Okay, Andante's revised sheet is up. Just waiting to hear back from Nerak and we'll be good to go!

My boss is out of town the rest of the week. You can expect an opening post at some point tomorrow, probably in the early afternoon (Mountain Time). I do have a couple of things to smooth out, but it's nothing that will hold the game up. The people I have questions for have received e-mails with regards to these issues. See you all in game soon!

DM Fatespinner |

While I am open to either, the charging smite seems to make more sense. While he knows how to ride, he prefers to be on the ground. I will select charging smite unless you feel otherwise would be preferable for some reason.
By all means, go for the Charging Smite. I'll be perfectly honest when I say that the majority of this game will take place in settings that are not horse-friendly.

DM Fatespinner |

Done. Oh, and did you get my earlier email?
The repeating crossbow looks to be ok unless you feel otherwise. Also from a previous email there were some items to be added to equipment that weren't on the wiki last I looked.
thanks for everything.
I'm hoping to post in the next little bit.
I haven't been home to check my personal e-mail yet today. My only concern with the repeating crossbow was that you would not be able to gain proficiency with it without forfeiting one of your other proficiencies. Repeating crossbows are considered part of the 'Exotic' weapon group. The 'Exotic' group is a little different that the other group proficiencies, however, in that taking the 'Exotic' group simply gives you proficiency with the exotic versions of groups you already have. Therefore, to be proficient with the repeating crossbow you would need BOTH the Exotic group proficiency AND the Crossbow group proficiency. You can still have the weapon if you want, but be aware that you'll be suffering non-proficiency penalties.
I'll check my e-mail when I get home tonight regarding the other info. It shouldn't be a big deal this early on, though.

Actually here is the body of the email:
1. He will nearly exclusively use the heavy mace 2 handed (thus no shield)2. From Unearthed Arcana, p. 95 "Weapon Group: Crossbows--"You make attack rolls with the following weapons normally: heavy crossbow, light crossbow, repeating heavy crossbow, and repeating light crossbow." Certainly your call and I'll do what you like. Just let me know. Thanks.

Oh? They put the repeaters in with the regular ones? Cool! Nevermind then. You're fine. This is what I get for not consulting my book before making a statement like that. :)
As for the mace, no problem. I'll make a note on the wiki sheet to remind myself.

DM Fatespinner |

They help me stay shiny.
Of course. Being "shiny" is just as important as being "good" to a paladin of Lathander! In fact, the qualities of your 'masterwork' full plate armor probably involve golden (gilded steel, not ACTUAL gold) pauldrons, engravings, and various other bright and shiny parts. Gold and gems. That's Lathander for ya.

DM Fatespinner |

I like being shiny. Mmmm...purty. :)
Well, my first post/tirade is up. Let's see how long I can handle being the bastion of goodness. My gaming group says it is against my nature to play on the side of good. :)
As far as your post is concerned, it looks good. There's a couple of coding hiccups that should probably be corrected (your ooc bracket needs to be completed, I believe).
Also, when dictating your character's attitudes and actions, don't bother using OOC text to state that you're saying something emphatically, slowly, etc. Try to let it flow like you would read in a traditional piece of reading material. For example, instead of: "Shall we he barely contains himself with disgust at the nexttake one alive? with more vigorOr shall we smite them until their very marrow runs in rivulets into the soil they have ruined?"
You could just use: "Shall we," he barely contains himself with disgust at the next, "take one alive? Or shall we smite them until their very marrow runs in rivulets into the soil they have ruined?" The latter he states with more vigor, his thirst for vengeance evident.
Please don't take this as a complaint. I think you've got an interesting personality here. It just makes it easier to read and seems more natural if you do it the other way. I like the character's attitude! It'll be fun to see how long the others can stand you! Hehe.

