My daughter and her husband had their second child today. She's 6 lbs and 17 inches. My daughter did a terrific job, and they are both doing great. She did a home birth and it went very well. The midwife was fantastic, and the home birthing experience was excellent. :)
Congratz, GrampsX2 :)

Thanks! :)

Baby and her Dad

Very cute baby Thorn, now you have no reason to be bitter. :)

Well I'm certainly a happy and thankful camper today!

Thanks to all for the good wishes!

Well, it's an obvious answer, and might have been used before (as I haven't read quite all of this thread.) But there is one really good thing to be thankful for: this website. Really, this is the most awesome online community I've ever seen, and many a time I got into a conversation here that made my day.

And I waited until today to post this, because it's the first anniversary of my first post on paizo.com, after years of lurking.

Since then, I've posted more than 1000 messages, joined 5 PBPs, and bought dozens of Pathfinder books, in addition to the Pathfinder RPG and Bestiary hardcovers, a handful of other Paizo products, and a couple of 3rd-party Pathfinder RPG products. Yet I never would have given Paizo a fair shake if not for this website.

Well done Aaron, glad to have you here.

Good to hear your family news Bitter Thorn.

Congrats. Home-births rock! Most fun I've ever had while roasting a chicken.

It's amazing what an awesome experience this home birth was. It's so much less stressful that the previous hospital experience with her first birth. I've known the midwife for many years, and the whole thing came together really well! It's not necessarily for everyone, but it went great for my daughter.

Congrats on the new granddaughter!

I'm going to my own nephew's 1 year birthday on Sunday. It's always great to get new babies in the family. And you always get hit by how quickly time passes, so enjoy it while you can. :-)

No doubt, how did I get this old?! ;)

For the past seven years or so, I've had an idea. It started out as an occasional musing, then from various support and prodding by friends and interested parties developed into something more substantial. But for the most part, other than simply getting bigger and more fleshed out, it's remained simply that - an idea.

In the past year, though, I've started working towards making it something more than that. Progress has been slow. But earlier today I got something from my partner in this little project that completely changes the situation. It is now officially more than just a bundle of thoughts in my head. It's not just something I muse about on odd hours or have weird dreams about occasionally, it's REAL now.

And I'm so excited about it that I can't sit still, I'm literally bouncing in my chair or jumping up and pacing in circles around my living room.

Let me, then, offer both Congratulations & Condolences. And, let's remember the words of a very wise man, who said....

"Marraige is like an institution. But, who the hell wants to spend the rest of their life in an institution?"

Yeah, I heard all those jokes when I was engaged. Like...

"Marriage is a three-ring circus. First comes the engagement ring, then the wedding ring, and then the suffering."

"Remember the man's authority. The husband always gets the last word. In fact, he gets the last TWO words: 'Yes dear.'"

...and so on.

But seriously, congratulations. Contrary to my joking, married life isn't bad.

The last three days are over.

My mother is leaving for the next four weeks to visit friends in Wisconsin.

After my girlfriend gets back from her acting workshop in New Jersey, we'll have the house to ourselves for a while.

It seems to me we could all use a bit of the positive in our lives. I know I could. This is the place to list good things in or going on in your life. Despite the frustrations, there is always something good going on, isn't there?

Hmmm. My soulmate and I have been together for 17 years and we're even more happy than when we first met.

I have enough funds to sate my hobbies and my spouse has no issues with it.

I actually like my job.

Next week, I (and other subscribers) will have lots of good reading- the APG and PF 36 & 37. Which to read first? :p

At this point I would just like to say a big *thanks* to everyone else from organisers to attendees who made PaizoCon UK this year such a big success. You are truly Good Things.

Well said Charles. We've got a fantastic Pathfinder community in the UK.

Aghh... too much freelance work. It's both good and bad as it's nice to make some extra money but I have almost no free time to spend with my family.

I didn't know that slashers or hecklers got freelance gigs. What else do you do, Jack?
