I believe it is Rokko's turn. Should I post for him?

Heh ... um, yeah, we probably should have told you, Aubrey is away for a week or two ... so taking his turn might be good! Sorry about that.

Sorry for the hold up. Still getting caught up & work is keeping me busy.

Rokko’s eyes bulge when he watches the creature grow to double its size and considers his small stature compared to the magically enlarged abomination. Then he shakes his fear away and moves closer to be within range for his next move. “Hmph, So now you NEED magic. From the goblin no less,” Rokko says sourly. “Well my dear Valessa, I guess you are lucky I am here after all. Superior race, Huh!”

Rokko then starts chanting and manipulating his hands to caress the flows of magic into his desired result. Then he juts his hand forward and a bolt of fire stretches the distance.

Cast Scorching Ray, Ranged Touch Attack (Roll 4+6=10), Damage (Roll 6+6+5+3=20)

Hope you don’t mind me using up a spell, Aubrey

Um, awesome job, and great damage and all, but which target? The fleeing giant skeleton, the 4 armed creatures with crossbows, or the now enlarged and glowy tentacled leader

Sorry. Rokko was watching the enlarged tentacled leader. This was his target.

This encounter goes not well from my point of view... fleeing skeleton, and a near dead leader...

Liberty's Edge

Male Engineer Geek 6/Engineer 5/Engineseer 1

The terrified giant continues to flee

The dolgrim reload, and fore again:

Responding to the orders of the dolgaunt, they all fire on Brick:

But only 2 manage to hit, for a luaghable 2 and 3 damage.

Second round:
Ruuz: 20
Merreck: 19
Brick: 19
Valessa: 16
Beren: 13
Sari: 13
Dolgaunt: 7+3=10
Rokko: 8
Giant Skeleton: 1+4=5
Dolgrim: 4+1=5

Even so, he's still down to 5 HP.

Male Changeling Artificer 4rd

Ruuz loads his crossbow and launches a bolt at the growing eyeless monster.
Attack 14 + 6 = 20
Damage 5 + 4 + 6 = 15

I hide behind Brick and pull out my crossbow, shouting "Is anyone badly hurt?" as I load a bolt.

Brick's not saying anything, but you probably notice the half dozen crossbow bolts protruding from his torso.

Was this Brick's turn? I believe it is his go.

Yeah but my healing spells won't be that effective on Brick.

M/n Warforged Cleric 3 / Paladin 1

Brick's wounds glow with a faint light, and close slightly.

Casts cure moderate wounds, (2d8 + 3)/2 = 14/2 = 7 HP

D-Mann, did Ruuz's attack down the enlarged tentacled leader?

What, weren't you in the chat session? Yeah, the dolgaunt marshal is in the negatives, and nobody is aorund to help him...

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

The Shifter shouts a loud, "Yeah," when the enlarged creature falls. "Nice shot Ruuz. Um, you too Rokko."

Then he turns his head toward Valessa and instantly nods his chin toward the smaller creatures with the crossbows, "What do you say, Valessa? Want to have a shoot out?" With his question, he gives her a toothy grin and shows her his bow so she gets his meaning.

Sari listens to Beren give Valessa a shout out and thinks to herself, 'it would have been nice if I was invited to the shootout' Sari grabs an arrow and loads it into her shortbow and takes aim at the closest small creature. "Hope you don't mind me taking out on of your targets there Beren." Sari lets her arrow fly. attack: 12+5=17 damage: 2

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

Sorry Nani, actually my diaglogue was a subtle way to let Mothman know that it is Valessa's turn. Sorry for the confusion.

Female Human (Aundairian) Rogue 3 / Ranger 1

Bugger! Sorry, didn’t realise it was my go.

Valessa draws back her now magical bow and fires at the Dolgaunt.

Attack: 16+5 = 21. Damage: 4+1 = 5 (magical)

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

Beren looks over at Valessa, "Nice shot, but I think the tall one is dead. Let's go for the little scraps."