Good suggestions. Is that better? I'm still getting used to what works best (for example what should and should not be in ooc) and I appreciate any assistance.
When not in 'public' he is slightly less annoying. Slightly. :)

Very nice! As far as what should and should not be in OOC text, generally you will only use OOC text when you would, in a tabletop game, be turning to tell the DM something or requesting some sort of roll to be made.
Some examples:
Thelen charges the nearest orc, calling out to his god for divine strength to aid him in battle. Using Smite Evil and charging to attack with my mace.
"There is no need for violence, gentlemen. Clearly we are all civilized people. Lay down your arms and let us resolve this as men, not beasts." Diplomacy check please.
OOC text should be used sparingly. Use it when you have a question to ask the DM or to detail something that you are doing MECHANICALLY (i.e. using Power Attack, casting defensively, attempting to grapple, etc.). Do not use it to describe how your character is acting or to ask questions to an NPC. For further examples, you can always look to my Fade to Black campaign to see how things flow.

DM Fatespinner |

You da man. :)
I read the tirade to my wife and she laughed out loud. I said, "See, I can play good after all." She basically said, "That's right you can play good," and smiled sweetly. Nice. *laugh*
Oy. My wife is PLAYING in this campaign (she's Aynsley). I can only imagine what kinds of things are going to be said in this discussion thread as time goes on....

DM Fatespinner |

I'll be traveling across the country today and will not be able to post until tonight. Looks good so far! (I'll email my background tonight as well)
Excellent! I'm looking forward to it.
So, now that this game has started, my players in the evil game have started the name-calling in my discussion thread for Fade to Black, referring to you guys as 'goody-two-shoes' and 'do-gooders.' It's quite hilarious.

DM Fatespinner |

Ok, finally got my first post up. Do I need to make another account and/or change my avatar?
Creating an "in-character" avatar is always preferable. It's just nice thematically. You don't HAVE to, but I would encourage it. Gary Teter has set up a way to create messageboard 'aliases' so that you can keep the same login information and all that while just posting under a different name/avatar. Just click on the 'My Account' link at the top of the page and look for the 'Messageboard Aliases' heading. It should be self-explanatory from there. Welcome aboard!

DM Fatespinner wrote:The evil game have started the name-calling in my discussion thread for Fade to Black,Y'know, Fate, the good group really should call themselves the Crusaders of Purity.
...
GET BACK IN YOUR OWN THREAD! *cracks whip* Hyaa! Back!
That would be really funny though. And I'm joking about getting back into your thread. Lurking is permitted in the discussion threads. :D

DM Fatespinner |

Be funny to have the evil bastards fight we goody-two-shoes hehe. Err.... when we're big enough to win. :P
Well, you're actually the same level. So... it's 50/50. Granted, they're apt to cheat and be horrendous bastards, so I guess it's really 60/40... Aaaaaand they have a crazy dude with a giant hammer. Better make it 70/30. :D
Of course, they're just as apt to kill each other as they are to kill you, so I guess it's 40/40/20, with the '20' representing the crazy dude with the giant hammer as a faction all his own.

DM Fatespinner |

Fate, Is my mage a member of the War Wizards? I don't have a problem if he is, just need to adjust what I'm going to post either way.
Up to you. I've already kind of forced you into the mage's guild, but being an ACTUAL War Wizard is optional. Most War Wizards are Lawful and Illusion is one of the LEAST common specialties amongst them (since they're basically battlefield artillery mostly), but there's nothing to say that you might not just be uncommon. Your call.

Ok, I think I'm going to say he is not. He has a genereal non chalance about law and order generally speaking and a slight disdain for authority.

DM Fatespinner |

It looks like Anain has decided where you're all going to be camping tonight, hehe. Being that you're all in the middle of nowhere and you know that there may be evil nasty orcs hiding out in the fields somewhere, you may want to discuss who is going to be keeping watch and how you want to situate your camp.

DM Fatespinner |

Hooray! Naked elf chick! This ought to draw an interesting reaction from the paladin...
Andante, if you have any desire to change your prepared spells, let me know here. Otherwise, I will assume you are keeping them the same for the next day. This is the same for you other caster types out there (meaning everyone but Aynsley).

I added them into my post on the other forum. Lemme go edit and post here instead.
EDIT: Or not. Apparently it's too late to edit that post. Anyway, I tucked it out of the way in one of those spoiler buttons.
