I am driving to College Station tomorrow to see my father and sister. It's 900 miles, and I'm helping Dad move, but I don't see them often enough. :)

I'm glad that's done. Now I get to work on my own big projects at home.

Yeah, Mac Boyce's posts reminded me that there are good things in my life, like my marriage.

Really, some people in the past used to scare me by describing marriage as a living hell. More than one person said to me something along the lines of "Before we married, we loved each other. Now we hate each others butts." I also saw people who were married for less than a year fighting like they had been married for 20.

But I'm fortunate enough to be married to a wonderful woman who works hard to make this marriage work. We haven't yet had a real, proper fight, and we've been married for 9 1/2 years. Whenever one spouse flew off the handle, the other one kept cool until the madness passed.

Sure, we have our problems. Everyone has. But at the end of the day, we and our two kids all basically get along.

And yeah, I obviously have less time than I had during my bachelor years. I don't read nearly as many books as I would like. You need to work at a marriage. But I've learned that it doesn't have to be agony.

Finally deposited five paychecks from two different jobs, plus a refund from SCAD, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they added up to about $1,100.00. You don't see that every day, especially when you're in my situation.

They're coming to install my new counter tops tomorrow, and then the regular contractor's going to come by and try to finish up his work. I could be cooking in my kitchen by Wednesday, and should definitely be able to brew a new batch of beer this weekend.

Thank you. Counter tops are Silestone (spelling?). Sort of like granite, but with a different type of seal, I think.

Hmmm... be careful about scratches. But congrats! How long has it been in work?

Not quite one month. So we've been eating out, ordering delivery, or doing nuke-a-meals for all that time. It'll be nice to finally cook something.

Makes me sad that I'd be happy to have your "before" right now.

Naw, he'll just have Frost rough 'em up. When they wake up, they'll be running on one of the hamster wheels that power the servers. And Cosmo will milk their tears to brew beer. "Zon-Kuthon Triple Bock?"

Even though I'm not actually a father, my brother ordered me two of the Steel Sqwire spell templates (the diagonal cones and straight cones). He signed my niece's name as a gift to her favorite godfather.

That's pretty damn cool!

I called and wished my Dad a happy Father's Day, and my daughter and son in law took me out for great father's day steak with their son. It was nice to touch base with 4 generations in one day.

Just checked my order tracking and my GameMastery Guide and PF Chronicles:Heart of the Jungle should both be waiting for me when I get home today.

Well, it's an obvious answer, and might have been used before (as I haven't read quite all of this thread.) But there is one really good thing to be thankful for: this website. Really, this is the most awesome online community I've ever seen, and many a time I got into a conversation here that made my day.

And I waited until today to post this, because it's the first anniversary of my first post on paizo.com, after years of lurking.

Since then, I've posted more than 1000 messages, joined 5 PBPs, and bought dozens of Pathfinder books, in addition to the Pathfinder RPG and Bestiary hardcovers, a handful of other Paizo products, and a couple of 3rd-party Pathfinder RPG products. Yet I never would have given Paizo a fair shake if not for this website.

My daughter and her husband had their second child today. She's 6 lbs and 17 inches. My daughter did a terrific job, and they are both doing great. She did a home birth and it went very well. The midwife was fantastic, and the home birthing experience was excellent. :)