At this, Beren strings an arrow and shoots at the stubby guys.

Composite Longbow Attack (Roll 12+5=17), Damage (Roll 7+2=9)

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

"Nice shot, Sari."

No need to apologize I just saw your post and thought crap I was suppose to post and since we were gone all weekend I just posted. I panicked at the thought that everyone was waiting for me. So the apology is mine to you.

Oh yea the dialog didn't bother me, I just used it as a way to "enhance" my character

Beren's arrow sinks into the creatures tough skin, but one of its lower arms pulls it out while its upper arms continue reloading the crossbow.

Sari's arrow bounces off the little creature

Muttering with my head in my hands, Rokko's turn

Female Human (Aundairian) Rogue 3 / Ranger 1

Valessa cheers as her arrow thuds into the already falling Dolgaunt. “Terrors of deepest Khyber my ass,” she mutters, somewhat embarrassed by her earlier fear.

“The small squishy ones are resistant to normal weapons too,” she yells to the others. “Either hit ‘em hard, or hit ‘em with magic!”

Assuming those are your two actions for the round, the dolgrim respond by turning and fleeing down the corridor.

Apparently having you invincible leader and your awesome bruiser eliminated in one round is demoralizing... who knew?

"We should follow them and maybe try and capture one - they probably know their way around here better than we do, and could help us find what we are looking for."

"Yeah but who knows how many more of them there are. If we follow them we could find a whole horde of them." I say trying to judge how seriously my companions are wounded.
Anyone need some healing?

M/n Warforged Cleric 3 / Paladin 1

The glow being emitted from Brick's eyes and hands ceases. He takes a step in the dirction of Merreck, and crashes face-first into the floor, his iron cranium gouging a deep furrow in the stone.

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

Beren watches the squat creatures retreat down the hall. His ears perk up at the suggestions from Rokko and Merreck. Then he leaps to the side to avoid the huge, gangly Warforged from crushing him as he smacks down on the floor. “Well, we can’t let them escape, and we will probably explore down there any way. No time like the present. I’ll take point. Valessa, Sari, you both with me in the lead?” The Shifter slightly glances at Sari with a toothy grin, “Careful this time, though. No traps. Sound good?” Then he looks down at Brick, “Uh, Merreck, Ruuz, anything we can do about him?” Then shifting his head toward the tentacled leader, “Maybe check that big guy for any more potions why we‘re scouting ahead, also.”

Beren then starts down the corridor, following the dolgrims. He is taking it slow and steady, watching for traps and other possible ambushes. When possible, he takes to the shadows and moves along as quietly as possible.

Spot Check (Roll 4+7=11), Listen Check (Roll 7+5=12), Hide Check (Roll 16+7=23), Move Silently Check (Roll 1+7=8), Search Check (Roll 1+6=7), Survival Check (Roll 7+9=16)

Female Human (Aundairian) Rogue 3 / Ranger 1

Valessa looks at Brick in concern, but figures that Merreck or Ruuz will be more capable of helping him than she. She catches Sari’s eye and smiles weakly, then nods to Beren.

“Just a second,” she tells the shifter as he starts up the corridor taking careful note of his surrounds. Running over towards the downed Dolgaunt, being careful to avoid it’s outstretched tentacles, she fires another arrow into it’s chest for good measure. “Now you can search it,” she calls back to the others, then follows after Beren.

Once she catches up, she slows, following his stealthy movements and searching for any sign of traps or other nasties.

Hide: 11+4 = 15, Move Silently: 12+6 = 18, Search: 12 + 9 = 21

Female Human Fighter/3

Sari smiles at Beren as he talks to Valessa and herself. " I think no traps would be a good thing for us. By the way, nice job there Rokko and Ruuz for taking down the big bad thing. What are we going to do about Brick? For some reason I don't think we can carry him along." Sari looks at Valessa and nods her head as to say here we go again. Spot: 18 Listen: 16 Move Silently: 17+1=18 Yea! The dice love me today!!

