A Moth / Butterfly Familiar?

I've not had dragon for very long and so when i heard of the cancellation, I was a bit disappointed. However, knowing that i can get back issues now makes things a bit better. In my search for what to get, i heard of an article of alternative familiars, one of which was a moth/butterfly that gave +3 to spellcraft. Does anyone know the Issue #?

I cannot remember the issue number but I think it was a class act for wizard...alternative familiars for specialists (or if it is not the article you are looking for, such thing was published anyway)

Wish I could help you out there, a moth or butterfly familiar sounds like a fine idea.

I'd also like to know if there might be a feat for a vermin familiar or perhaps animal companion. I was thinking perhaps a dog-sized spider for a dwarven ranger's companion animal, or something along those lines.

He would have answered even quicker if you had somehow worked a gnome into your question - such as if you had said:

"I plan on playing a gnome ninja PC with pigtails that flings shuriken from her pigtails whilst riding on the back of a giant butterfly, liberating sugar refineries across the land, with Skill Emphasis in Craft (Pixie Stick Creation) - do you remember the issue that had butterfly/moth familiars in it?"

You would have been answered instanteously. :p

Heh. I almost corrected you that riding on dragons would be better, but then I realized where you were going with the giant butterfly thing. But yeah. You're probably right. :D

Unfortunately, its not for a Gnome Ninja with pigtails that fire shurikens riding on the back of mothra. I did run this build past my DM after hearing it, but alas he said that my pigtails cant fire shurikens. So, i went for my original plan of an incantatrix. With this butterfly, my spellcraft is up to +37. Should make for some free metamagic :D. Tho i will keep the mothra gnome build in mind for BESM.
