with the idea of a Litorian (sp?) from Ptolus / Arcana Evolved.

Or failing that I might just infect him with Lycanthropy.

All suggestions welcomed.

And if you fine folks at Paizo would care to have a furry race somewhere in the campaign world, that would be super-cool.

Perhaps instead of Gnomes?

I'm thinking of using Shifters as the base but Moreaus are a capitol idea, thank you!

I like the Sibbecai myself but I prefer to play canids so I admit my prejudice.

Sibbacai, Litorians, Dracha (I want to play a Dracha paladin type) also the Gnolls from Hamunaptra come to mind. There's also a template in the Advanced Beastery by GR.

Closed content includes catfolk and lupins.

Natural places to have them come from would be the egypt/greece analouges.

I would use Shifters personally as they're more human than animal... that being said most monstrous races in classical mythology are somehow men who are cursed, so why not have the Shifter clan (or clans) be cursed by Rovagug or Lamashtu for some ancient slight.

We've slotted lupins in quite well. Their semi-nomadic (Native American-esque culture)fits in nicely alongside the Shoanti tribes. Effectively they become another type of Shoanti tribe, trading with the others in peace time and at times warring with their neighbours. We've found them the easiest Compendium races to slot into Golarion.

One of my players wanted to play a shifter, so I looked at the race and set it up as a rare-occurance birth among the Shoanti. Basically, every once in a while, a Shoanti is born as a Shifter. They consider this to be a divine blessing, and the child is certainly destined for greatness!

Whether or not any of this is true is something my player will get to find out once I decide for myself (if it even comes up in RotR).

Spoiler:

Although I'm leaning towards the Shifters being a genetic leftover from Runelord experiments, with no real mystical significance...

One of the advantages of the Shifters is that they are not generally species defined, only ability/benefit defined. You can utilize that trait as a way of making anthro-ish characters and be able to describe the animal appearance part on a individual basis (so long as it fit within the shifter trait benefits)

Right spelling. :)
