My subscription page has always said it would ship on 8/3/07. I assume I will have it soon after.
That's merely an estimate. Since it's coming on a boat from China, and has to clear US Customs, we can't pin it down to a single day anymore. (We actually need to adjust that display so that it just says "August.")

Ooooh. I used to live in Columbus and I remember when the new 3.0 players handbook was on display in a plastic box where you could stick your hand in and turn the pages to look at it. 1999 or 2000? This seems like that same level of awe and mystery. Too bad I'm not there this time around.

Wow. That's overkill! (NAY! DO NOT SOIL THE PRECIOUS PHB WITH THINE UNCLEAN HANDS! AWAY WITH THEE!)

We got two copies today!
Oooooh. I tell you, even those of you who saw it at Origins are going to be impressed. And when it hits your mailbox, all of your other mail is totally going to be jealous.
GIMME! *glares menacingly*
I just want to start getting the players' characters together now, I have novice players involved in this game. Is that so much to ask???

Will those of us with Pathfinder subscriptions receive the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide at the same time as the first issue? If so, will they be packaged together or separately?
The free copy of the Player's Guide that Charter subscribers get will be in the same package as the first volume of Pathfinder.
If you're not a charter subscriber, or you're ordering additional copies, those will most likely ship separately, shortly after the subscriber copies go out.

I wasn't there so I don't know if this is actually the case, but I imagine a plastic box with holes it it so that you can put your hands in and turn the page. The box would have been so that people couldn't steal the PHB rather than getting it dirty. That's just my thoughts anyway.

How is the book shipping? In an actual box/package? I hope so. The crushing remorse I would feel were my postman to try and cram it into my very small mailbox would make me quite sad. Then again, I'd hope he wasn't that dumb, and realize it just wouldn't fit. I hate it when they try to bend (or curl) books/periodicals just a bit to make them fit. :( Being in a box or package would prevent that.

Pathfinder will be shipped in a heavy cardboard envelope if it ships via USPS, and a box if it ships UPS. Also, you may be able to nip the fears of your envelope being folded by letting your local post office know you would prefer your envelope not be bended. (It also works if you catch your postal carrier and let them politely know that you will be receiving a monthly book that can't be bended.)

No it wouldn't. Unfortunately.
I was a bit annoyed when I found my D1 bent into an L shape and stuffed into my mailbox. This is the same carrier, though, who typically bundles my mail by folding a letter in half and putting the others inside the fold...

When I was working at WotC with the web team several years ago, one of my responsibilities was to have books sent out to writers for the team so that they'd have the rulebooks they needed to write about what we wanted them to write about.
One time, one of my authors recieved one of the new D&D hardcover books (I believe it was somethng like Serpent Kingdoms) folded into a roughly "V" shape so that it'd fit into some mailbox.
Not all postal workers are created equal, it would seem...

Now Corey, as you may have forgotten while raving the night away on the eve of our humble grammar exam, bend is an irregular verb and is spelled "bent". It takes the same form in its past participle and preterite, or simple past form.

Yea I'm sure it was supposed to be a theft deterrent. You were allowed to reach in and turn the pages and could read through the plastic.

I'm quite pleased that my deliveryperson seems to be okay for the most part. He'll fold softbound magazines lengthwise to fit them into our mailbox, but he didn't try that with Crown of the Kobold King or any other heftier types of items that show up.

Who was his mail carrier?! The Incredible Hulk(tm)?!?
I pity the poor bastard on that mail route who orders a new computer or something...

We came up with a pretty foolproof delivery method: encasing them permanently in a solid block of Lucite. But it was too expensive, and, while it might have looked pretty at the other end, functionality was, shall we say, lacking.

OMFG!! I work for the USPS and would never dream of doing something like that what anyones mail! When and where was this? I'll talk to my supervisor to see if anything can be done.
Luckily, I have a PO Box big enough to hold 3-6 hardcover books, depending on pagecount.
*shakes head while thinking of V shaped book*
