Silver Crusade

If there was a knock-out between Minor Gods, Demon princes, and Arch devils. Who would win? Which is the more powerful. Doesn't have to be a specific name but in general? In the sake of the AP's Kyuss vs. Demogorgon.

Ha! Come to Hellfire Congress at Gencon Indy and find out my man!

My events!

Logue had to stick his nose in didn't he! Damn roleplaying thespian!

Demogorgon vs. Kyuss?

...Kyuss (by stint of spellcasting ability only)

How about...

Odin vs. Zeus

Bahamut vs. Tiamat

Pelor vs. Lathander

Heracles vs. Gilgamesh

Vecna vs. Bane

Thanos vs. Darkseid

Lolth vs. Ichunawa (god of saintly spiders)

...okay, so I made Ichunawa up on the spot. I couldn't think of a real-life or fanatasy good-aligned spider god.

Liberty's Edge

Teotihuaca is a Mesoamerican Goddess of Spiders and the Underworld.
And, of course, there's Arachne of Classical Greece.

In the Mayan pantheon, everyone was afraid of Teotihuaca...

Liberty's Edge

Fenrir Snarki would wup them all.

Thanks Andrew. I wasn't aware of Teotihuaca, but Arachne isn't really a goddess according to greek myths. She was a mythic figure, but wasn't an actual deity.

Is Teotihuaca good-aligned? Most Mesoamerican gods were evil or neutral (according to D&D sources anyhow). Though, I suppose it's as close as I'm gonna get to a matchup.

You're just avoiding the question!

Liberty's Edge

Teotihuaca has two incarnations, Earth Goddess, and quite neutral leaning toward chaotic, and Goddess of the Underworld, very, very wicked. Her effigies are crowned with two snakes, an owl and she is always surrounded by spiders; she wears a spider medallion around her neck. She may only be appeased by blood (human sacrifice).

Very true, Arachne; not a divinity.

Odin vs. Zeus

Odin, mainly because he would bring along some Valkyries to "distract" Zeus.

Pelor vs. Lathander

We have to delay this one until Lathader can prove he isn't actually Amaunator, and thus by extention bringing a "manager" to the fight.

Thanos vs. Darkseid

Darkseid wins by virtue of the fact that Thanos wouldn't exist if it weren't for Darkseid (or maybe Thanos is the anti matter universe's Darkseid, like Deadpool is the anti matter universe's Deathstroke).

I'm sorry, what's the question?

Bahamut vs. Tiamat

I'm leaning towards Bahamut, because Tiamat barely seemed to hold her own against Venger and/or a bunch of kids from an amusement park ride.

As much as I worship...I mean, err...appreciate Lord Cthulhu, Ao is limitless, and Cthulhu is narcoleptic... :-(

Unless you mean Ao from Maori mythology...?

Phil. L wrote:
Odin vs. Zeus

Zeus (I'm part-Greek).

Phil. L wrote:
Bahamut vs. Tiamat

Tiamat -- she'll fight dirty.

Phil. L wrote:
Pelor vs. Lathander

Pelor -- Greyhawk always wins :P

Phil. L wrote:
Heracles vs. Gilgamesh

Heracles (Greek thing again).

Phil. L wrote:
Vecna vs. Bane

Vecna (Greyhawk thing again).

Phil. L wrote:
Thanos vs. Darkseid

yawn... No Greeks, no GH, no interest.

Phil. L wrote:
Lolth vs. Ichunawa (god of saintly spiders)

Lolth is Greyhawk -- see above (yeah, yeah, Ichunawa is ficitional, but so is Lolth).

Cthulhu Mythos kicks all butt!

Later :)

Bea Arthur.

Yeah, I said it.

Behold the power of Bea Arthur: The mere mention of her name was enough to kill this thread!

I just recieved my Issue #150 Dungeon and had to flip ahead to read Demogorgon's stats (poor unfortunate PC's). I couldn't help opening up "Dawn of a New Age" to check out Kyuss' stats too because I just had to know: who's tougher?

They both have the same AC.

Demogorgon has a better:
- Base Attack
- Hit Points
- Damage Reduction
- Spell Resistance, plus
- has fast healing
- and dual actions

Kyuss has Divine blast (it's all wormy).

They probably negate each other's magical powers by virtue of relatively low caster levels vs. relatively high SR; so, I'm thinking it would come down to a good old fashioned melee fight. The advantage goes to Demogorgon because he can overcome Kyuss's damage reduction whereas Kyuss doesn't come ready with a weapon that can defeat Demogorgon's DR. Plus, Demogorgon has dual actions and fast healing and more hit points. On the hand, Kyuss does have the Divine Blast ability (no fair).

It'd be fun to hand the stats over to two of my players, give them 1/2 an hour or so to read them over and them adjudicate the battle. Unfortunately, I haven't finished either campain so I'm still hoarding the secret stats.

So how about it? Who do you think would win?

Cheers,
C.

Actually, I just did the math (literally).

Spoiler:
If Demogorgon used both his dual actions in a full attack against Kyuss he could potentially take him down in one round (I'm a little biased because I think Demogorgon is too classic not to like but the stats speak for themselves).

Cheers,
C.