M Goblin Cleric (Evangelist) 3

Following Valessa, crossbow locked and loaded, looking for possible traps and hidden assailants. Hide = 17, Move Silently = 18, Spot = 3, Listen = 4, Search = 16.

A quick search of the Dolgaunt commander reveals him to be wearing a customized breastplate which allows his main tentacles to poke through. Gear wise, he is carrying a long sword, still in its sheath, and has a pouch at his hip (where he drew his potion from).

A small insect like creature seems to be crawling off the back of his left hand.

The chase:

Spoiler:

The dolgrim run down the hall, making effrorts to cover each other. They seem to have an unnatural skill at running and firing thier crossbows. None of their shots are accurate enough to do anything but slow you down, but that is sufficient. After a full minute of running they turn and flee down another corridor, identical to the main hall you first explored. They have turned towards the central area.

I assume you don't want to come barreling around a blind corner whil chasing 6 crossbowmen, so tell me what you do want to do."

M Goblin Cleric (Evangelist) 3

For the DM:

Spoiler:
"Beren, Valessa - can we track these fellows? It should be easy after their mad dash?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Engineer Geek 6/Engineer 5/Engineseer 1

Yes, one of them was hit for damage, so they are leaving an obvious blood trail in the otherwise spotless hallway.

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

Beren watches his quarry round a corner in the corridor and leave his line-of-sight. He quickly comes to a stop before the corridor turns.

"Wait! See this," Beren points to the floor, "One of them is bleeding. Should be an easy trail to follow. I say we go back and regroup. Who knows what may be up ahead. Also, if there are anymore of those undead giant things, we'll need Brick. Let's see if he is ok."

Beren slowly backs away toward the battle site, bow in hand in case the dolgrims come back. As they retreat, Beren turns to Sari. "Don't forget about that sword you carry. Maybe we can find out what it is. Could be useful against those guys."

Sari grabs for the sword to ensure that it is still safe. "Do you think that I should give it a swing or two? I just want to be sure that with my cosmic good looks and a powerful sword Ruuz can still hold his own." Sari says joking as she looks at Ruuz and Beren. Sari puts her short sword away and grabs the mysterious sword.

DM:

Spoiler:

Do I know what the name of the sword is?

Male Changeling Artificer 4rd

Ruuz squats down next to Brick and looks at his damage. Gathering his innate magic he presses his hand on Brick.

Cast Repair light damage 3+4 = 7

Male Wildhunt Shifter Ranger / 3

Beren looks at Sari, "It would be best if we had the means to discover the properties of the sword, but trial and error can work too. If you like, I'll take a swing at the dead tentacled guy and see if anything peculiar happens."

Hey Ruuz, I think Sari likes you. No, actually she luuuuuuves you.

"What the Hell?" I say jumping out of the way as Brick falls, almost crushing me. "I guess he was hurt." I say and pass a hand over him "May the Traveler bless you and preserve your uh soul and body. Yadda yadda yadda." I murmur and a faint blue gold suffuses his body.
Casting CLW. 4 pts damage healed.

Male Changeling Artificer 4rd

"Sari the like Beren said earlier there are crushed dragonshards in the blade and any of my magical enhancements will last twice as long when I cast them on the sword. I was going to try it against this mob but I guess they weren't as tough as they looked."

Ruuz stands back so Brick can stand "How are you now big guy?"

Brick's eyes flare briefly as he regains his footing. His small, dome-shaped head swivels towards Ruuz.

"Hello. How are you? Was there a fight?"

As Valessa makes to follow Beren, she notices the movement out of the corner of her eye. Thinking that it is one of the Dolgaunt’s tentacles or tendrils moving, she jumps, then notices the bug. “Ugh!” she says, attempting to squash the insect under her booted heel.

Any attack roll or anything required?
